A good game in it's own right, even if I'm sure its been made obsolete for a while now.
The story of this game is fantastic. Not only is there bits of story in the arcade mode, but an entire story mode comprised of cutscenes, basically functioning as a movie split into chapters. The arcade mode basically functions as a prologue, with the real meat being the story mode, which is wonderful. The animation may not be the best, and there may be little fights, but it all is worth it through the writing. I didn't expect it being as good as it was, and it all has me excited for the next portion of this story.
The gameplay is pretty similar to the last games, with some slight alterations, tweaks to movesets, and new characters. Many characters were cut, however, which makes me wonder if I can consider this game greater than Accent Core +R. With the game being made in Unreal Engine 3, it means the addition of a whole new dimension! Although it's still a 2d fighter, the addition of the game being made in 3d makes hits like Overdrives and story-related sequences all the more impactful. Visually it looks nice and the cel-shaded graphics gives a whole new life to the world. This alone would make playing the game worth it, even if it doesn't have as much content than the previous game. It plays nice.
It doesn't really need saying at this point, but the game's music is great. Every character was given new themes, and there are a number of vocal tracks that play during the story mode. However, my favorite song would be the arcade mode credits theme, Lily. It's a wonderful listen.
I really enjoyed going through this game, especially the story of it. Even though I deleted the game as soon as I finished it, I'll still be thinking about it as I play through the final two games!

Guilty Gear lore is insane and I love it. The level of effort that has gone into the story mode is insane, especially considering how segregated it is from the gameplay.

This was a good game and I like the approach to the story mode it has by making it essentially a giant movie. The story was good and The Conclave were interesting enough. 8/10

bought this version instead of rev just so i could hear yuri lowenthal as bedman

Im not a fans of 2d fighting game, but man why guilty gear's art and animation is so good 😭

Not gonna lie, I legit bought this for the story
It's good, a lot better than what you'd expect from a fighting game. If you actually want to play the game, get Rev 2 instead

man i gotta keep it real, i don't think i'm really feeling this as a whole, but i have a hunch that the jump to rev 1+2 might be enough to sway me the other way. here's hoping.

My Review here is based mostly on the story, as the gameplay is just Rev 2 but without most of the characters, which unfortunately makes this game largely a waste of time outside of the story mode.
Howver the story is pretty good story, enjoyed it

Back when I had barely any money as a middle schooler I played this game and got into fighting games. A lot of sentimental value along with Accent Core on PSP

I got this when it first came out and it didn't grab me at all. None of the characters felt fun, the story mode was a slog, and M.o.M. just sucks ass.

idk i'm just not really a fan of this one

Pretty fun fighter with memorable characters and a fucking insane story that leaves off on a big cliff-hanger that gets resolved in GGXrd Revelator.

The gameplay was solid, I suppose the story was decent enough.

Man, who knew I could take my "skill" from +R and start a new game with those same skills! I didn't! For some reason!

i dont know anything about the gameplay, but the story is interesting and i enjoyed it a lot

Utterly mind-blowing visuals at the time, Xrd started a new era for Arcsys fighting games.

GOING MY WAY

Game #90: Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign

Before starting Guilty Gear, I never expected this much of lore and story. And on top of that it has a fun combat system with really unique characters. I think this will be my favorite fighting game until I play Strive.

7/10

A great english dub was introduced here. The story mode had one or two memorable moments, the rest was pretty dull. The game itself was pretty fun. Not my favorite fighting game, but a good entry point to the Guilty Gear franchise.

Ram eating an hamburger is a key part of the lore, please, trust me!

I picked this up after relevator this game was fun it has lesser characters than rel but the story was alot of fun to watch it's just 5 hours of movie but it really was something I'm glad I played the game and not just watched it off YT
