Mi primer visual novel, le tengo algo de cariño

I don't really know when I finished this game. But it was around 2007. Played all routes. One of the best visual novels ever made.

To be honest, my opinion of this novel fell with time and a reread. Fate is a whatever first route, UBW is mostly meh except for 3 peak scenes, HF is cool but both the main endings aren't good to me, the pacing is questionable, the magic system does whatever it wants and pretends to be a hard magic system, and Rin is for some reason an extremely mediocre character except for HF, which is not her route. But I can't hate it, not when I like Shirou as a protagonist quite a bit, when the soundtrack is good, when some of the ideas and themes presented are this good, and when some of the characters like Shirou, Saber and Kirei are this interesting.

I love this visual novel way too much

Totalmente excelente.

mahoyo: yeah it's good, i like it

tsukihime: yeah it's good, i like it

fate/stay night: actively one of the best things i've ever experienced in my entire life. so unbelievably tight, densely layered and multifaceted that every single time i think about it i make a new connection. not only as good as everybody says it is, but even better by an extremely significant magnitude. so perfect that its only real flaw is basically fixed by a matter of framing certain scenes differently in the animated adaptations. three years on i cannot stop thinking about this story and probably will not ever stop thinking about it. what the fuck. what the fuck. what the fuck.

fate/zero: yeah it's... fine. i guess

fate/extra: yeah it's good, i like it

The first route drags so much with all its exposition but the second and mainly the third are pretty phenomenal. Not even Ufotable could do it justice. Some of the best story and characters in gaming but obviously the gameplay is simply reading and clicking

An incredible ride. Somehow has completely changed how I see the world, which is weird because on paper it's just an urban fantasy action visual novel.

The GOATed reputation is entirely deserved, you will not regret sticking through to the end, even though the slice of life scenes tend to drag a bit at times.
I really like how this game starts out like a simple shounen and gets progressively more disturbing as you go through the routes.

father kotomine you rocked my world

Peak fiction. absolute KINO(ko nasu).
Emiya Shirou is literally me.

This review contains spoilers

Fate Route is how much a man will stick to ideals and beliefs.

Unlimited Blade Works is how much is those ideals are tested and how much they can change.

Heaven's Feel is an incredible story on how much a man will destroy and abandon his ideals after getting the best Paizuri imaginable. And making it the good route

Nasu is king

what can i say except kino, peak fiction, or any other expression of this kind

for me, as both a Type Moon and Visual Novel fan, Fate/Stay Night is at the pinnacle of the medium, Shirou Emiya, as a protagonist, is both flawed yet endearing in his almost suicidal sense of justice, putting the protection of other above anything else, each of the 3 routes has something for someone in their themes, writing and characters

i heavily recommend.

Dive into the intricate world of Fate/stay night, where philosophical dilemmas and fantasy intertwine to create a unique narrative experience. This visual novel weaves a tale of heroic spirits, complex characters, and a multitude of branching paths, giving players a chance to explore a multitude of scenarios and endings. Embark on an adventure that questions morality, ideals, and the very essence of one's beliefs.

At first glance, the humorous observation that "Shirou rhymes with goat" might seem playful, but there's a deeper truth to it. Our protagonist, Shirou Emiya, carries the weight of his ideals with unwavering determination, just like the greatest of heroes. The quote "If you walk down the path that you believe is right, you cannot be wrong," attributed to Shirou, encapsulates the core theme of the story – the unwavering pursuit of one's beliefs despite the odds.

While some aspects of the series may have left a sour taste in some mouths, it's important to acknowledge that Fate/stay night explores profound themes through its characters' struggles and triumphs. Shirou's journey to save others, driven by his survivors' guilt, is a central plot element that drives his character arc. The contrast between his ideals and the grim reality of his situation adds depth to his development, even if some moments may have caused frustration for viewers.

The relationships between characters, while occasionally resembling harem dynamics, also provide insight into the complexity of human emotions and connections. Saber, Archer, Rin, and other key figures contribute to the rich tapestry of the story, each bringing their own perspectives and struggles to the forefront. It's worth noting that the character arcs can take unexpected turns, making it a fascinating ride for players invested in their stories.

It's true that some of the choices and outcomes might seem paradoxical or counterintuitive. However, the game's narrative structure is designed to challenge players' preconceived notions and expectations. While Shirou's choices may appear puzzling at times, they align with his ideals, creating a thought-provoking narrative that pushes players to contemplate their own beliefs and perspectives.

Overall, Fate/stay night offers a complex and intricate storyline that delves into philosophical concepts while maintaining a fantasy adventure setting. Its multidimensional characters and thought-provoking scenarios make it a must-play for fans of intricate storytelling. While it may not cater to everyone's tastes, it succeeds in creating a memorable experience that invites players to explore the blurred lines between right and wrong.

So, fellow adventurers, prepare to step into the world of Fate/stay night and discover the complexities of fate, beliefs, and the power of choice.

Score: 7/10

Welcome to Smarty Pants folks! This ones gonna be a doozie! Didnt play the VN... I got the experience well enough from the anime! Lets just say not even the double points dance could save this atrocity because 0 x 2.5 is still ZERO. Just like the amount of braincells you will have by the end of watching or playing this corny dogshit mess of a series. Coincidentally idiot dumbass smooth brained Shitrou also has no braincells! Hes so mentally challenged i bet he couldnt even get a question "CORRECT!" in the "GAMES!" category something even a madman could do! Well at least they were consistent with something! If this criticism seems harsh "SORRY!" Not really though. Fate Stay Night is "TOO BAD!" to write anything really meaningful to it. But ill try my best to summarize this shitshow I will "NARROW IT DOWN!" to dumbass shounen boy who sucks at everything to do in the show but his personality is watered down to: i help people i protect gurl when im an incompetence jackass! Oh he helps people because of survivers guilt? And it shows that his ideal of saving everyone as horribly idiotic makes him a hypocrite? "RIGHTY-OH!" But if his dream is wrong then why is the series making it out that hes right? How did he even get survivers guilt if a fucking building fell on him? Whats he gonna do if hes stronger? Fight buildings and fire? Shitrou is repeatedly idiotic and mentally challenged yet stumbles into solutions all the same! This is the person who beats Gilgamesh the most powerful warrior but also says the line: people die when they are killed? He beats archer because he says his idiotic ideal is right when he has no actual experience fighting and that he is proven to be wrong because archer is him from the future who suffered through his shitty ideal thus Shitrou always was wrong from the start but he still wins? Because just because hes right doesnt mean hes correct? "NOPE!" What kind of dumbshit is that?! After he was always wrong due to being so fucking stupid at the end when he beats beats archer and continues down a path that garentees failure madness and death he says he will do it anyways just maybe a bit less... WHAT THE FUCK How does anyone get any sort of "ENTERTAINMENT!" from this garbage!

Also the harem garbage where he can fall in love with his bland sword girl because: Saber isnt allowed to fight! SHE GIRL I DUN WANNA SEE HER GET HURT! Yet doesnt give 2 shits about the majority of male characters they cant even make this dipshit consistent because THATS TOO HARD! Look at how he treats Iliya the little dipshit who tries to kill them! Shitrou is just fine with her at the end of it but Shinji is bad because hes a asshole? This is barely about his fuck ass ideals its about waifus and "I KNOW IT!" Also the other choices Tsundere dipshit who looks smart but is actually almost as fucking stupid as Shitrou just looking smarter while next to him. Last we have some weird girl who says senpai repeatedly and Shirou is so mentally challenged for loving her because SHE TRIES TO KILL HIM IN THIS ROUTE!

All of that and funny enough the only way Shitrous idiotic ideal would work is if they did a "SWITCHAROO!" and made his character arc a tragedy instead forcing stupidity to be the winning choice just to have the protagonist succeed and get a girlfriend at the end even when he is proven wrong. FUCK SHITROU EMIYUCK "YOU ARE (not) THE SMARTY PANTS!"

Now with the negatives out of the way here are the positives for this Smarty Pants review: There are bad end paths were Shitrou dies! "Niiiiiiice!" But you can tell the creator doesnt read too many "BOOKS!" Because any series were that insufferable turd dies is a good ending! Regardless because of it the rating is one star instead of half a star.

Welcome to Smarty Pants!

One of my favorites Visual Novels.
which makes the route event the best in gaming.
BTW Heaven feels is the best

Die Animes sind urrr geil also is auch das geil.

As good as it's hyped up to be. Don't let Grand Order taint your view of type moon's writing. Also don't let whatever shitty western dating sim infested idea of visual novels you hold keep you from giving it a shot. 3 routes, increasing in length and focusing on a different heroine. Don't care for the heroines? Cool, just about everyone else is incredible anyways. Comes with iconic music accompanying fight scenes cooler than most actual video games. taiga route when btw

Its tough to rate FS/N fairly for a few reasons to me. First and foremost is the juggernaut of a franchise it spawned. Fate is one of the most successful and massive franchises of its genre and it can be hard to remember this started as an ambitious story and not the beginning of a decade-long franchise.
This game has been a 4 year journey, I've played it on and off for longer than any other story-based game, so as a whole, it feels a bit hazy. Despite that, I really did enjoy it
The first route, Stay/Night is a solid start that heavily emphasizes establishing ideas and characters and playing by the rules. Its simple, but the arc between Shirou and Saber hits very hard. Even if Shirou acts like a sexist prick thanks to his martyr complex.
The second route, Unlimited Blade Works, is far and away my favorite. With Archer and Shirous's dynamic and story are so well done and poignant. Fantastic stuff there. Berserker is simply built better
The final route (and the freshest in my mind) Heveans Feel is probably my least favorite. Sakuras story doesn't feel as tasteful as it probably should have and her and Shirou can't keep it in their pants its crazy. But still fulfills a great conclusion.
Overall FS/N is keen to leave no story beat unexplored. Any and every rule it establishes is broken completely and cleanly, the story always curveballs at moments that leave the characters heading in a direction completely new.
I think 4.5/5 may be a bit nice to it for its amount of 2000s anime bullshit, and being an eroge (TBH when highschool me downloaded this from 4chan thinking the sex scenes would be a funny joke, he was not planning on college me groaning to death when Sakura and Shirou can't be mature for a full day.) They really suck not a fan! The rerelease removes em I think should have played that.
With that rant out of the way, yeah its good.

really fun read id recommend it (i love shirou x saber yall)

this is the most VN on VNDB which is the reason i delved into it. This makes no sense to me as it's definitely not the best but also extremely unfriendly to beginners.

This and hollow ataraxia are the only Fate works that matter.
