I think the horror of this game is pretty present throughout. You must fail to get the "jumpscares" (or this game's equivalent of that), but the often tragic implications of callers' problems and the descriptions of said problems in the manual are creepy enough. It's sort of a "ohhh noooo" as you realize what the issue is. It's subtle, but I appreciate it for that. It's the horror in treating fantastic/horrific stuff like it's normal and mundane.
