While Arkham origins is able to stand toe to toe with Arkham city i disgree on Cold cold heart being able to stand toe to toe with Harley quinn's revenge.

With CCH having a weirdly paced plot and another issue of "side content being randomly tossed on you and spaced out poorly" it slips and stumbles with what should be a slam dunk of a dlc with it being an adaptation of Heart of ice from batman the animated series.

A short, but fulfilling side story that ties up some minor loose ends from the main story and provides a fun introduction to Mr. Freeze. While it won't blow you away, Cold, Cold Heart does a lot to improve over previous Arkham DLCs which have consistently felt pitifully short and underdeveloped. You get a new suit, some revamped gadgets, and a few sparse side quests in a condensed open world.

Ultimately though, it's still a 2-3-hour story that really doesn't add much to Origins or the Arkham series as a whole - an issue I've had with every Arkham DLC so far. It's fun, but not worth going out your way to play unless you're desperate for more Batman: Arkham.

Had to switch over to PC to play this as you cant get it on Xbox

I enjoyed this DLC a lot, I'd go as far to say its one of two arkham DLC's that were actually worth the money. It adds a new suit, new side quests (But they are origins side quests so they aren't very good), A new gadget and is a decent length for a DLC.

Mr Freeze is amazing in this. One of my favourite Batman villains, also one of my favourite origin stories so that bumps this up a few points. Basically a one for one with his animated series origin which totally revamped the character. Also this is my favourite design of his in the Arkham series, I love the bulkiness of the suit. The actual boss fight i found really tough but enjoyable. Takes what was amazing about the City boss fight and makes it a bit tougher.

Very good DLC, worth the money.

It's fine, not much content here but the story is good, I just felt like it ended very abruptly.

Short and sweet DLC that doesn't overstay it's welcome and introduces a few cool new mechanics.

I usually don't talk much about DLC but this one was very very neat when it comes to Arkham games.

We get a simple premise: an origin story, this time for Mr Freeze, which gives way to new mechanics related to ice and heat. You'll have to learn to deal with enemies that share his freezing ray as you explore a city that has been ravaged by it, creating a very awesome atmosphere. You get all upgrades but unfortunately Batman's new suit doesn't spice up gameplay that much, still it looks good and allows you to break icy formations which are useful in stealth for example, like dropping icicles on enemies.

There's not much to do in the open world and you'll likely be done with the story in a couple of hours, but what's here is very fun and focused. Unfortunately you can kinda feel how empty the world is and how crunched and rushed this was, even the pre-rendered cutscenes don't look as good.

Mr. Fries more like Mr. Fees

Ain't Mr. Freeze just the coolest? Lame ice pun aside, this DLC was pretty good. Slightly better than the base game for its more focused narrative, and Mr. Freeze alone helps contribute to that half star. All in all, a solid end to my 30 hours spent in Arkham Origins.

Here is my review for the main game

And here's my review for the initiation DLC

Welp, this is the final major dlc for Arkham origins and WB Montreal definitely saved the best for last. Continuing the pattern of the Arkham series being heavily influenced by Batman the animated series (including having most of the voices from TAS return to reprise their roles and Paul Dini Co-writing the 1st few arkham games) while being far more mature take on the batman characters and universe, this is a literal adaptation of the heart of ice episode which was Batman's first encounter of Mr freeze.

Only stretched out to an mini campaign dlc expansion only taking place in only the "new gotham" area closing off the "old gotham" and the bridge and burnley were cut off thanks to mr freeze closing everything off to make the map small and tightly constrained to just the one upper area of the main games map. Only thing to do in these is to help out the GCPD who were frozen and stop anarky's henchmen rioting in the streets.

But really you mainly traverse through the main gothcorp building to rescue ferris boyle after getting your new years party crashed by mr freeze, even getting to kick ass as bruce wayne in the beginning before donning the batsuit. Not initiation bruce but more like bruce from arkham city's intro. but you can obviously tell how the stories gonna go, but it does provide some backstory as to the relationship between batman and freeze goes and how they end up the way they are in the later games.

But the building itself is frozen from top to bottom and you gotta go through such negative degrees to the point of even trickling down your health if you stay for too long. Which is where the XE Heat Batsuit come into play. You have this big hulking armored suit which can go through very low temperature eras no problem and has the ability of "heat gloves" which are reskinned shock gloves but for a reskin, its definitely a lot more fun than i initially expected because, not only you can save frozen cops by thawing them out of ice, but also get through some frozen areas by punching through them. This coupled with the "thermal batarang" upgrade makes for a nice lil change up in origins solid gameplay.

You've also have another variant in the armored thugs category, "freeze ray" types where they have a freeze ray like mr freeze and you have to dodge that and have to target them first during combat, otherwise you'd be frozen and have to thaw yourself out via tapping A (or X for PS controllers), They're a nice challenge once you've gotten used to em. Took me a min to know how to properly deal with those and not get annoyed.

Then there's the big bad, Mr Freeze. Whom I must say, has a fight on par with city's with having to figure out different ways to stun and throw a few blows on him. Like using said thermal batarang to knock down icicles on his head, corner take downs, having to do a line takedown, etc. Its definitely a fight that i've had the most challenge with overall with the game, notice how i didnt say bullshit artificial difficulty like my initiation review. because this was actually designed well and not haphazardly throw you in without any care in the world. On top of that, you'd got all your gadgets unlocked from the jump so you can go through this dlc with little to no problems.

Its definitely the best this games got to offer, its more optimized than the base game, more focused in terms of design and its short but its sweet. Sure, the plots predictable even if you didn't watch the TAS series but its definitely worth playing after to see an additional adventure after beating the main game.

Story wasn't much to write home about, and that was the real thing about the main game that allowed it to stand among the other Arkham games (despite it being the worst one in my opinion). The final boss was cool, but the rest of the campaign was middling, and mostly rehashed, albeit short (in a good way).

Have you ever wanted to play the first Mr. Freeze episode from BTAS? Well, here you go.

Solid dlc. Unlike the other ones in this season pass! Granted I only paid five dollars.

You get a cool little campaign, took me a little less than 3 hours. Cool story, cool villain. I liked this. Wish the other dlc worked this way. Something unique.

Now onto Arkham Knight!

It’s an alright DLC, it’s a decent extension to Origins' playtime and lore, but idk if I can recommend it outside of a sale.

Batman: Arkham Series Reviews

Cold, Cold Heart is an okay DLC campaign for Batman: Arkham Origins that retells the origin story of Mr. Freeze, one of Batman’s more sympathetic enemies. It’s a step up from Arkham City’s Harley Quinn’s Revenge expansion, but it’s not that much of a step up. It’s still a fairly short campaign that doesn’t really introduce much of anything new or exciting. You do at least explore a couple of new locations, but most of the campaign takes place within just one primary area that you constantly have to backtrack through, as well as back and forth from.

One of the new locations the DLC introduces is actually the inside of Wayne Manor. This is the only time you ever get to experience the Arkhamverse’s Wayne Manor during gameplay, and sadly, you only explore it during the opening sequence. The other location where the majority of the campaign takes place is the GothCorp building. There’s some new combat and predator sections, a new enemy type that’s essentially just a brute with a freeze ray, and a final showdown with Mr. Freeze that’s more or less a repeat of his boss fight in Arkham City but in a bigger arena where you also have to deal with other enemies at the same time. It’s pretty standard stuff, and not much to really write home about.

The game does make a big deal out of Batman’s new thermal suit, but it doesn’t really do anything that Batman couldn’t already do before. You can charge up Batarangs with heat to melt icicles from the ceiling and ice-covered vantage points, you can melt ice that blocks pathways (which uses the same animation as charging something with the Electrocutioner’s gloves in the base game), and it allows Batman to survive in sub zero temperatures. That’s literally it. It doesn’t come with any significant new gameplay addition whatsoever.

The story for this expansion is just a retelling of the Batman: The Animated Series episode Heart of Ice. This is one of the most famous episodes of the show, as it revitalized the character and origin story of Mr. Freeze, and eventually became the standard portrayal of him in both the comic books, and other assorted Batman media. It’s a fine retelling, I don’t think it's better than the actual episode (though if I’m speaking truthfully, I haven’t seen the episode in quite some time). It does end pretty suddenly and unsatisfyingly though.

Unlike Harley Quinn’s Revenge, whose quality I could forgive since its bundled with re-releases of Batman: Arkham City, I can’t really do the same for Cold, Cold Heart, since it never got the same treatment. Still, I think that for all things concerned, it is better in comparison to Harley Quinn’s Revenge since at the very least, it's (mostly) new content. If you don’t already own the season pass for Arkham Origins, this is not at all a must buy or a must experience. It’s pretty much just a worse retelling of one of the most famous episodes of Batman: The Animated Series with some new combat and predator encounters and a slightly different version of the Mr. Freeze fight from Arkham City. There’s not much else to it.

A nice interepretation for Mr freezes Backstory

Totally forgettable. Like most of the DLC in this franchise.
