a few notes about heisei gamera some may find enticing:

- steven seagal's daughter, ayako fujitani, is a main character
- co-founder of gainax shinji higuchi, who co-directed shin godzilla w/ anno, was designer

these are dark, weird, violent kaiju movies—especially revenge of iris—and you'll enjoy them if you like stuff like evangelion

Fujitani also started in and authored the novel on which Anno's film Ritual is based, as well basically being overall creative co-conspirator for the adaptation; imho one if thr best movies of the 00s and she's a revelation in it.
