The hands of death could not defeat him. The Sisters of Fate could not hold him. And Zooos will not see the end of this day. Kratos will have his revenge!

The final of the greek saga, chronological speaking and a worth final to that. Kratos is in his most brutal and most psychotic in this game. He once again goes so far to mutilate those who don't deserve. In the games final moments though when he meet Pandora you can see some of his humanity shine. This is pretty much my favorite version of Kratos when looking at the greek and norse saga at once.

The games story is pretty much a long epilog to GOW2's ending. Going to all of Olympus and seeing Kratos deal with all the gods who stand in his way is very fun, bloody and intruiging. It's not as good as its two predecessors but still great. It might have the best boss fights in the series.

Once again the gameplay is similar to it's predecessors but with some minor changes. This time you are able to ride on cyclopses and cerberus dogs after stunning them. The weapon variety is great once again, though I would have prefered not to have so many blades with chains in it.

The score offers some new great soundtracks. Rage of Sparta anyone?

There isn't much else to say. Kratos development from an broken warrior who is haunted by his nightmares to a raging lunatic was done really well and it always makes me ask how this Kratos would have dealt with Ares.

9/10 Times the circle button gets pushed to it's limits.

that they rebooted this trashcore franchise into an oscarbait game is a more embarassing statement on the industry than the existence of Kingdom Hearts

has one of the worst plot mcguffins in history but has some of the greatest boss fights in any video game

peak fiction

In its third attempt, God of War finally manages to invite me in an epic greek journey over its own structure. It legit knows how to flow the game and configure the playground to include the player in this cinematic and apotheotic fantasy.

I finally know why the fuck there are so many gears and engines in Greek and that alone makes it better than its predecessor; a better-measured triumph that didn't try to sabotage my experience with its lack of convergence and patience.

God of War III give me faith; the faith that I used to feel the power fantasy killing gods and destroying Olympus. And I'm happy that I can finally write that.

An incredible masterpiece and amazing entry in the god of war series. all aspects of the game play some how feel even more smooth and incredible than before, and the visuals are simply fantastic, especially for the ps3. the story was also more front and centre in this game, and it did not disappoint. the levels where you play on Gaia as she climbs the mountain of Olympus blew me away like very few levels ever have.

Easily my favorite of the older games before the 2018 soft reboot just because not only is the scale and sheer spectacle raised to ridiculous heights, but this time around the combat system can actually back it up too. I never liked how the previous two games felt to actually play because of how health spongey everything was and there just wasn't enough variety in Kratos' moveset to hold either game up for very long, even if they were impressive back then on the PS2.

God of War 3 gives Kratos four different weapons, four utility items that aren't just for puzzles but give an actual use in combat as well, upgrades have meaningful additions than just "more damage", and the enemy design is much more polished in favor of giving the player a fair challenge without being overly tedious this time around. The level design has also nailed the perfect balance of quiet time and fun puzzles to solve without going too overly long without something else happening to break up the silence and monotony. It's just a really fun campy time that also happens to be one of the most violent video games I have ever played! like jesus christ oh my god some of those kills go far

There is something to be said about the way 3 handles and writes its female characters. Everybody in this universe sucks and isn't a good person, but there's something about how 3 only makes its women either damsels in distress that Kratos uses and/or abuses, or despicable greedy good-for-nothings that Kratos just abuses. There's almost something there with Pandora, but it's too little too late and not to mention she's more of a MacGuffin, a means to an end more than an actual person. I don't think it's enough to ruin the game per se, but more just a weird thing that felt kind of noticeably strange and off. The other games in the series can be mean-spirited and Kratos isn't a good guy, but 3 seems to draw more attention to this aspect in a way that kind of makes me give the side-eye to whatever was going on with the writers.

Like, what the fuck was with the needless bit with Poseidon's Princess? I think Santa Monica Studio must have realized years later how gross and in poor taste of a bit it was considering the PS4 remaster removes a trophy that was named "I didn’t do it... But I wish I did!" for killing her but like, holy shit, that probably wasn't okay even for 2010 standards? Can't wait to see how the 2018 game will justify that one.

I went on YouTube one day just to watch all the gods get killed so I think I pretty much played this

Kratos is really angry in this one...

While he has a little more nuance in GoW 1 & 2, he is completely one-note in the 3rd iteration. The man is just so upset it feels like this game is borderline self-parody. Like what the hell is the matter with him?! Kratos acts like a bonafide "Karen" throughout GoW 3, long before that term even was a thing.

Somebody needs to give this man a Snickers bar or something... he's being an annoying, insufferable asshole, bringing mass suffering and death to God, Titan, and mortal alike... all while playing, I was thinking to myself: someone has to stop this man! Truly, the real villain of the game... but hey, at least to soften the blow of playing as this evil piece of shit, they make everyone else real bastards too. To quote the great Tyrion Lannister: "Why are all the gods such vicious cunts? Where is the god of tits and wine?"

I'm just thankful that the soft reboot in God of War 2018 gave Kratos something he sorely needed - actual character, growth, and development!

Easily my least favorite God of War game in the original trilogy, but still a good game showcasing the power of the PS3. The game's scope and scale are impressive still to this day.

This game is as good as how Kratos is in bed.

After playing the first two original games which were mostly alright I already knew that God of War III would be the greatest game of the trilogy, though I still had my doubts, and god I was so wrong for doubting the quality of this game since it turned out to be one of the greatest action game I had ever played.

God of War III is pretty much all of the things we all loved from the two original games but better in every way such as the combat instead of giving us new abilities like in the two older titles they decided it was time to do what DMC does and add multiple weapons. Adding 3 more weapons is an alright choice, honestly I never really used them other than the fists weapon and the basic blades but it's still a nice change of pace.

The greatest change from the previous two games is the pacing and level design, GOW 1 and 2 often made us stale on certain dungeons with repetitive pushing puzzles and a bunch of boring enemy waves but GOW 3 decided it was time to throw out the pushing gameplay and pretty much got rid of any type of puzzles and replacing it with really good boss battles and good combat segments.

The pacing is wonderful in this game, the enemy combat segments are never too long, whenever you get bored of a place there's a new boss to fight and then the loop continues and it works oh so well due to the bosses being really fun to fight and watch the over the top QTEs that comes with it.

This game is pretty much the action game power trip I've been looking for ever since I finished Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Metal Gear Solid Rising, I'm so glad to have finally decieded to attack this franchise and I hope God of War 4 will be as good as this game.

God of war ends here, masterpiece!

Kratos has conquered his vengeance. Olympus has fallen.

God of War 3 is a great end to this saga of Greek mythology God of War. The gigantic set pieces are here to truly tell an epic end to the story, but sprinkled in are some nice puzzles here and there.

Combat is impactful and grand as usual in this action-heavy combat system. Especially with the Nemean Cestus weapons!

The set pieces, while they are grand, the quick-time events can be a tad much with them. Which can drag down the pacing within those fights.

Story wise, it develops Zeus' motives more than just him wanting Kratos dead for the wrath he's caused on Olympus. There's a reason he feels this way which makes a lot of sense to the overall story. All of the beats themselves are well spread out, but sprinkled in between with some more intense moments. Kratos's vengeance is a bit much, sure. However, Kratos actually feels like he grows at the end of the story, even if just for a bit. Which doesn't happen all that much in this series at the time. The Labyrinth area does overstay its welcome a bit, but at least it changes to keep puzzles and combat areas different.

Puzzles, while some are grand, some do not feel like they fit in this world that much. You play a Guitar Hero-like mini-game for a section. Which feels out of place in this series.

Overall, I definitely love how this closes out the Greek Mythology saga within God of War. It does close out this chapter very well, even with Kratos's unyielding desire for vengeance. The world is grand as the debut PS3 title for Sony Santa Monica, a majority of the puzzles work well and make you think. Combat is fantastic and is a high point of the whole Greek Saga.

Definitely recommend if you already enjoy the series!

The bosses are by far the highlight of the game, which is saying a lot when the regular areas are so amazing themselves. So many memorable moments for a game that is not at all lengthy. The combat does overstay its welcome and get pretty tedious at times when destroying hordes of enemies.

Solidified kratos as the most raw mf in the gaming genre im not tryna hear anything else

FInally, the first GoW game that I've actually completed xd
The previous 2 games I just couldn't find much fun in, they felt too hack'n'slash, but this one does it for me.
Poggie game .w.

“My vengeance ends now”

An incredible conclusion to this trilogy. God of War III takes what works in the first two games and improves everything. The combat is wonderful, it’s so smooth and satisfying and works better than ever, with the absolute best selection of weapons in the whole series. Every moment of this game is invigorating, every set piece and puzzle is great, and watching Kratos effortlessly rip through the gods and titans is way too satisfying. The graphics are incredible, it doesn’t even look like a PS3 game. The story is great and sets such a perfect ending for this trilogy. I recommend God of War III and the previous two entries to everyone, easily one of gamings finest trilogies.

Somewhat debated giving it a 5 star but it’s just not quite there. It is however an excellent game and I can say without a doubt this is the best game in the original series. The boss fights are the highlight of this game. Each one was a sight to behold, so fun, and unique. Gameplay was great again. The story wasn’t as strong but was still good enough. Kratos manages to be even more angry and cooler than before. The only thing I didn’t like was the twist at the end after the credits roll. I mean I get it, without it the series is over and no GOW 2018 but I honestly felt like how it ended before the credits would have been a beautiful ending to the vengeful series. So close to hitting masterpiece level for me but still an elite level game. I’m so glad I finally played this series and I’m excited to start GOW 2018 tomorrow.

GOAT

this happened to me once but instead of greek gods it was homeless crackheads

FYI still the best og GoW game, the best combat with the best weapon variety and upgrade system. The most well-designed bosses, the best scope and pure spectacle and the most entertaining characters across the entire franchise.

If I feel a bit more cynical I would criticize the story for lacking any and all subtetly and for being dumb as a rock generally speaking but fuck it, Hermes singing to Kratos about his family being dead is the most hysterical shit I've ever seen. This game is all balls-to-the-walls style, low subtance but subtance is overrated anyways.

Probablemente el segundo mejor god of war en aspectos de combate y sin duda el mas viceral y impactante visualmente.
Lastimosamente la historia es un poco infatil al final, pero cumple su cometido.

On my first time around this was my first ever GOW game, and as a game I thought it was good but not great, another game to add to the pile of spectacle fighters with a very shallow system. Now after playing all of the Greek Sega of GOW; I was such a fucking asshole.

Not only is this technically the best GOW in terms of gameplay; where it fixes most problems with the additional weapons along with making it even more fluid, but I've never seen a series have such a fantastic glow-up before. The jump from the PS2 to PS3 really was the last time games really felt like it had a graphical upgrade.

The story is about on par with GOW1; where it's very straightforward; but seeing Kratos go through his rowing rampage of revange is both a fantastic fest of over-the-time gratuitous violence, and making what is possibly the most successful slasher movie/video game ever.
Watching Kratos have this slow descent into madness and losing all of his humanity over the course of 5 games really does give a lot of the moments in this game a lot more weight. I think back to the scenes in GOW Ghost of Sparta where he tries desperately to save his brother who he genuinely cares about, and afterward failing to save Deimos he reflects onto all of the horrors he's caused over the course of GOW Chains of Olympus, GOW1, and Ghost of Sparta, seeing himself as this monster that everyone else sees him as, and now he's killing millions of people just as a way of getting revenge on one individual. Kratos has become a full-blown monster in this game and it's genuinely horrifying watching him kill people the further the game goes, you almost want him to stop at some points.

The only aspect I don't like compared with GOW2 is that this entry is a lot more forced on having these big spectacle scenes so sometimes a lot of the fights feel very easy and don't have as much variety as GOW2 or even GOW1 at some points.

Easily the best in the original trilogy.

Glad I didn't grow up with this franchise, teenage me might've taken it seriously.

There are QTEs for Sex

10/10 Game

Não vou me estender muito, a real conclusão do kratos esta aqui. Muito foda lutar contra os deuses ainda mais com o zeus que e realmente difícil a luta contra ele

Style over substance.

One of my only real problems with God of War 2 is that it didn't leave the sequel much to work with: Kratos already defeated Zeus, you can't really go up from there. Still, given how perfectly paced and compelling 2's narrative was; the awful pacing, tonal inconsistency, and lack of dramatic weight and character motivation in 3 is rather disappointing.

The game starts on an amazing note, but grinds to a halt just after and never reaches that same height again in my opinion. The gameplay is certainly fun, and the graphics are phenomenal, but even the quality of the game's set pieces I found to be rather inconsistent: Some of the boss fights were magnificent, but others were pitiful; Some enemy encounters are creative and engaging, others are tedious and frustrating; some character interactions and story beats are very compelling while others have my jaw hitting the floor at how unjustified and nonsensical they are. This is about as uneven a game as I've ever played.

I don't hate God of War 3, I still enjoyed my time with it, but it definitely left me wanting more. I find it ironic that the PS4 game felt so much more epic despite being more grounded with fewer characters, but that's a good example of why restraint is often necessary in the face of reckless ambition. In fact, I think 'reckless ambition' is the perfect way to describe this game. I am relieved that the series, much like Kratos himself, has calmed and matured.

this is just perfect videogame what the hell??? it's a third one and it's doesnt suck so much i just dont get it how is this created

peak of angry shit

The Norse GoW put me in the mood to revisit some of the Greek games, starting with the best one. Last time I played this was like 10 years ago, so I was very happy to see that my memories matched reality.

It's perfectly paced, with absolutely no filler and it never fucking stops. Took me a little over 11 hours, and didn't even feel like it. Played on Hard this time, which was a pain during a few fights. Was satisfying to beat Hard mode, but never again.

Playing this back-to-back with Dad of War really highlights how cheesy the story of the Greek saga was. Hilariously entertaining.

I would have platinumed this by now, but I don't have it in me to waste however much time doing a 1000-hit combo. As a sidenote, I always thought that box art to be horrendous.
