Paper Mario at it's absolute worst, maybe even Nintendo at its worst. The tedium, the backtracking, the convoluted mandatory puzzles that are near impossible without a guide lest you want to spend hours running around picking up random stickers hoping they solve the puzzle. It has bad gameplay, bad story, bad characters.

I'm not someone who just jumped on a hate bandwagon either, I've played the game to it's end and collected every thing sticker to unlock the secret sound test/music room it has. And yeah it's as bad as they say, maybe even worse than they say if you experience world 2 and 3 for yourself.

The only things this game does right is it's visuals which look really nice and it's music that is surprisingly good.

Overall could not recommend this game to anyone. It has very little to nothing for a long running Paper Mario fan, and any non Paper Mario fan looking for a simple Nintendo turn based 3DS game to play have the Mario & Luigi 3DS Titles right there.

really excited for when the rest of you decide to finally come around on this game as really fun and engaging in its own way. the OST is superb, and i genuinely like this more than ttyd. the executioner flips the switch and my electric chair buzzes on, killing me

14-year-old me bought this instead of Kid Icarus Uprising. He owes me 30 bucks.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR STICKER STAR AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. FOR THIS GAME. HATE. HATE.

imagine the starry eyes of a teen picking up the next entry in their favorite series and that happiness fading away in two minutes. thats what this game is for me

I used to play this when I was a lot younger until I got stuck on the fourth level and then I gave it away… then it took me until this year to find out you had to go down the waterfall. Also this is the only Paper Mario game I played extensively to some extent unless you count Paper Jam!

🖕

tempted to give this higher because it is "functional". its programming works as intended. it is technically a "video game".

...but it's also one of the most soulless, evil products ever conceived. every concept is either actively terrible or a poorly copied shadow of better ideas from previous, better games with mechanics and execution that seem almost ai-generated in their baffling levels of laziness and incompetence.

sticker star is a glimpse into a world without art and without joy. avoid it like the plague.

Genuinely one of the worst games I’ve ever played. Deserves every single lashing it still gets online.

I 100%d this game. No it is absolutely not worth it.

Extremely boring, monotonous, and an overall waste of time.

As a huge fan of the Mario RPG series of games, I was elated to find out a new title was coming to the 3DS. However, after playing the game, I couldn't help but feel frustrated by the lack of direction and thought put into the puzzles, bored with the lackluster plot, and tired of exploring the very cookie-cutter world.

I highly suggest you avoid this game. While there is competence in that there is technically a game here, there is nothing of worth for your time. It's the worst kind of game, not one that is good or so bad that it is interesting to play or fun to mess around in.

not as bad as rabid fans would have you believe but also certainly nothing special

This is one of the single worst games I've ever played in my fucking life, and is one of the most insulting pieces of media I've ever seen. No amount of being technically solid or looking or sounding good can save it from the detrimental effect it had on the franchise, and as far as I'm concerned, the franchise never recovered.

Terrible, pointless gameplay, a literal depressingly nothing plot, vapid level design, terrible puzzles, garbage bosses, uninteresting level design and locales, shitty writing, everything you loved about Paper Mario is gone and replaced with something else miserable, soulless, and hollow.

I spent 10 dollars on clearance for this game and still feel like I got ripped off.

This game is bad, but it’s not “whine about it for 10 years” bad.

Genuinely one of, if not the most boring game I've ever played.

what the fuck is your actual fucking problem

This game sucks, anyways have you heard of a great game titled Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling? Is pretty kino and you should play it 😃

Battle system? Has little to no depth or strategy and is insultingly easy, way more than the other games in the series.

Incentive for battling? literally the only thing you get for battling is coins (and the occasional sticker), you spend them on single use stickers which you need to do anything in battle so any non-required battle is a literal waste of time.

Story and characters? Non-existent for the former and very, very scarce for the latter, charm? Also very, very scarce.

worlds and creativity? new super mario bros.

positives? music and visual presentation is pleasant, mostly unremarkable but pleasant + the snifit or whiffit bit and the boo's mansion levels were pretty alright, little diamonds in the septic tank but it's something,

hotel? trivago.

I genuinely cannot convince myself to come back to this game, it's that bad.

This is the most offensively bad game that I have ever played, and I cannot comprehend how anyone could think this game isn't objectively terrible. It's as if the devs looked at everything that made the first two games so incredible and just said "ehh, nah".

This game is probably the most overhated game I know, and it's not even close
I understand why people are disapointed because the previous entry in the serie are all GOATED, but this is far from a bad game

color splash and origami king at least have good exploration

This game was decent! But from this point on is definitely where I lose interest in the paper Mario series

Look how they massacred my boy…

Can you even call it a JRPG when the whole gameplay loop is buying & finding disposable items, then using them against useless enemy counters, just to make money to spend on the same disposable items?

This game was extremely unentertaining to kid me and I find that impressive
I didn't like it when I was like 10
