Surprisingly decent match-3 game with a charming personality.
Match-3 games are not that hard to make to be honest, but the style and visual representation of them matters a lot, and this game nails both. 7 Wonders is part of a franchise that has 5 entries, including this one, so I might check out the others too.

Picked this game up for $5 at a con because I recognized it as the first recommendation for DS games on the /v's recommended games list.
I think 7 Wonders is pretty good at what it sets out to be! Sure, it's a puzzle game, and those aren't the most popular with gamers, but at least this one takes advantage of the fun of being on the DS and is genuinely a pretty fun little tile matching game. The story of the game is to make matches in order to build the 7 different wonders of the world, which you get to see be built on the top screen as you make matches on the bottom. There's even a cute little tile mover connecting the two screens! The gameplay feels like a proper challenge as the shape of the puzzle board changes to be more difficult for matches the further along you are in building the wonder. It's not a big, long epic of a game - but I never went in expecting it to be.
I don't know, overall 7 Wonders of the Ancient World is pretty fun and does well what it intends. For a little $5 puzzle game, I'm pretty satisfied with it. 3/5
