Mercenary mode is what saved this game. Also has the best monster and character designs in the RE series.

A significant improvement over RE: Revelations

RER2 shines in so many places the original failed to. Compared to the original, RER2 has:
More of a sense of exploration
Some scary moments (more is better than none, right?)
Better music
Characters are much more specialized
Richer, deeper gameplay
Diversity of environments
There's no swimming mechanic anymore (thank the gods)

Overall it feels like a very different game. The biggest similarities are that you are always operating as a pair, although in the original the notion of having a teammate was a total farce. In RER2 your teammate is highly valuable, and extremely specialized. I found myself rhythmically toggling between partners in order to search, fight, and solve puzzles. There’s still a bit of the tedious nature in this dynamic, such as relying on one particular half of the pair to properly search.

There are some areas where, despite being a great game, RER2 falls a little flat:
- Inventory management is a constant chore. I found myself often going through a routine of passing ammo to the character that can use it, and freeing up space.
- While this sequel doesn’t hit you over the head with instructions as much as the original, it still does more so than it needs to. For example, I came across a brick wall with a giant X on it. When I explored it I was informed I needed a drill. And when I say explore, I mean in the non-diegetic sense whereas text appeared on screen to slap me in the face. This type of spoiler ruins that aw-ha moment you would have had when you found the drill. Allowing players to make connections is paramount to good design.
- Scanning for items with your counterparts ability, while still tedious like the scanning mechanic of this games predecessor, at least fits better into the game world. For example, using a flashlight to seek out items is a nice touch. However, constantly toggling to the flashlight character hurts the cadence of the gameplay.
- Grading, like the original, remains pointless. Unlike the original, RER2 adds a “next time” spoiler that you need to quickly skip. This isn’t a TV show and I don’t see the benefit in pretending it is.

RER2 seems to have been heavily influenced by games like The Last of Us, and mostly for the better. There’s the middle aged man and mysteriously important little girl dynamic. There’s the character that can essential wall hack. There’s stealth zombie kills. And you can sprint. Obviously TLOU didn’t invent any of these themes or mechanics, but the connection is clear.

Overall, RER2 was great fun. I was constantly engaged with the level design, characters, and themes. It still holds up fairly well today. If you are thinking of checking it out, feel free to skip Revelations 1 (just read a quick synopsis).

It's good but, it's story is sooo bland. It had great potential with but Capcom decided to make another Resident Evil 1 storytelling.

Its like Re5 but with an attempt at survival horror. Key word being attempt. Co-op is fun but the balancing on who gets to have fun is really really one-sided. Everything is kinda okay, but co-op just makes you not care as much.

6/10

This is a fun RE game but definitely not one of my favs. Some sections get to be bland and tedious. This installment felt more like psychological horror than survival horror, which was completely fine however the execution was a bit off. The atmosphere was boring compared to other RE games. The story is pretty cool and I enjoyed the expansions to the lore. The whole multiple endings thing is cool, but meeting the conditions for either ending requires making a specific decision in episode 3, meaning the second half of the game has to be played through completely twice to get the complete story. I feel like I will probably pick it back up in the future to get the other ending, but there are certain sections in the second half of the game that are so tedious that I probably won't be playing this one again for a minute

Amazing!
Good story, nice gameplay.

As much as I love the Resident Evil series and I enjoyed a ton Revelations 1, I can't recomment this one for a couple of reasons, and specially not if this will be your first experience with Resident Evil.

While the game is fun to play, there is a "gimmick" of switching between two stories, which starts becoming a hassle and certainly made the game less enjoyable, at least for me, mainly because you will see yourself playing through all the levels TWICE, one with claire and one with Barrie, sort of the two main characters in this game, although you will control more.

And the other gimmick of this game is that you will be controlling two characters, but the secondary character ends up only being a "find hidden amo or hp" gameplay which you should been able to do just with the main character; oh and also, you can play coop with a friend on splitscreen but because of this only one person will get to "play" because one will be shooting whilst the other will be just carring a flashlight or /literally) pointing the finger at things, which I guess is an addition nontheless but clearly one will get to have most of the fun.

The story is kinda there, it's not bad but also very zombie generic, also worth mentioning is, this game comes from a period of time where games tried to be tv shows and therefore follows the "episodic game" trend like Life is Strange, so keep in mind that if buying the game, because unless you buy all the chapters you will only get to play the first chapter.

Other thing that caught my eye is that the game doesn't really look that good for a 2015 AAA game, neither in level design nor in graphical phidelity, and it still runs like crap.

Although, in the end, if you like Resident Evil like me, yeah, you will get some enjoyement here and there, even if the game drags and constantly repeats levels; but if this will be one of your first time playing a Resident Evil just go play RE2 Remake or Revelations, and stay away from this mess of a game.

I played it like a month ago with my father. I enjoyed the suspense but there were a lot of moments in which i ran out of ideas and did have to check my pal youtube to be able to complete it. Anyway, DO play it at night. It definitely hypes the experience up. Nothing spectacular, but entertaining if you want to chill for a while and have a weekend to spend.

The few hours I played were very impressive, felt like a complete departure from Revelations.

Raid mode is aight but I fucking hate Moira so much. Obnoxious broad with half-assed development.

Claire and Barry are back, what more do you need? Honestly a huge improvement over the first game, though it still has some issues with character writing (Claire feels out of character to me, Barry's perfect though). Way more puzzles and a slower pace that makes it feel much more like the classic REs, while also having great gunplay that's infinitely better than REv1.

Played in co-op, once again. In this game, unlike RE5 and RE6, the partner character is very... unique. Moira doesn't use guns and Natalia is literally a child who can "sense" where enemies are. They both can also point at shinies to discover hidden items, which is a better take on the first game's Genesis (at least in co-op, where you don't have to switch characters). These asymmetric abilities made the campaign pretty interesting to co-op through, specially collectibles hunting as each character has their own collectibles basically.

I honestly don't have anything big to complain about with this one. Maybe the fact that it's a lot easier to get the bad ending than the good ending.

This is only fun if you're playing on multiplayer. If I weren't, I bet it would suck LOL

Bought for the Raid Mode, the only fun thing about it lol

Jogo? Mediano. Coop local é meio paia, a tela dica dividida muito pequenininha.
Ter Coop online seria ótimo.
