I know this one is peak GG but I didn't really do much beyond story mode. And the story mode has the exact same presentation as X Plus and X2 so it got pretty bland, pretty quickly. Especially because very little of note happens in anyone's story. I'd need to delve into online with the steam version to get more out of this one. Still, same look and sound as X2 but with more content so it's great.

Zappas theme goes so fucking crazy

Best Guilty Gear game ever released.

Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus is a notable fighting game that stands out for several reasons. Firstly, its visual quality is impressive. The detailed sprites and fluid animations create an exceptional visual aesthetic that captivates players from the moment they turn on the game. Characters have a unique and memorable design, and each special attack is accompanied by spectacular visual effects, making each fight a visually stunning experience. Another great asset of the game is its vast selection of characters. Each fighter has a completely different fighting style, with unique movements, combos and abilities. This not only increases the diversity of strategies available, but also encourages exploration as players discover characters that suit their play style. The combat system in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus is deep and complex. It incorporates advanced mechanics such as the Roman Cancel system, which allows players to cancel attacks to create custom combos. This means the game is accessible for casual players, but also offers depth for those who want to delve deeper into its tactical nuances. Learning to master these mechanics can be a rewarding journey as players develop their skills and strategies. The game's soundtrack deserves to be highlighted, as it is energetically diverse and contributes significantly to the atmosphere of the fights. The songs range from intense to catchy, making each fight even more exciting. Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus also offers an experience for players who want to immerse themselves in the narrative. Story mode delves into the characters' backgrounds and explores an intriguing plot that captivates players as they progress. However, like many fighting games, balance between characters can be an issue. Some fighters may be more powerful than others, which can affect competitiveness in matches between highly skilled players. In short, Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus is a fighting game masterpiece. Its combination of stunning visual elements, a wide selection of characters, a complex combat system and an immersive soundtrack make it a worthwhile title for any fan of the genre. The tactical depth, combined with the variety of game modes, makes it a solid choice for both casual players and those looking to compete at more advanced levels.

THE fighting game.
Doesn't get better than this in my opinion
Killer soundtrack, infinitely high skill ceiling with one of the most impressive rosters in gaming

Even if it now looks kinda like a PC doujin title, the passion and personality crammed into pre-Xrd Guilty Gear is exuded by every pixel of this ruthless, irreverent, fathoms-deep, execution-hungry anime fighter.

The Ino arcade boss fight is stupid

At some point all these Guilty Gear games started to look and feel the same to me. I got this super cheap on steam, it's fun to jam for some hours and the online is alive and well. I think the franchise is lacking some of the depth other fighting games have, but them metal tunes and the characters always give it a lot of energy.

Venom is perhaps... the sickest fighting game character ever conceived.

This game fucks, the 3v3 mode is a fantastic way to try more characters faster and have more variety, all the characters are unique and do cool shit. Fantastic game if you are hardcore into fighting games or if you just wanna goof off with friends.

Go to character select, pick Slayer, pilebunker, good time!

i wish i could jive with this game

My personal favourite entry in the Guilty Gear series. I really enjoy the roster and systems of this entry. There's a real nice balance across the cast, and of course I greatly appreciate the OST options (especially as a Robo-Ky main). Please give it a try if you can.

+R is a game I still consider myself 'playing' but haven't touched in a while. The nature of fighting games I suppose. After the first KOF rollback game in late 2020 (2002 UM), which I mashed in for a bit, this game's rollback netcode came to open beta and I was pretty big into it for a while. I already liked Guilty Gear and had been sad about the difficulties with Xrd's online play. +R gave me a whole new appreciation for how good rollback gaming feels because I had somewhat of a better idea how things were supposed to work for Guilty Gear than for KOF, and I quickly realised I didn't want to go back to delay netcode, ever. This kicked off a series of me buying older games as they would get netcode patches and having some of my best fun in fighting games ever, in a period of time where I never got to play in person at all. (I'm still in that period.)

It's a messy game, in fairness, with a lot of weird stuff that doesn't make sense to a first time player, but god it's so fast, you really can just pick it up with a friend and mash away until something funny happens. And I highly recommend you do.

Unreal game with the most horrid achievements I have ever witnessed

I unlocked Ultimate Double Edged Mode on Dec 16th
