Halo: Spartan Strike is the long awaited (ha) follow up to 2013's Spartan Assault.

Honestly that's everything you need to know about this piece of shit. It's not really that bad, but it's so painfully, totally mediocre that it's worse than a truly bad game. While it's only two or three hours long, every minute drags on and on as you complete the same dull objectives over and over. What's even worse is that the biggest change here is the inclusion of the Promethean enemy faction from Halo 4. Yay. Those boring fucks. So happy to see them again.

It annoys me so much because this idea has potential. Why not do a top down remake of the first Halo, or even a new full length entry in that vein? The mainline Halos basically operate on a flat plane anyway, so why not give it a go and see what happens. But no, instead we have this pair of half-arsed mobile games. Hooray.

While I could excuse its short runtime, its boring plot and uninteresting gameplay (I'm lying, I couldn't excuse those things but just accept the premise for now), where I draw the line is after fighting immense boredom to see the end of this game, it then turns around and says "Nope, you haven't gotten all the gold stars on all the levels yet. Piss off and do it right, then you can have the last 20% of the game" How dare you, Spartan Strike. This is the gaming equivalent of a hookup who spits in your eye and shits on the floor then has the arrogance to think they can edge you. Fuck off.

Whatever your opinions may be on the low points of Halo, 4 is nothing compared to this. Here I was thinking maybe I'd find an interesting forgotten gem, but no, the Halo Spartan games are dire. Cheap cashins thrown together to try to convince you to actually use Windows 8. Phooey.

The game design did not improve in any significant way. If anything, the game is even easier so it's even more of a slog to play. Feels like they just wanted to release anything to keep Halo in peoples minds before Halo 5.

This one doesn't have the difficulty spikes of Spartan Assault, but also doesn't do anything to really evolve or differentiate on that foundation. I will say that requiring gold medals to unlock the "final" mission is ridiculous, I decided I wasn't enjoying the game enough to go for that.

I was playing this as a time waster on the Steam Deck. It's alright, the environments are kind of cool. I died twice on a level and was like "ehhh, it isn't worth it to keep playing this"

Better than Spartan Assault, but not by much. You also have to get gold stars on every mission to unlock the final chapter, which is idiotic design in my opinion.

Melhor que o Spartan Assault, mas mais curto e com certeza mais do mesmo.

Spartan Strike takes what works with Spartan Assault, and effectively gives it a pretty yet harder coat of paint. Seriously, I don't know why people suggest that Assault was the harder game when the AI and mobs just work better within this game. You still get the typical one life to live and no checkpoints throughout, but what really makes Spartan Strike so difficult is how long some of the levels are.

This isn't to say that Spartan Strike is like a full Halo campaign that lasts 9 hours with full meaty missions, but rather the levels in Strike often run just a little too long, and you end up dying on the last wave having to start all over again. On top of that, there is more pressure to get the side missions as they are projected at the loading screen of each mission, and cumulative throughout runs of each level. The main problem with such a mission tho is that you aren't given the name of the weapon while playing during the game; which makes a lot of these side missions guessing games despite how different each gun looks.

Despite the slightly higher difficult, side quests, and length of each mission; Spartan Strike is the easier game to score gold in, and a lot of that has to do with constant engagement with enemies, more vehicle play, and the better overall graphics. Legitimately being able to see more details within each model, the constant atmosphere change of each overall mission, and better UI of aiming really makes Spartan Strike less of a guessing game, and more of a skilled one. Not to say Spartan Assault required no skill, but each death in Spartan Strike felt like my fault rather than a simple misread of the map. While I don't think the graphics of twin stick shooters matter all that much, Spartan Strike clearly showed me they do impact a lot more than I thought, and I have to say I enjoyed exploring newer maps that weren't simple rocks and war tore areas.

I'm really divided between which game I like more, and I think a lot of that has to do with the mindless fun that Assault gives over the more interesting campaign of Strike. If someone where to ask me which is the better game, Strike easily wins, but if you were to ask me which I enjoyed more, it honestly feels like it's more of a toss up. Regardless Halo Spartan Strike is an enjoyable game that I think every Halo fan would like to run through at least once, and still a great reminder that Halo works for the genre of twin stick shooters.

Had to play offline to avoid crashes after every level. Otherwise, this is better than its predecessor in every way. The story is easier to follow and gameplay annoyances from the first game were resolved. Would have been nice if this was on Xbox.

Worse Spartan Assault. Also played on Xbox One, idk why that isn't an option.

Maybe the fact I was miserable because I was sick is the reason I liked this more than I think I should've.

For a top down shooter this was a lot more difficult than I expected, which makes sense cause I guess they want you to keep going back to it, and there's not really much else to pull you once you complete all the missions. However, if you're looking to kill a few hours this isn't that bad a game to run through.

what the fuck do you mean i have to get all gold stars to play the final chapter in this windows phone game
