Buen juego

A very, very silly idea for a video game. I kind of love it. It's a pretty mediocre God of War clone, but hey, Satan has dick physics. I guess it's not all bad.

A shameless God of War clone, but not a bad one! Perhaps the loosest adaptation of anything ever, Dante's Inferno follows the titular Dante, here refigured not as an Italian poet but as a bloodthirsty crusader who kills Death, nicks his scythe, comes home to find the love of his life spirited away to Hell by the Devil and resolves to murder his way through Lucifer's house until he gets her back. It's a frankly insane premise, but remarkably it works! Each level of Hell is rendered in exquisitely grotesque detail, and the attack animations are fluid and brutal. Combat is simple but effective, with the same light-heavy attack format as God of War, but Dante can stuff experience points into two different paths, either to power up the evil power of his scythe or the holy power of his cross (which shoots lasers, you know, like real crucifixes don't). A truly unhinged game, but in the best way.

"To be continued..."

I love this game so much, I wish it was better. That's how I feel about this game, summed up. I love it to absolute death, but that's why it pains me so much that it is so flawed and held down by (I'm assuming) rushed deadlines and (again, assuming) straining budget. It could have been such an absolute masterpiece, it really could have.

I did not expect the flood of nostalgia that hit me when I booted this game up, and the music screamed at me, and the main menu started. Just great.

There's some shockingly good level design and composition sometimes, and sometimes also just not. Just fucking not. But the look of it all is fantastic. Even without the behind-the-scenes videos, you can tell these people had a lot of fun making this game.

And the pre-rendered cutscenes are stunning and great.

I always loved how this game started like Ghosts 'n Goblins.

I don't know who's better at sucking Dante's dick; these guys, or Dante himself.

Hack-and-slash protagonists: Devil May Cry: a half-demon devil slayer; Bayonetta: a 500-year-old witch; God of War: the God of War; Dante's Inferno: just a guy, but he's basically as effective.

However, the game is not as fun as any of the others (or at least DMC and Bayonetta). After the two first circles, you can sort of feel the development team going "Oh...shit. Is this gonna work for a whole game? I don't know if we have the time or money..." Almost half of the circles don't even have end bosses, not in the traditional sense anyway, because, even with their obvious liberties, sometimes they actually do at least try to follow the original story as closely as possible.

It's a pretty ambitious and unconventional approach to a game, especially in the hack-and-slash genre. But, looking at the behind-the-scenes stuff, there is SO MUCH stuff that they didn't end up using in the final game, and it all looks great, even fantastic. It all just sort of breaks my heart that they couldn't go all in, because this game means a lot to me.

Either way, this game doesn't give a fuck. The second thing you do is kill Death, and the final boss is Satan, and he's got his dick and balls swinging about and everything.

I love the ending to this game, with all my heart, and would completely accept it as an actual ending, were it not for the fact that they literally say "To be continued" on the God damn screen! Other than that, perfect ending.

With all of its flaws, this is still probably the coolest concept and execution of an idea for an adaptation. The concept alone is enough to carry the entire game on its back. I mean, it's a fucking hack-and-slash game based on The Divine Comedy! Come on!

Make Dante's Purgatory, with the original team.

This is with absolute certainty an unabashed shameless god of war copy. Set in mythology (Divine Comedy- Dante alighieri), full of hack and slash gore and an angry protagonist who made grave mistakes.
The thing is, a good copy is still a good game. Plus here the stuff you like in god of war is at times dialed up even further.
The enemies are even more aggressive and ugly. Your abilities are just as crazy as kratos. The nudity is just as blatant.
I burnt through this game with ease, easily immersed just like god of war that I played a decade before it.
Sure it doesnt reach the peaks that the adventure of kratos does. But it is a decent clone and it scratches that itch for me.
If you thirst for the com bat and story of the original god of war series like me, then this is an easy recommend !

A CLONE FROM GOD OF WAR (but a good one)!!!!

This is straight up the same as the original God of War games, the action is great, and the structure is very similar, but that's not a bad thing. Dante's Inferno is a very good God of War game, without the God of War name.

The soundtrack is great, the gameplay is snappy and fun, and you never get tired of throwing crosses or slashing demons with your scythe. Parrying is super satisfying as well.

There are some bullshit segments, like the elevator where you need to pull a lever while fighting some annoying enemies and being quick enough to not be burned to death, but that's not exclusive to this game, God of War also had these moments, so that's not the end of the world.

The enemy designs are super edgy and over the top, I love it. Every time a new enemy would appear I would cringe in my chair with disgust trying to figure out what I was looking at, can't recommend it enough.

Play it if you haven't. It's sad this game doesn't get as much attention as it should, I wish we could get a sequel as was hinted by the end of the game :(

From what I played it was a pretty solid hack'n slash game.

Visceral Games' take (Dead Space) take on God of War. Art and music direction are peak. Game starts off very strong though you can feel the budget and deadline constricting the closer you get to the end (guess who the publisher is). There's some very interesting physics in the final boss fight. Fun few hours if you're looking for a decent hack and slash, though don't expect 5 page move lists.

It was said an American developer couldn't do a hack-and-slash game like Devil May Cry. Santa Monica Studio said "challenge accepted," and surpassed Devil May Cry in the genre with the God of War series. Dante's Inferno is a shameless clone of THE clone, not only in gameplay, but in graphics and style.

There are minute moments of fun in the first half, and the badassery of Graham Mactavish's vocal performance mirrors that of TC Carson's as Kratos. It accomplishes feeling like one giant journey, but pales in comparison to the scope of its inspiration.

Everything is middling in quality: story, character, and combat. Perhaps if they had the chance to make the sequel they were planning that would explore further into The Divine Comedy, we would see some greatness from Dante.

7 hours of fun in 9 circles of hell, but still expected a longer game. The very atmospheric level design makes you believe that you are in that very hell from Dante’s divine comedy.

Cópia descarada de god of war

Poor man's God of War. Playing this game felt like nothing more than a silly parody of God of War, replicating its controls and mechanics down to an almost copyright infringing level of absurdity.

que jogo maravilhoso em, dante so faz merda meo

I have a fondness for both hack and slash games and classic literature. It’s rare to get to combine them this way!

While the game may be on the short and easy side, it’s atmospheric and compelling just as a visual journey.

It was an ambitious effort to create a game that could somewhat compete with God of War. The story was cool and the combat was great!
