Initially i wasn't expecting much from this game. What could possibly be intriguing about this random 2002 rpgmaker game that only got a translation after 2 decades? Turns out it actually has some really unique game design and ideas that would even influence several games later down the line.
The dungeon exploration and demanding equipment based management are my absolute favorite things about it. This game is all about encouraging you to explore every nook and cranny of the various dungeons you'll explore while dodging every enemy. Within the interconnected dungeons you'll find loot out in the open or stashed away behind hidden passages that you'll desperately need since it quickly outmatches anything you can buy in the store back at town. Despite using the default rpgmaker battle system i was absolutely blown away by how fun the combat is. All the weapons, armor and accessories have unique properties and you'll find yourself optimizing your setup when faced with a strong enemy. There's no feeling more satisfying than taking as little damage as possible and not getting hit with status ailments in a boss battle.
All in all, i'm glad i stumbled across this game since i wasn't expecting to have such a fun time. I think this game is worth giving a shot, even if you don't go through all of it.
