Released across the May, August, and November 2015 version updates, Rhapsodies of Vana'diel is designed to be the conclusion of the main scenario missions of Final Fantasy XI, tying together plotlines and characters from across the game's previous stories. Completing the missions requires registration of and progression through all previous expansion packs. Other additions include the new areas Escha and Reisenjima and new trusts.

Also gonna write a proper review of this one once I actually finish it but I just gotta say, while I appreciate adding more things to the game that make it more friendly to solo players it is incomprehensible to me why you would lock that behind progressing in a story that is supposed to tie up all the other stories.
I want to save this whole thing for the end but I also want to be able to summon 4 trusts so I guess I had to start the first few missions of a story that I won't see the end of for probably years.

Really ballsy of them to have a big wrap up storyline that connects all previous expansions only to have most old characters contribute very little and instead focus on a brand new character. No actually despite some of the more contrived parts, much of it felt like it was speaking directly to the player and their time with the game. It is both a story finale and meaningful player closure (even more so for long time players). Not to mention a number of cutscenes providing killer fanservice.
