The first resident evil game I ever played and beat, way back on the gamecube as a wee lad. Having Billy/Rebeccca to walk with me made me feel a lot safer. I was so surprised to see, decades later, that people looking back didn't like Zero for any number of reasons. A shame. I get it, weapons are nerfed, the train is ass to replay, the partner characters aren't implemented the best, but... Zero'll always have a special place in my heart. A shame Rebecca forgets how to kill a zombie immediately after the game ends though

Definition of the most middle of the ground release I've ever played.

While it’s over-hated, it still has some massive issues.

I had a rough relationship with this game for a long time. However, after a replay in 2024, I have a newfound appreciation for this entry in the RE franchise. It really is just more RE1, but not as good.

The coop aspect is the main difference from the rest of the franchise, at least at the time. It must be noted, even though RE5 and 6 did it way later, 0 has the best controls over your partner in single player. I rarely had times where my partner was causing issues for me, where the later entires were destroyed by bad AI. Whoever you’re not playing as has solid AI and can be controlled either by the right analog stick or with status settings in the inventory menu. Having a partner did not make the game worse, if only that could be said for 5 and 6.

While being able to drop items sounds like a great idea, the removal of the item box really sucks. Like really bad. Having to transport your stuff over and over throughout the game as you unlock new areas is very frustrating and tiring. I spent so much time traversing areas solely to keep hauling my items that it wasn’t even funny. I wonder if, during testing, they found item boxes to not work as intended or maybe they followed feedback from people saying they wanted to be able to drop items where ever they wanted. Regardless, this is the worst part of the game. Special shoutout to the hook shot that takes up 2 slots and you have to lug it around throughout most of the game.

Combat is the same as RE1R, so it’s what you would expect from a classic survival horror game. I never really felt like I was going to run out of ammo or ink ribbons, but that may be since I play very cautiously and try to avoid combat and save infrequently. Having a buddy to help you if you get grabbed is fun when it pays off. Weapons feel good to use and this may have the best shotgun in the series.

The story feels like they did their best to justify its existence, but it feels out of place in the series. Like how have we never heard of Dr. Marcus and why have the leeches never come up either? Wesker and Birkin were friends? Why did Rebecca not mention anything of what happened to her to Chris when he gets to the Mansion? Where on Earth is Billy Coen after 0? How did Alpha team not know about the giant explosion at the Training Facility or the Ecliptic Express’ derailment? I know, they wrote this game after the release of RE1 so they couldn’t account for these plot points, but the fact that this story has no repercussions for anything going forward in the series has always stuck out to me as very odd.

RE0 is absolutely worth playing for fans of classic survival horror. It has some quirks, and some baffling design choices, but it really is a great game overall. Not the best in the series by a long shot, but I really underestimated it over the years and I’m glad I came back and gave it another chance.

yok olm oynayamıyom çok bayıyo

This felt like I was playing Getting Over It: but instead of climbing, I was pulling my own teeth out with pair of rusty pliers; and instead of falling, each tooth I failed to yank out would instantly regrow all my other teeth back, forcing me to start all over again.

I REALLY had to force myself to finish this one

It certaintly has some pros. It looks beautiful. Like RE remake, the visuals were ahead of their time.

On paper, I like the partner system. I like the concept of teaming up, sharing inventory, and assigning each character to a role basically.

The opening on the train is pretty damn good. It is 100% the best part of the game.

So that's the thing: when your highlight is the first level, and the rest of the game dosent live up to it, that's a really bad sign.

The system on paper is fun, but in execution this is such a slog to utilize. The real culprit behind why this dosent work is that you have so many items that take up 2 slots. The hookshot in particular is a big pain to lug around. It's also super bs the game dosent actually tell you when you don't need it anymore. When you have a keycard to open a door though, it tells you when to discard it. I don't get it. So your inventory, even with 2 characters is way too limiting: sometimes one weapon takes up 2 slots. Then you have ammo for the weapon, a healing item... sometimes you'll only have 1-2 slots max for picking up important items.

The enemies and level design are just so frustrating in this game. Every type of encounter just feels so stiff and annoying even with modern controls. The monkeys are the worst. Just jumping around all over the place.

The characters have different roles, which I would normally like:Rebecca is the only one who can combine herbs, while Billy is generally more tanky and does more damage. But the problem is that they decided to make Rebecca have the defenses of a wet piece of paper. She gets touched like 2 times and she's already below half. And again, this would be fine, but then they seperate her many many times and she has to fend for herself.

I also can't stand the "drop your items" mechanic here. Because the boxes aren't realistic? Oh but you can't drop TOO MANY items in the same room, the game won't let you. That's way more realistic.

I don't really care for the story in any of these games, but the one we got here is just the worst of them all. The worst villain of the franchise, ugly design, motivation makes no sense. Billy and Rebecca are fun together but they have barely any scenes. Most of it is just exposition.

This Resident Evil game just gets nearly everything wrong. It has good ideas and glimpses of something cool, but it never gets to any level of enjoyment.

It took me many years to beat this game because it was so dull and tedious. At least now I never have to play it again.
