Even though I have issues with the later game areas, Hades feels like an evolution of the roguelite experience. I absolutely love this game. I love the combat, boons, movesets, enemies, and bosses of this game. It's punishingly difficult, yet the progression makes it feel like Zagreus is getting stronger and you are getting better. However, the story is what has kept me interested and continuing to play. This was my first roguelite, and since them I've found I really enjoy this genre. I feel this game is a great entry point into the genre, even if it is very different from other roguelites and roguelikes.
Hades is an amazing experience and the way that the game grabs you from the beginning up until the end is fascinating! I love how the game doesn't start with like a cutscene or something but instantly plops you into the game without any knowledge or anything and whenever you do eventually die there are plenty of people waiting for you to interact with from the very beginning! And the characters are charming with their own bits of story and lore and they feel so alive! Great game with a solid gameplay loop and interesting story!
