I actually like these games. That being said , when faced with the poor, soulless acting, the sub-par, jittery graphics and the horrendous pop-in and clipping issues, I have to admit this game is unsuited for release, especially on next gen.

There was a part where a camera man character had no camera in his hands…Just filming with nothing in his hands.

Just a small example of how big of a failure this installment is. I should have known when the cast from the previous games hadn’t returned that this was going to be a subpar experience

The idea behind this game is very cool but could have been executed better. The main thing being that controls and some animations are a bit wonky. The atmosphere was well done though and the choices you had to make created some pretty tense situations.

Probably my second favourite game in the anthology so far, after House of Ashes. I understand that these games aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for those of us who do enjoy them Supermassive do a good job of mixing up the formula and adding new gameplay elements each time, so I can honestly say I haven’t yet found these games to be boring or repetitive, I’m still invested and very excited for season two. I also found this one to be the scariest so far, so I have very few complaints save for a few technical issues I encountered.

This is the second best in the anthology. It's a serial killer story starring a documentary film crew stuck in a hotel full of traps being watched by a fan of real life killer H.H. Holmes. It's a more exciting idea than Man of Medan and Little Hope with a good enough cast of characters to keep it from getting boring. They could've done more with the traps idea. I wasn't fully satisfied on that end, but that might have been because of an early death of one of the characters in my playthrough. The new gimmick in this one pushes the franchise into a more Adventure game direction having me move around boxes to climb up to higher places along with giving each character their own unique ability. It don't think this added much to the game, and it just ended up dragging things out. The last gripe I have is there was a moment where I lost a character because they didn't do the obvious thing in the situation. They instead just sat there while they took an axe to the head. That was frustrating.

I love playing these kind of games with my girlfriend as we pass the controller for the characters we select for ourselves knowing nothing of the story. This one we found unsettling for some reason. It's not our favourite in the series, but it creeped us out a lot more than the others. Perhaps its harder to suspend disbelief when there's a mad killer with access to your every move. I can't really figure out what I didn't like about it. The horror elements were well done, but the suspense of not knowing what was around the corner never really dawned on me. My girlfriend may have a different opinion.

The scariest part happens when the first character is "played with". A sudden sense of dread happens. After that, there are suspenseful moments, but nothing compared to the initial.

Think it's got some of the best horror Supermassive have ever produced but the story leaves a bit to be desired. You know it's poor when I literally have to use google to figure out the constant holes in it's narrative, but once you piece it all together it's actually quite clever if not a bit convoluted. Nevertheless it's enjoyable but lacking that bit of extra quality to make it a serious contender.

Some plot holes but does a phenomenal job of building atmosphere and I feel like it’s easily the most batshit terrifying of the series so far. Certain aspects of this really crawled under my skin. I definitely have high hopes for the space themed one that’s happening next.

I love the Dark Pictures Anthology. This game is the end of Season 1. Like, what does that mean? There's no meaningful connection between any of these games, I don't think. And the second "season" seemingly starts almost immediately considering this game ends with a trailer for the next game.
The Devil in Me is theoretically the second best game in this series of four. Probably the worst in terms of actually functioning properly without game breaking glitches and bugs, but second in how good it is were it to work properly.

The last episode of season 1 is a classic tale about a serial killer horror house based on the myth of H H Holmes. The games are becoming more effective throughout the season. This last one perfects the formula further. The game relies this time less on QTE’s which is a good thing.

This is their latest game on the DP Anthology. The story of H. H. Holmes is interesting and made me like this. The traps were cool.

This is the first time they introduced movement capabilities which was okay, made the game kinda long-ish?

And an Inventory System that apparently "impacts" the game which it doesn't really. I was expecting for that to happen, but the inventory system just acted out as a mini-game.

I hope that the upcoming one- Directive 8020 - would have an improvent to the inventory system.

Honestly one of the worst of the series. Was this even playtested? The amount of times I'd fall through the floor, clip through walls or start a conversation with a character only for all the dialogue to suddenly become muted was astounding.

At this point they're just throwing these out as fast as they can and the gameplay quality is suffering because of it.

Better than Man of Medan, worst than anything else

If you liked the previous installments, you probably won't be disappointed in this one, either. It has a decent story and a tense atmosphere, but the graphics are a bit outdated and the controls are still as clunky as before. At least your choices really matter, and you'll have to work quite hard if you want to keep everyone alive. I hope they'll manage to shake things up a bit in the upcoming Season Two premiere.

The fact that they tempt you to kill a dog in this game takes it down a full point, fuck that.

This game has a lot of things that are potentially great and I'd like to see them expand on. Interactable and movable objects, unique abilities for each character and the variety in quick time events are great. However, in this game sometimes those features are the games biggest issue. This game has a small cast and some of the quick time events / decisions you have to make in the moment are unforgiving as hell. If you miss one single button press in the heartbeat quick time event, that means the character will just die. I know this has been a thing in other games, but with a small cast and playing this with others, losing your character to a miss button press or making a 50/50 guess on a decision really does suck. Especially because one character, on the first chance you get to play her, can die on the only decision she gets the option to make in her chapter. It might be the nature of the Saw hotel you're trapped in, but I just didn't think this game was very fair.

The story itself is great, I think this is the scariest of the Supermassive Games released so far. I hope that them pumping these games out so quickly doesn't continue to be to the detriment of the quality of the games themselves, but there were definitely a few glaring bugs and issues with this game that I think could've been hashed out if they just had more time to work on it.

A fun enough game but one plagued with the worst technical issues of this series so far. Besides that, definitely a step down from the tightness of House of Ashes. I appreciate their push to have more gameplay overall but I hope they actually give them more urgency in the future.

This one was actually kinda scary

Comparado ao primeiro Dark Pictures teve uma otima evoluçao o enredo e no terror

It's a fine, albeit very buggy, couch co-op experience to play with your friends. It does pretty much the same thing as all the other Dark Pictures games, but with more bugs and glitches. The setting is perhaps the most intriguing and squandered out of all the games. It has so much potential for fun and interesting choices but never really utilized as it should. On it's own, it's a pretty subpar game that I would probably never even finish if I were to play solo. But combine it with some friends and you'll might have some fun with it.

I appreciate them for trying something new, but god, the new exploration gameplay was so boring. In moderation, it's fine, if a bit lacking, but having exploration after exploration after exploration really ruined the tension and pacing. Especially since they got rid of the fixed camera. Which, yes, the fixed camera was annoying at times, but it felt like a staple of the series. The absence of it, plus the changed exploration really made it not feel like a Dark Pictures Game.

Another factor on that note was the seeming lack of choices. In a choice-based game. There were so many instances where I expected a QTE, only for there to be none. It was so drastic that when they finally did give me a QTE, I failed it because I almost entirely forgot they were a mechanic in the first place. There was also a lack of dialogue choices – multiple conversations happened in full without a single choice option. It made the story feel very railroaded, and I have to wonder how much my choices actually altered.

In terms of an ensemble, the characters were a lot better here than in the previous games. I usually only truly like one or two out of the cast and keep the rest alive out of obligation, but only a few scenes in and I liked the whole group. Charlie went kind of downhill for me (the blood trail scene,,,,,,,,) but I was very happy to see some lesbians!!! On the subject of Kate, I wish they showed more than they told with her. All the characters were constantly calling her vain, but outside of her flashlight being her hand mirror (which is a great writing choice lol), I didn't really see it. And the whole thing with her friend and her survivor's guilt was something I really wanted to see fleshed out more. I saw the slasher vibes in this game, and it would have been cool for them to lean into that and Kate being a final girl.

Easily the best part of the story was the serial killer plotline. Particularly, the interviews between Munday and Sherman; the reveal of Morello pretending to be Du'Met; and all the backstory tidbits for Munday. Honestly, I felt myself caring more about the clues than the murder house, Saw traps situation going on. Maybe I just didn't get them in my playthrough, but I would've loved to see some flashbacks or more of a direct, verbal confrontation with Du'Met. Just. More of him in general.

Also, I feel like more could've been done with the animatronics. Especially in the beginning, where nothing scary happened for like three hours. I think it'd be interesting if we saw more of helper animatronics, like the bartender. And have them 'glitching' out and providing some minor tension in the slow introductory parts at the start of the game. Plus, since Supermassive Games love their plot twists so much, they could've done another ghost/haunting fakeout lol.

This one was so hard to rate because while there's stuff I like or even really enjoy, and the finale is perfect (big slasher vibes and great action), the beginning is literally so unplayable. I can't see myself willingly replaying it, and can you really rate something high if the first segments suck so bad you couldn't even force yourself to do it again?

All in all, the usual missed opportunity I see from Supermassive Games; a genuinely compelling serial killer storyline/backstory that will probably live rent-free in my head for a while; and that slasher finale and epilogue,,,,, <3

they are getting more and more creative with the deaths but honestly it is difficult to enjoy with the expressions of the characters.
