Um jogo mto mais bonito doq divertido, com mtos comandos mal responsivos q vc não tem como saber o tempo do comando, corrigiram um pouco com as versões mais recentes ao menos.

Nota: 4/10 (★★) - Ruim

This is a weird one. It features some wonderful animation from Don Bluth that's always a delight to watch. But gameplay wise it's more like an interactive movie you complete through trial and error. The game gives you a very small window of time to react and sometimes there's little indication of what button you need to press. Basically, it's an entire game of quick time events. At least you get to watch a fun death animation each time you die.

Of course, you could always play this game with a guide telling you exactly what to press and when, which I'd honestly recommend. This one's more for the spectacle than the gameplay.

I feel bad for the people that have only played the arcade version or the many home ports of varying quality. Dragon's Lair Trilogy on Wii is a way better way to play the game, makes it way more accessible plus removes a lot of the bullshit timing of the other versions. That being said, this isn't a very replayable game.

No - I refuse point blank to give this anything more than one and a half stars. Graphically its gorgeous but quite frankly if I wanted to watch a second rate Don Bluth cartoon, i'd buy a dvd or rent something online.

Gameplay wise this is just one over-long QTE sequence where sheer memorisation triumphs over any sort of skill. Thankfully I have the PC version so I dont have to spend out the sheer amount of credits this game must have demanded to make any degree of progress. Just bleh.

Gorgeously animated cut scenes mixed with dogshit platforming.

An incredibly horny LaserDisc game with animation from Don Bluth. The Dragon's Lair compilation trilogy might be the most accessible way to play these games, but even then you'll still have to make an effort to complete it. It's honestly a game I find appealing even today, the amazing animation helps, but the way the game sells the adventure with emphasis on how the player interacts with it and its hero Dirk especially.

Dragon's Lair, a vintage piece from the crypt of arcade horrors. Imagine the agony of trial and error, akin to trying to comprehend the chaos of a Discord server with too many bots. The game's unique selling point? You get to experience a multitude of spectacular deaths in gorgeous animation. It's like playing a twisted version of "Choose Your Own Death Adventure." The controls are about as reliable as a $5 psychic reading. While some may revel in the nostalgia, it's more of a "look, but don't touch" affair. A generous 4/10 for the pain-soaked journey through Dragon's Lair.

Too bad you can't see how pretty this game looks when you're staring wide-eyed and unblinking at the onscreen button prompts, so you don't get killed for the 200th time. Some of the scenes also require near instantaneous reaction speeds to avoid death. I wouldn't even consider this to be a game really. Watching all the different scenes on YouTube would have been a much more pleasant experience.

Fucking dragons lair owns. Me in the lads were at a con that had a sick arcade area with this game in it and we played that shit for hours until we actually beat it. Thank god it didn’t actually cost real quarters

Don Bluth animations packaged in an innovative new meld of gameplay and animation. While it's just a sequence of quick time events (before that term was coined), it was incredible unique for its time. I think it also previewed how players would develop a stronger sense of immersion into a cinematic story by getting to control parts of that story through the character. In a sense it defined one of the key aspects of video games that set it apart from movies and tv shows.

Somewhat charming, if you don't actually have to spend any real world money for continues.

This is a fun animated movie, but it's miserable as a videogame.

Parte 2 — Los 80: Caída y Resurgir

Juego 52: Dragon's Lair (1983)

wow that sure is animated well, Don Bluth was great wasn't he

God damn this game is pretty... But that's pretty much it the gameplay is really repetitive and unfair, it gets old fast.

This game screams classic arcade games. The Story is that Dirk the Daring, a bumbling/ funny knight saves the seducing Princess Daphne from an evil dragon, classic story for arcade games, and improved above just the cliche from having the knight be what I just said he is. The Voice acting works well too, it is the same kind you could expect from a Don Bluth Project. The Graphics are hand drawn 2D and beautiful, in the Don Bluth style, bringing a new groundbreaking kind of animation for arcade games. The Gameplay has you press the right directional buttons or the sword button at the right time, for every right task or you die in a funny way, warning they don't warn you when to make a choice, you have to think when to do that yourself, which helps with people thinking for themselves. The Music is great, it's soothing and cartoony style improve the already great atmosphere. Dragon's Lair is one of the best arcade games out there.

While Shenmue was the one to finally give it a name 16 years later, Dragon's Lair is the true inventor of the Quick Time Event. Of course, the entire game is a massive series of them. Due to this game's gorgeous animation by legendary animator Don Bluth, this was essential however as while a Cuphead type game with Bluth animation would be spectacular, it simply was not feasible with the tech in 1983 so the interactive movie will have to do. However the animation alone makes this game worth playing on Modern Platforms, if you just want to see the beauty of the visuals without having to be a QTE master. Failing ain't so bad either, as you can see the many, many ways Dirk the Daring becomes Dirk the Dying. Deaths aren't the only funny thing as I got a few chuckles out of the creatures and the water ride section. Some sections tend to repeat (albeit mirrored) though which feels like padding, but the game is so short it's a minor eye roll at worst except when you get a few of them at once, then it's a slightly bigger one. Everyone remembers Princess Daphne though and I'm surprised a game was allowed to be that horny.

All in all, whether you're an animation fan, have some interest in video game history, have an odd QTE fetish, or looking for a unique way to kill an hour, I think Dragon's Lair is an essential game in those specific categories. For the first timer, I recommend the settings where you can use continues but have to clear all the QTEs in a section before you can move on to the next, just so you can see the game, and then later decide if you're up for the true QTE challenge!

Does anyone actually like Dragon's Lair or is it one of those joke things?

a comely pirate lass who wants to part you from your doubloons as quickly as possible

this game technically isn't very food but my experience over one spring break meticulously memorizing every input and researching dragon's lair project to see how the level selection algorithm worked to get the max score possible CANNOT be beaten

I'd be lying if I said this game was fun to play, but damn do I like looking at it.

This is the Game of 1983 in the same way that Time Magazine makes fascists Person of the Year sometimes. The psychic damage Dragon's Lair has done is still being felt in every Sony first party release.

my friend bari got to witness me slowly regain the ability to finish this game in the oldass emulator i had on a usb drive and we both pogged when i finally did it
