Completed on 3DS, tried in an emulator. Take one of the best Sonic games and make it one of the most mediocre ever. Sonic Gens 3DS isn’t really all that bad at a first glance. The music’s pretty boppin’, the graphics look alright for the 3DS, and the controls are responsive. But the level design. Oh, the level design. There’s barely any here. Not a single stage is memorable outside of the stage themes, and all of them are boost-to-win. This kills an otherwise potentially good platformer if more care was given to this aspect.
Completed on 3DS. Seriously, WTF happened here? The first game was pretty fun, but this one is downright frustrating. Remember the cast from the first game? Pretty much non-existent here. Akeno and the other girl (forgot her name, sorry) were cool, but they were replaced with some other two. And these guys just don’t compare at all. The gameplay of the first game was completely renovated for something infinitely more frustrating. You have a time travel mechanic, but I swear it’s either bugged up the ass or just frustrating to work with. 90% of the time it was just trial and error. Also, every other chapter is a boring text adventure. You have to go to certain places and talk to certain people. Not only is it unfun, it just kills the pace. Furthermore, I wish the game marked where you needed to go when you triggered a certain dialogue. That would’ve made it a lot easier. Overall, it’s a mediocre mess that I just can’t bring myself to recommend .

Completed on a New 3DS. It was fun, but the controls were really a turn off for me. So many times I would just fall into the abyss/lava when I feel like I really shouldn't have. (I think it's because your momentum doesn't carry over fully into jumps, but I didn't test this) Everything even is good, though. It has good music, nice level design, and great graphics, especially with the 3D on.

Beaten on a PC. I thought this version SUCKED at first. I hated nearly everything about it compared to Rebirth. But 20 hours later? It's actually pretty fun. Isaac is a randomly generated roguelike where you play as Isaac, fighting monsters, your mom, and even Satan along your way with your own sadness. The controls are okay but leave a lot to be desired. Shooting feels nice but movement is janky. The graphics are okay; nothing compared to Repentance but they somewhat hold up. The initial reason why I disliked Flash was because of its difficulty, but now I find it pretty easy. Overall, while Flashsaac is not as good as Rebirth, it's still a good time today.
I'm mixed on WotL. On one hand, it adds a crap ton of mechanics to the game that make it new and fresh. On the other hand, it has a cheap, fucking obnoxious difficulty spike. For one, there are new floors. The Cellar, Catacombs, and Necroplis. The latter two are fine; it's the fucking cellar. The Cellar is one of the worst designed areas I've ever seen with extremely annoying enemies to boot. Seriously, who thought spiders were a fun enemy? Second, the new bosses are terrible. Any boss that either A: Summons monsters or B: has a shield around their weakness is a bitch of a time. Looking at you, Mask of Infamy! Also, Isaac (the fight) is a cheap HP drainer that made me debate whether I should continue playing Isaac. Oh, and curses. I love getting punished for doing literally nothing wrong! Overall, I couldn't get down with WotL. It's too frustrating and unfun BS to me. It has good things in it, but man. Fuck that difficulty.

Beaten on a PC via Steam. Easily one of my favorite 2D platformers, and my second favorite Gunvolt gamr. The combo game is so satisfying and fluid, the music is fucking awesome, the ranking system is AMAZING, and the bosses are a lot of fun. Really, it only comes down to 2 issues. One; the game is too short (this was remedied in later patches, but the game is still short), and 2; this game is pretty easy. I love Kirin's gameplay, but if you really don't give a fuck, switch to Gunvolt to kill everything in almost one shot. He has a timer but he is still too easy. Other than that, 10/10 game that I can recommend to 10/10 people.

Dropped on PC via Steam. I really disliked this one, both as a rhythm and Dark Witch game. The charting is like an average 14 y/o FNF mod; it’s not fun at all and it feels more frustrating if anything. The boing boings also feel annoying; half of the time bosses will just spam random notes whenever they feel like it, catching you offguard at the worst possible moments. And finally, the higher difficulties are really unfun. Anything above Hard is just terrible. Overall, I don’t like this one, and after the first 8 stages, I was fucking done.
