Playing this game is like eating a really green banana

Everyone has already told you that it's too green, it's not going to taste any good but you eat it anyway unaware of the warnings like a fool's errand

So when you peel the banana you start to notice that it is hard to peel, breaks little by little chipping away skin making it a hard task and makes you wonder why didn't you listen in the first place

Then you take a bite, THEN you start regretting 100% the choice, there is no flavor, it taste like nothing and the texture reminds you of the bark of a tree if anything equally unsavory.

But you eat it anyway, you can't waste a banana like that, you already opened the fruit so out of stubbornness and pride you are going to eat it whole

So now I warn you, don't play this game it is too green to eat

I know this is apparently DLC but this is literally the exact same game. The EXACT same. Just with a different less interesting environment and a bigger focus on gunplay alongside melee combat. I’ll pass thanks

Games I Like That Everybody Else Dislikes

So rigorously, fundamentally garbage that it actually spins back into brilliance. I've always found something tantalizingly awful about this series, they're so fucking stupid and hilariously bad that it's a blast every time - I really don't think these get the meme treatment they deserve a la something like Knack does. Literally just an even lazier reskin of the original with bugged trophies, a wide array of laughable visual errors, and another disgusting showcase of the seventh generation's Play-Doh facial animations. Evokes such peaks of human emotion as you go from wanting to die to heights of side-splitting hilarity at its total incompetence that you reach some form of enlightenment. Have such fond memories with this one, objectively a huge disaster - imagine wanting your name attached to this in any way lmfao. "So bad it's good" has never been such a shrewd motherfucker, even better with friends.

Going into this standalone expansion to the base game of Dead Island, I was expecting more of the same... and that's pretty much what I got. However, it did feel marginally better in some ways, with the pacing in particular feeling much snappier and (thankfully) ending much sooner than last time. I particularly enjoyed the simple addition of having the characters speak out of cutscenes rather than just give repeated quips for every scenario. Really helped to sell their personalities a lot more than the base Dead Island.

All in all, still a pretty decent time with some interesting gameplay scenarios and narrative moments.

6/10

If you like the first Dead Island then you will enjoy Riptide, if not you will feel unhappy playing practically the same game again with few differences that differ from the original game.

good lord i cannot play this, i dont know whether its just me or if its the game but this feels so awful to control and its just so ugly to look at

Love zombie games. I thought the setting and gameplay were far superior in this dead island over the first game. There were some great weapon types like the sniper rifle and the Chinese war sword that were extremely satisfying to use. Weapon modifications were always fun as well.

Terribly boring game, I'm tired of running.

Just as shitty, if not slightly worse, than the first game.

I still like killing zombies though regardless of game quality so it has that going for it.

At the beginning i was enjoying it more than Dead Island 1, but then it all went to shit later on because yet again this game is plagued by so many fucking bugs and glitches, it's so easy to get stuck and die and in turn lose money (Yes, you lose money in this game every death like the first one, genuinely one of the worst fucking things in this whole game, especially because 80% of your deaths will be from bugs.)

Apart from the bugs, dogshit game design, the story is really boring and never picked up anywhere. I didn't even do all the side quests like i did in the first one because holy shit these ones are so goddamn repetitive and boring and i genuinely just wanted to finish the game.

The maps in this game = HORRENDOUS, at times they expect you to go through a complex place with no fucking guidance other than a green circle, and the maps certainly dont help because there are no actual waypoint lines like other games so you are bound to walk into dead ends multiple times (i did). Also i fucking hated the boat in this game, obviously needed for the jungle since its flooded but those dumb fucking water zombies make it so slow to get anywhere.

Basically the only good thing about this game are the locations, the Jungle and Henderson is beautiful, but the feel and vibe of those beautiful places are completely removed when you realize youre playing this game and youre gonna go do some more repetitive shit filled with bugs right when you move from a beautiful location. When i first came to Henderson i thought it looked beautiful, which it really does! But i was instantly hit with a dreaded main quest where i had to walk back and forth making me stressed (in a genuinely dreadful way because of how repetitive this game is) which then took me out of the "wow this is beautiful" vibe and took me straight into despair and the feeling of dread making the location not seem so beautiful anymore.

The combat is a little bit improved, with a few more abilities for all heroes. I really appreciate the fact they added the "Staff" Because its genuinely the only hand weapon that actually feels fast, the others feel so slow but the staff is faster than every other hand weapon. Which made the combat more bearable, also had to resort to using guns later on because i got so fucking bored with the hand weapon combat even with the staff, but the staffs kept me going early on and when i had no ammo. Hand combat is slow as fuck is what i'm trying to say.

Obviously i've written a lot of shit about this game but i did enjoy parts of it, i will never make myself play it again though.

Not as good as the original at but serviceable.

Mt divertido

obs: mas meio quebrado

praticamente uguale all'altro, sempre giocato con handy

Replayed this recently after having only played it when it launched. While I would rather be parkouring everywhere like in Dying Light, the original Dead Island games were fun for what they were. This one stumbles a lot at the end but I'm satisfied with having revisited it in 2023.

Basically the first game. That is all.

This game is boring, man. I just play for a few hours and can't stand more, it's my first contact with the franchise and I really hope the others games are better than this one. My luck is that I don't pay for this garbage.

Torturous, especially the water segments which made me lose my sanity.

One of the worst moments I've had and there were a ton of them: I drove to a location with my boat, seeing the autosave I leave the game thinking I'll just continue the next day.

Nope.

It respawns me to the location where I first got the boat, which is fine, although the boat is at the location where I left it the day before.

So, I swim through the zombies and just the unbearable pain of fighting them in the water to finally reach the location, go into some loading zone, finish a quest, go back, and...

THE BOAT DECIDED TO RANDOMLY RESPAWN TO THE BEGINNING SECTION WHERE IT WAS THE VERY FIRST TIME.

If I wasn't a masochistic perfectionist with an abnormally stupid rule to beat every single game, at least the story element, I would've dropped this game 7 times at the minimum.

Overall a shorter expansion of the original
