it's aged, and not for the better. it really feels like a game that was in development hell for a decade.

I hate the multiversal aspects of this game. It genuinely gives me a headache everytime I try to asses the many questions and plot holes created by the game's wonky ass story. The ending especially where you're left more confused than satisfied. Great gameplay but the story is such a mess.

It really is a great experience that covers FPS terms, a sensational story that involves multiverses, and can be quite complex if we look at the details, and that everything in this game can be intertwined, I recommend playing it paying close attention to improve the experience of this great game

Rapture was scary and daunting. Columbia is just cringe

This game is so full of spectacle that it draws you into its world and narrative with ease. Once you look past that, it’s hard not to notice how messy and stupid the story can get and that ending still leaves me conflicted on how I view the overall game. It’s still a really fun shooter to play and Elizabeth is such a wonderful character that it’s hard not to enjoy your time playing Infinite with her at your side.

God I wish this series comes back

I hated this game with a passion as a kid. Coming back to it a couple of years ago, it is mid af. Definitely not a shock game in the slightest.

bioshock infinite rule 34 parodies

Not ad good as the first one buy still a great game 8/10

Infinite could have been excellent if it didn’t topple over itself with ambition, and had taken less influence from early 2010s shooters. That said this is still a fine game. The introduction sequence into Columbia is phenomenal and as beautiful as Rapture’s, loaded with detail and imagery. Booker and Elizabeth’s story starts enjoyable but jumps off the rails by mid-game into a convoluted cesspool of sci-fi screwery. The ending is unforgettable, both fascinating yet pretentious to experience.

Mature complex themes have always been part of Bioshock’s DNA, which are handled well but can be a little assertive; Infinite is no exception. The meticulous detail of Elizabeth and how she interacts with Booker and the environment is exceptional. Unfortunately, gameplay has changed to be linear, action-forward with less strategic elements and dismissal of the weapon wheel; losing a lot of what makes Bioshock 1 & 2 great. Grinding around the tracks with the hook is a lot of fun however.

Liked this one the most from the series so far.

I honestly don't even know where to start, how to divide it, or how to structure a review of this "game". So I’ll throw everything I think here in no particular order.
I haven't played the game for a long time, I've only experienced the story, on maximum difficulty, and although I don't enjoy shooters very much, I still want a challenge.

Calling it a "game" I think is belittling it to the nth degree. It's a shooter, made in the Unreal Engine, and the graphics are something out of the ordinary. Especially for the year, the quality of textures, meshes, and more is quite impressive.
The setting is breathtaking, so much so the first time I saw Columbia I had goosebumps!
The game is DIVERSE, I think the various Vigors make the game allow for a pseudo-build. I especially fell in love with the Horse Vigor, which gave a the power to shoot enemies in the air for a time, giving me a window to choose my approach. I also mainly used lightning and possession.

The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that the game does not encourage a slow pace. More often than not you can just run between zones without being punished in any way, not uncommon from other shooters in my experience. In addition, certain mechanics, such as the skylines, I would have liked to see implemented more often than the few story moments I got to use them.

Elizabeth is presented to you in a fantastic way. I think it's one of the introductions of a character that captivated me the most, driving me to continue. Her story is masterfully crafted leading to a wonderful experience. I won't spoil it but do know it's just all perfectly staged.

The characters have strongly defined personalities, leaving space for their evolution and discovery of themselves, especially within the in-game events. Had I read this story as a book it would have placed itself among some of my favorites.
The protagonist doesn't seem to have much "character", but the more you continue the more he develops and becomes a more complex and gray character.
The game, from start to end, is extremely captivating and worth every minute of gameplay.

For the genre, plot, mechanics, and characters I find myself strongly recommending it. The game is a masterpiece and a gaming pillar!

9/10

"Bioshock Infinite" delivers an exhilarating gameplay experience intertwined with a captivating plot that challenges the boundaries of storytelling in video games.

Gameplay-wise, "Bioshock Infinite" introduces several innovations while retaining the core elements that made the series iconic. The skyline system allows for fast-paced and dynamic movement around the floating city of Columbia, adding a new layer of verticality to combat encounters. Players can traverse the expansive environments with ease, engaging enemies from above or using the skyline to evade attacks.

Combat in "Bioshock Infinite" is fluid and responsive, with a diverse selection of weapons and Vigors (the game's equivalent of plasmids) at the player's disposal. The combination of gunplay and Vigor abilities encourages experimentation, as players discover unique strategies to overcome the various challenges they encounter.

The plot of "Bioshock Infinite" is a tour de force of narrative ambition, blending elements of science fiction, alternate history, and social commentary into a thought-provoking tale. Set in the early 20th century, the game follows protagonist Booker DeWitt as he ventures to the flying city of Columbia to rescue a mysterious woman named Elizabeth. As the story unfolds, players are drawn into a complex web of political intrigue, moral dilemmas, and mind-bending revelations.

The relationship between Booker and Elizabeth forms the emotional core of the game, with their interactions driving both the plot and gameplay forward. Elizabeth's AI companion mechanics are revolutionary, as she actively assists players during combat by providing ammunition, health, and opening tears in the fabric of reality to summon helpful objects or environmental hazards.

As players delve deeper into Columbia's secrets, they are confronted with thought-provoking themes such as nationalism, religious extremism, and the nature of choice and consequence. The game's narrative twists and turns keep players on the edge of their seats, culminating in a mind-bending finale that leaves a lasting impact.

It is an absolutely gorgeous game with pretty nice feeling guns. But it absolutely loses itself in its own story. Early impressions will leave you thinking you found "That game", the one with a story to remember, but the closer you get to the end, that feeling fades. Then the ending bashes that feeling in entirely.
If the gameplay held up, that'd be fine, but honestly the powers kinda suck and level design gets pretty boring at a certain point. It starts as a strong game and ends real badly, so a mid score seems the most appropriate.
