An internet-born aesthetic found in video games and art from the late-2010s and 2020s that focuses on the heavy use of dithering or extremely detailed and gritty 1-bit pixel art, typically as a means of adding a unique visual flair to environments or user interfaces that is informed and inspired by old, muted, low-color displays like the Macintosh Plus and Game Boy.
