The graphics and music are nice but the amount of backtracking isn't fun or satisfying, specially having to shoot random blocks to progress. The controls feel very janky compared to other 2d platformers, and is specially disappointing compared to games like Mario. Even though this game is praised for its world design, each individual level is shallow in terms of platforming or combat. The worst thing about this game are the boss fights, which feel more like a test of patience and refarming missiles while hitting a certain weak point more than skill. I can't imagine people still enjoying this game and touting it as one of the best, when the modern Metroid games and other games in this genre are unthinkably better. I imagine nostalgia and being aware of its reputation must help in that regard.

Story:
Not every video game has to be an action packed, lore filled story line with multiple timelines, nor a deeply layered masterpiece with symbolism for every piece of dialogue. Sometimes all my heart desires is a basic but heartfelt story where you go from point A to point B, that's all this game is, and all it needs to be.

Music:
Not the most grandiose and intelligently composed soundtrack, but for a loving yet dark fairy tale, nothing else could have been more fitting. The simple, childlike sounding instruments, with spooky, dark melodies, create a very fitting ambience that radiate familiarity and nostalgia.

Art:
The art is simply beautiful. This is where the most effort was clearly put. The storybook-esque art style is animated beautifully, like you are actually playing a bed-time story. The strokes and splashes of color in these illustrations were so obviously filled with passion, its hard not to love.

Game play:
It will get boring. Although this game has amazing music and art, and a wonderful story to tell, even I question why this had to be a game. The game will become exhausting to play after a lot of the same puzzles and hopping around, for a lot of people, it's fun for the first few minutes before it becomes tiresome. I personally didn't mind it at all, but I can see how this would turn a lot of people off.

Thank you for reading.

Had one of the best soundtracks in Video Games, neat combat, and likable characters, but was wayy too repetitive. Kaine had a great character which felt like it was deep and conflicted, the rest of the party though, received little to no development.
I think the Story would've affected me a lot more if it actually affected the Protagonist rather than trying to make me feel bad. The Plot points were way too predictable.
The route system wasn't well designed and made little to no difference in the whole playthrough. Would've preferred if they combined Route B and Route C/D.
Though, it had a beautiful Ending which still keeps this game on the good side for me.
Overall a good game that could've been a lot better if they actually brought a change in the story during the latter routes.
