Really impressive what they were able to do with the source engine. This is a great port.

Best way to experience a classic

Makes a game from 2004 feel like it was made alongside Alyx

Great controls great game

Thought it was an incredible experience enhancing the original, even if there are some clunky stuff here and there, but regardless of that the silent protagonist pov in VR works really well and makes the experience even better than it did before for me compared to normal HL2, and I can't wait to play Episode 1 and 2 in VR

it was peak like that gordon freeman-ing gman-ing etc .

Really cool experiment in which some parts of the game make the jump to VR much more gracefully than others. Movement shooters weren't made for this medium, which is why Alyx wasn't one and why the late-game chapters of this mod are a bit too overwhelming (especially with those immersive reloads asking even more of you), but freely one-handing the gravity gun to shred my way through Ravenholm absolutely felt as badass as you'd expect it to.

Don't binge the vehicle levels. Anything but that.

This mod makes Half Life 2 feel like a whole new game. That's the easiest thing to say, but it is really how I feel. The game feels built for VR, I never felt any form of motion sickness, nor felt that anything was lost in the translation. The Action is good as ever and the airboat especially were highlights for me. Easily a great use for VR, and an incredible Mod.

sounds cool to play but then i get motion sick + cables are annoying to deal with

I thought Half Life 2 was a fairly aged game when I played it way back in college on my original Xbox, but I still immensely enjoyed it. So many years later, I got a Valve Index and this has been the most time I sank into something so far.

Holy shitting hell.

This mod goes above and beyond to make Half Life 2 work akin to Alyx but somehow all the physics puzzles, the world /level design, and combat feel PERFECTLY tuned to the VR experience that it...honestly washes away a lot of the grime of age. The only real ding I give it is its the Source engine adapted into a VR set up so naturally I've had a couple specific crashes and some wonky, but minor, visual glitches. Other than that, runs like a dream.

I feel like I was playing this game for the first time ever. Again. And that is SUCH a joyous feeling with any game. A completely incredible experience that makes an aging game feel 20 years younger. Highest recommendation I could give something honestly.

A great way to experience Half-Life 2 in VR with actual thought put into playability in a VR environment. Still a bit clunky, though adapting an 18 year old game to extremely recent technology will do that.

Real fun to play Half Life 2 once again but finally have a vaguely different experience, even if reloading mid-combat is nightmarish.

Water Hazard made my stomach physically turn inside out.
The thing left my body, twisted around a bunch and went back inside me.
And I had a great time doing it.
