everything about this game is kinda stupid, but ultimately charming. 2000s anime-reverence, the humor of epic potato nyancat millennials, poorly optimized on flash, annoying premium subscription, nickle and diming from artix himself. however, its that oldschool runescape brainworm type shit and a one of a kind experience. that i wouldn't go through today because a ttwo button tab target flash MMO is boring in the modern and day and was boring 15 years ago without a subscription lmao

A browser MMO you play as a child. While charming at the time, I stopped playing it because of egregious grinds and that the filler between story chapters was ridiculous.

grindy? sure. mindless? yeah. money hungry? absolutely. however, it is engrossing, charming, and (of course) deeply nostalgic. it’s surprisingly active to this day too which i gotta respect.

Outro jogo da minha época em Lan house 🥲

Vendi minha alma e não consigo reembolso.

This is one of my Inside Out Core Islands.

Used to play this game a lot in my highschool years.
Getting necromancer can make a lot of content soloable.
From a technical and gameplay standpoint, it hasn't aged well, but it was a browser game that I had a lot of fun with, especially when playing with friends.
The most unfortunate part of this game is that you'll need to dish out a fair amount of money and get a membership upgrade to enjoy all its aspects.

I used to play this game religiously in highschool

at its height it felt like a cartoon network show playing out before your very eyes. sad to see what it has become.

a great childhood game, shame they didn't know when to pull the plug, but i'm glad i played this.

Da era dos MMOs de navegador, para mim, só perde para Sherwood Dungeon.

Grind, o jogo.

Mas por sorte, eu amo grindar meses da minha vida por 1 cosmético :)

Big part of my childhood, never had a lot of friends to play it with nor could poor child Tyler afford a membership which really hampers a lot of what you can do in an MMO. Never could get past like the 3rd or 4th main story boss because of what stated above but even if it is literally babies first MMO someday i would like to assemble a group of friends and try to beat the game.

Started playing this game when I was 9, I still come back from time to time to check it out, but honestly nothing major has changed. Not too happy about the grind that I had to make to get certain items but I still did anyways. Those were the days when AQW was somewhat popular but I guess the games dead...

Story time!
When I was a kid my brother and I would always laugh at this game cuz it was "lame", or whatever. We had cringe cousins who played it, after all, and it is only natural for a young brother and sister to bond over laughing at cringe people who play cringe games. But one day, little eleven-year-old RPG-loving me saw the game had been updated and I got curious. So I created an account and started playing it but my brother walked past and saw Artix out of the corner of his eye before I switched tabs, and he asked if I was looking at hentai cuz he saw an anime guy on my screen before I hastily clicked off it. Obviously I said no... he walked past again and I tried to hide my gaming habits once more... but it was too late. I had been outed as an AdventureQuest Worlds player. I still vividly remember how hard he laughed, how desperately I tried to justify myself by insisting the updates had made it cool, and to this day I'm not sure whether it woulda been more or less embarrassing to just put hentai on my screen instead.

The faux-game I forged from my childhood memories is way better than this

As someone who has played this game for 10+ years throughout their childhood into adulthood, I cannot recommend newcomers play this game. Developers refuse to double down & improve their bread & butter games in a timley manner, and instead put their time & money into countless side projects that don't go anywhere. The core gameplay experience is centered around farming for aestherics or spending real life money on aesthetics. Most players resort to botting software to automate the monotnous gameplay loops that offer no real challenge outside of testing your sanity.

Many of us who still play do so for nostalgic reasons, and have been aronnd since the first year or two when things were still fresh. Best part of the game is the community of passionate fans & talented artists; if you want to at least appreciate the artwork of the cosmetics you can just follow the twitter pages & AQW Reddit. I always find myself coming back to check in just becasue it's the MMO I grew up with, but it's undeniably in a sorry state.

Marcou minha vida, confesso que até me divirto revisitando o jogo, mas a administração da AE me da nojo
