Complete garbage, not worth the space it takes up on the SSD.

nah i'll stick to the destruction derbies

I barely remember the discussion revolved around this game. Was it going to be a paid game then went to F2P and some shit? Don't exactly remember but either way it died fast. Sony's pretty much the first MP attempt on PS5 died down and that probably was not planned. They never got to revive the game but I got to plat it before its death. My rarest plat is this random game. Hell yeah I guess.

It was actually fun with the boosting lobbies. But can't judge people that they didn't give a chance. It didn't feel like a big deal when it first revealed.

A lot of potential here to have been a super fun multiplayer game, but it was clear it was in trouble when it was delayed from the PS5s launch as a full priced game to a PS + game a few months later; launching as what felt like an unfinished skeleton.

coulda been fun but there wasn't enough to do

3/10

I was excited to play this as it was offered as part of PS Plus and was one of the early PS5 games released for the system. Unfortunately, the game didn't provide much in terms of fun factor and engagement. It's basically an online competitive Destruction Derby of sorts where you can even exit the vehicle.

Graphics , performance, and presentation were good but after playing a couple different levels and modes, the game just wasn't able to hold my attention or interest.

Fun enough for a few mins at a time, but man this is the definition of half-baked.

**1/4

Its decently fun but lacks a lot of content

You will have fun for 30 minutes and than never play it again.

Sad to see even putting it out for free on PS Plus and lowering the price couldnt make this live long. It took me over five minutes to find my first match, safe to say the game is dead. Maybe if it was free to play or came bundled with the ps5 like Astro it would of done a lot better. The game has a lot of charm and personality to it, especially with all the characters. It looks very good too, just unfortunately theres hardly any content and despite the fun gameplay concept it gets stale pretty quickly. Unfortunate, could of been good.

46/100

Finally a PS5 game that uses the controller features! And it's a fun game to play for a bit. Not a fan of microtransaccions but the game can be dumb fun and it's pretty diverse. Just killing my ps plus backlog, but this one wasn't terrible.

Diverse cast of characters and great style wasted in an underwhelming destruction derby game.

I’ll start out positive and say that Destruction AllStars has one of the most diverse starting rosters I’ve seen in a multiplayer game in ages, and they should be praised for it. On top of that, the game has a fun art style that I think fits pretty well.

That said, all that is wasted on a game that is unfortunately not very good. It’s completely wild that they opted to charge $70 for this. Glad I got it free on PS+. It has 3 multiplayer modes (that are more or less the same - wreck cars) across 3 maps and a handful of single player “challenges” that take place on one of said multiplayer maps. That’s it. The game is also riddled with microtransactions which can be OK for some games, but to charge $70 for a game that is devoid of content and then charge money on top of that for cosmetics is gross.

And even if all of the above wasn’t true and it had great content, the gameplay itself is just fine. It’s nothing special, really. It’s just not very fun.

+ Great diverse cast of characters
+ Fun visual style

- Completely devoid of content
- Riddled with microtransactions
- Weirdly no music outside of unique character themes that only play on the character select screen
- Gameplay itself isn’t even very fun

Nothing much to really say here other than a tech demo that seems to have gone bizarrely wrong.

I think this game had the potential to be good in some ways, but it doesn't help that they wanted you to pay not only for skins, but for mission packs to obtain cosmetics. Yeah, that's how greedy they were with this one.

The gameplay is nothing special, like everyone has said in the comments, you'll have a slight honeymoon phase enjoying the adaptive triggers and realistic destruction, but after then, heh, you'll realize how hollow it is. You're barely rewarded for levels or winning matches, the character designs are ugly and more annoying than fun, you'll be placed in teams who can't even manage a single kill, yeah, this was terrible all around. Sony should be ashamed of acting like this gave "value" to PS Plus, especially when they gave away much better games the next month like FF7R.

Fun for maybe the first 2 hours, gets super repetitive and kinda annoying

Its a shame this game was DOA... couldve been really fun if it had more support from devs / community

This game would potentially be fun if it wasn’t dead as fuck. I played it for the first time 2 years ago and quit because I could not find any online lobbies, and playing with bots just wasn’t that engaging. A disappointing waste of resources, and potential.

Tried it for a few hours, wasn't my favorite, but could see how people would enjoy it. Maybe someday I will pick it up again

An uninspired and limp attempt by Sony to create their own GaaS hit early in the PS5's lifecycle. There's very little here to hold one's attention. Just play the infinitely better Overwatch or Burnout series instead.

Fun for a short while, but does get a bit dull. i adore the wolfsona and really like the character designs in general. fun to pick up and play for a short bit while waiting for another game to download or update

It’s just bad, a total failure from the get go. Awful online match making and gameplay that wasn’t fun.

Fun when it worked but matchmaking was really bad.

As a PlayStation loyalist, I found myself obligated to play Destruction AllStars thoroughly, especially with it being a new IP under the newly-establish PlayStation Studios brand. This is a vehicular combat game that takes obvious inspirations from the likes of Destruction Derby and Twisted Metal, which were previous classics under the PlayStation branding. Destruction AllStars takes risks that, ultimately, don't work out too well.

The main chunk of Destruction AllStars is its online multiplayer. A player chooses from a wide selection of characters, each with their own abilities, and hops into an arena with two objectives: find a vehicle to wreck other vehicles, and survive being hit when you don't have a vehicle yourself. Among this gameplay loop is a handful of different games to play, from a standard high-points match to last-vehicle-standing challenges. It's a fine mix, but the variety isn't too differentiated. If I had to give one pro to this gameplay, it's the implementation of the DualSense controller, which uses its adaptive triggers to warn you when your vehicle is low on health. Consequently, however, the rest of the controls make sacrifices, such as using the traditional camera control stick to make "slam" moves while in the vehicle.

Other modes in this game include the Challenge Series, which acts as the game's single-player content. These challenges come in sets for each character on the roster, one set of which is free for new players. It was nice to experience some different takes away from the online gameplay, and it gave some nice cosmetic perks to go along with it. The downside to this is that, with most online games of this nature, additional challenge series require actual in-game purchases, thus locking you out of unlockables and... simply more gameplay. Thankfully, I wasn't too obsessed with the gameplay loop to care about purchasing more challenges.

Destruction AllStars is a mediocre multiplayer-heavy game among the other grand releases coming out from PlayStation Studios recently. It reminds me of those shortly-supported PS4 games that Sony put out back in the day (Kill Strain, Drawn To Death). The best move the team made here is to change its original $70 MSRP to a free-to-own for PS+ subscribers, and that's still a large microtransaction-filled pill to swallow. I'd give it a year until Sony cuts support altogether, because I just don't see this title gaining any momentum.

A graphical showcase for PS5, with excellent support for all system features. But the 5 hours I spent with it at launch were enough. A destruction derby with giant open maps makes for a tedious frustrating game of cat and mouse.

More micro-transactions than actual content. This game is literal garbage.

Fun for a match or two but really gets repetitive

Great concept but terrible execution
