This season was just very eh. Not super notable, and personally I just didn't play a whole lot so I can't judge much either. I think the season before burned me out on the game pretty hard, and when this one came around I was just still not super interested. The battle pass was alright, but Ahsoka as the secret skin was lame beyond belief. The loot pool was decent and the new POIs added were somewhat interesting, but too sparse and small to really make a difference and to distract from the awful forest biome added last season. The storyline was pretty nonexistent as well, the big antagonist of the season was killed off screen in a quest. Not the best season but not the worst, infinitely better than Season 3 of this chapter.
-maybe 3 good skins in bp, rest were hot ass
-loot pool was a huge step up from last season
-ROCKET RAM
-heists were fun
-map is kind of a mess full of POIs I don't care about
-Besides collabs Fortnitemares was a total joke
Good memories but I don't see myself missing this season or this island too much next chapter.

I'm retroactively reviewing previous seasons post c5s1.
i really want to say I liked this season, but the numbers don't lie. this is one of the seasons I played the least. It just wasn't that exciting. the heist locales were really well designed. The act of the three way battle between the Card NPCs, Other Players, and You, made it a stressful battle each time. it was great. Not to mention the music, spot on. Otherwise, the rest of the season was pretty mid. the lack of a true fortnightmares/halloween event. the inclusion of the tiktok shrug guy. i dunno man, a weird and uneventful way to end a chapter. also, none of this battle pass will likely be a consistent equip for me, so double meh.

I will defend this season with my life. Aside from Khaby and Ashoka (I got tired of collabs in the game long ago...) the Battle Pass characters are great and the quests to assemble the Heist crew are so goofy and enjoyable. Heisting the vaults is super fun and has some banger music to go along with it. Wood Stake shotgun is super fun, and the Rocket Ram is no contest the best mobility item ever added to Fortnite and I'm SO mad that it got removed immediately after the season ended.
I'm honestly surprised people really hate the jungle biome, but I'm playing zero build so maybe that makes a difference. Either way, the only thing I outright disliked about this season was Horde Rush feeling kind of boring.

unfortunately mid 😒 the heists lose their appeal after the first run which leaves you with the same map from last season with all of its tired issues carrying over. the lootpool is okay but i think the twin mag ar seems like an entirely superfluous gimmick that just feels worse to use than last seasons mk7, heals feel way too strong still but i like the burst smg and the mobility options. the battle pass was also good 👍 but the worst part of this season is the new ui it is so terrible.... the new design language they are pushing not only completely clashes with the other aspects of the games visual identity, but also isn't even consistent within its own additions ? the layout is unintuitive, the navigation is clunky and it has broken on me several times already -_- legit the worst part of the season 😭
Finished the BP for the V-bucks but honestly this had the shittest battle pass in quite a while lol, you know you fucked something up when the most notable thing on it was just Some Guy from Tiktok. Map locations were cool and heisting tools were neat for a while, but a couple new areas on an old map still feels mostly old, and it very quickly became my experience where if you were solo and weren't running turrets you were just always at a disadvantage which is a bit lame.
Cannot say I'm terribly excited for Fortnite OG. I've got like 600 hours in this game and probably 200-300 of those were in chapter 1 and I think they're trying to bring back something that just doesn't exist anymore. Those seasons worked because there just weren't that many people cracked at building so if you could build a quick 1x1 and just sit in it you were chillin, but now the skill floor to enjoy a building mode is just so much higher. AFAIK they're keeping nobuild, but I expect there to be problems with having nobuild on a map that wasn't designed for it. Been seeing a lot of the people most loudly be clamoring for Old Fortnite Back be like 17 on twitter (i.e. they were 11 when those seasons were coming out lmao) so I'm expecting their nostalgia glasses to get shattered so we can just stop pretending like this game was better before they added, like, sprinting or revives or whatever they ended up deciding to remove lol. TBH the reason Fortnite still works is because they've tried like a million things and kept only the stuff that works, reverting all that for a little while just feels odd to me.
