This is a fun little twin stick shooter (dual-joystick shooter according to Grouvee's categories haha) arena survival game. I think it plays most like Crimsonland due to the perks and ability to aim, but it's definitely a part of the Vampire Survivor inspired wave of games that's been coming out recently. It has tighter gameplay than most of it's kin, but the build variety is a bit limited at the moment. I like the minimalist color choice aesthetically, but it can get really hard to parse the screen with certain builds. There is meta progression, but you don't need it to beat the initial difficulty levels.

Overall, worth the 3 bucks. I've had a good amount of fun to this point and look forward to more diversity being added as early access continues.

Edit: The graphical clarity complaints have been substantially improved. Bumped from 3 to 3.5 stars.

I survived 20 Minutes in all 3 maps. I must say, this game is really addictive! The initial idea of the game is really simple yet fun.

Gameplay
The gameplay is just a straight up Manic shooter with a build system where you select different characters with different passive abilities and select different weapons with different stats and not just that, you will also level up your runes and even build your own runes set. You will survive 20 Minutes depending on the build that you create and what skills you will take whenever you level up, and how you play the game. The gun play and the leveling system is really good and the more I play the more addictive it gets, I also like the boss battles, fighting them along with the hordes of lovecraftian monsters are really difficult but if you play your cards right, it will go well. An enjoyable and addictive gameplay.

Art and Story
The art style is aesthetically pleasing especially the character designs. What I really don't like is the colors but its the atmosphere of the game so I guess the art direction for the color is bland, yet the style and the pixel art is quite good nonetheless. Moreover, there is no actual story for the game, I guess there are bits of lore within the characters designs or even the weapon but a full blown story is nowhere to be found but its fine, since the art is really good, the art and the character designs make up for it and they can tell the lore with just their designs.

Overall
You just have to survive 20 minutes from lovecraft monsters. This game is really quite enjoyable and addictive, I had fun whenever I reach level 30 and the hordes of lovecraftian monsters are just swarming all over you and yet your character just kills them all. 20 Minutes Till Dawn is a enjoyable indie game.

my bf recommended this game to me after noticing I had it in my Epic Games library, got intrigued since I've never played any Vampire Survivors-like, gave it a try playing it every day for a lil over a week in january and I think this was really fun! I haven't seen all the ins and outs, I honestly might come back to it from time to time, but it's the perfect kind of game to keep my hands busy while I listen to a podcast/watch a video.
found the characters and build possibilities to be interesting, visually it's simple but effective, I just find the game to be a bit repetitive and grindy when it comes to unlocking things, but the core gameplay loop was fun enough to make me come back on the regular!

tldr: play if you got for free but dont buy
I got all char/weapons in about 30min... way too short and all runs end the same at least for me just maxing projectiles and shoot speed then 1 upgrade that like strike lightning for every 2 or so projectiles so its just constant lightning so insta wipe the screen when stuff spawns

An interesting reverse-bullet-hell (did we ever pick a name for this genre other than Vampire Survivors-likes?) with some neat guns and characters. Feels more "build" based than I think I like, it pretty clearly shoves you down one of like five available paths and then you can dabble in another one or two to round out a build. The weapons are neat and there's a good variety of them plus you actually USE them which gives it a more tense feeling and also plays it out strategically when things get hairy, rather than just focusing on dodging.

Despite that the palette feels very same-y between levels and the bosses are not much to write home about.

Final Grade: B-

Pretty decent Bullet Heaven game. The character designs are well made, Lilith and Hastur being my personal favorite characters.

This is one of the most addicting games I've ever played. I spent 3 hours straight playing it and I didn't even realize

Played from – to: (2024-01-02 – 2024-01-10) – PC keyboard.
‣ 6/10 – Where’s the dawn at?

‣ Thoughts: People who have played Vampire Survivors will know what this game’s about. It does feel similar in many aspects but has a unique take on the mindless slot machine shooting. It does, however, lack the colorful explosions Vampire Survivors brings. At times, I found myself lost and confused due to everything being grey and dark. The only saving grace were the red obvious projectiles.

By far the strongest parts of 20 minutes till dawn are the characters and how they change the runs. Every playable character has a unique ability that alters the way you should play. They also work best with certain upgrades and weapons while sucking with others. This creates a small choice restriction when it comes to weapons, but it also makes the meta runs fun and strong.

Overall, I found this game to be a nice way to spend some time while planning my next move in life. It is exactly something you’d want to play while trying to waste time and it’s great. Sadly, the choice to do everything grey and dark makes the visual experience quite dull. The gameplay offers loads of upgrades, but you’ll be surprised how quickly it becomes repetitive.

Picked this up because the art is cool. Its a fun enough one of these. Hasnt really kept my attention though.

20 Minutes Till Dawn is the type of game that I play in class for some reason, it's in the same top down genre like vampire survivor with roguelike elements, fairly interesting though the mobile version is full of ads and I have some problems with it.

Gameplay
You can choose between 2 modes, a 10 minute one or a 20 minute one, in this game you can unlock other characters and get better weapons by playing any mode you like, gaining points and upgrading is quite fun but on mobile it feels like shit, there's always an automatic roll that you can get better upgrades but you have to watch ads. To be honest in my free time I would play this one on a PC but yeah the rest of the gameplay is simple, killing NPCs gaining points and upgrading abilities and gear. If you die in the mobile version you can respawn by watching a 30 seconds ad and that's something I don't really like, the characters design look decent and you can even unlock some of them by watching ads (2 ads).

Conclusion
Interesting bullet hell with roguelike elements, would recommend to play it on PC instead of the mobile version tho.

not bad but it isn't the type of game to keep you in for more than 2 or 3 gameplays

fun but wont stick in ur brain very long after

extremamente divertido
mas com pouco conteúdo

A solid time-waster. Fairly shallow, but the difficulty curve will take you a solid 15-20 hours to actually get through it all.

It's not quite as compulsively replayable as Vampire Survivors, but A) what is, and B) it's got a monochromatic, desperate vibe that appeals to me more than VS's Castlevania pastiche. With a bit more of a budget, this could really be something.

could maybe use a few more upgrade paths but damn if the game isn't Fun and Addictive, plus it's super enjoyable to 100% (Darkness 15 cleared with all the characters & weapons + the few misc. achievements)

really like the character art too even if it's only visible on the character select screen

never played Vampire Survivors or any other VS-likes so no clue how it compares to any of those

One of the better top-down survival shooters out there that is worth trying for its clean visuals and solid gameplay.
+ genre-suited, color-coded art style with almost perfect clarity
+ distinct upgrade paths and satisfying synergies
+ good number of visually appealing characters who play differently enough
+ quite imbalanced but nonetheless fun weapons
+ decent game settings including difficulty and aiming style
- a few bugs when using controller
- messy display of chosen upgrades
- underwhelming bosses that are barely worth paying attention to
- lack of variety in environments
- some obviously overpowered choices in a fairly small pool of upgrades
