There are so many good ideas here. It's a shame they're in such a tedious game.

The game is gorgeous. The paper and cardboard style is taken advantage of beautifully. The music is great. There are truly impressive set pieces.

But none of that really matters when it's all held together by boring drudgery. Much like Yoshi's Crafted World, it's all style. It's a shame Nintendo became so insistent on abandoning the formula of the first two Paper Mario games.
