Warriors-styled games are incredibly hard to fuck up. In this case, they did just about everything they could to represent BotW in its entirety. BotW does a lot of telling, but this game shows you everything that happened in the calamity. The biggest negative to address is the story, but Warriors games were never fun for their stories. I actually prefer how much more involved this story is than the one in Breath of the Wild, even if it undoes the bad outcome.
I think I enjoyed this game a lot more than most people in part because I wasn't that into Breath of the Wild and its lore so this game's more divisive writing decisions didn't bother me as much and in part because I'm just generally a huge Musou sucker and this game, mechanically speaking, is a very, very solid Musou game. Not as good as the original Hyrule Warriors but then few Musou games are. The movesets are largely great, there's a huge amount of content, and the system mechanics include a lot of super nice touches, like every character getting their own variations on the Sheikah Slate runes, and shield-wielding characters like Link and Urbosa getting to use the parry/reflection straight from BotW. There's just a lot to chew on and experiment with for fans of the genre.
That said, while I didn't consider it a deal breaker like some people, the performance definitely isn't ideal. I don't think it's a controversial statement to say this is like, the #1 game that would benefit from the existence of a Switch Pro. But it's also pretty old at this point so knowing Nintendo and Koei Tecmo they probably wouldn't even update this game to make use of the hardware lol

The gameplay is about the same or maybe a little less than the original Hyrule warriors however it still is really fun. I also really did like the direction the narrative was pushing but the lack of willingness to tell a tragedy and stick to cannon was very disappointing and ruined this games ending very much so.

I was never interested in those Dynasty Warriors games at all, but I saw that they made one based on the events of Breath of the Wild pre calamity and I was just too curious.
The main reason I never cared for these games is because they always seemed like all you do is mash buttons and turn off your brain, which doesn't sound engaging or fun at all. After having played this one, I can say that my preconception of this gameplay formula wasn't totally accurate, but it wasn't 100% wrong either (At least when it comes to this game)...
I liked seeing these characters again, and there is definitely some fun to be had with performing combos and destroying these massive hordes of enemies with most of these characters. However, I was not a fan of the approach they took for the story of this game, I thought it was gonna be a re-telling of the story pre BotW, and how the whole fight for Hyrule went down before Link was defeated.
Instead, this game is just a what if scenario, with time travel and a happy ending where nobody actually died and Ganon was defeated for good from the very beginning. And yeah, I liked seeing Mipha meet with future Sidon, or Riju and Urbosa...But was it really worth it to ditch the actual story and make this game not canon just to have moments like those?
But in reality, my biggest issue with this game is just that it is TOO repetitive and tedious. Again, there is only so many times I can mash the Y or X button mindlessly and fight against giant enemies that take like a million hits to die before I get sick of it.
Not only that, but the game constantly will throw you in levels that are just massive areas that you must explore, while constantly move back and forth, between different characters, and all while you are mashing through the same hordes of enemies and giants over...and over....and OVER again.
By the time I was about to reach the end of the game, I was already sick of it! So when the game threw me in another massive map full of giants that would deplete my health like it was nothing, while I had to hit them a million fucking times and half...I just couldn't bother anymore! I just dropped it and watched the ending on YouTube instead.
I guess it isn't a bad game...I just really wasn't a fan of the approach they took with the plot, and I really don't like this gameplay formula. It's fun for a bit, but after you play for 20 minutes you have pretty much experienced the whole game; just tedious and repetitive button mashing and combo spamming for way too long.
If you actually like the Dynasty Warriors games, chances are you will actually enjoy this one...But this ain't for me. I abandoned it, but funnily enough, I didn't learn from my experience; after all...This is not the only Warriors game I'm gonna be talking about.

It's a Warriors game so it gets repetitive fast, not that surprising. The story was interesting until the halfway point. FPS is fucking terrible like wtf happened, omg the FPS is at its worst in the Zora areas, or levels with rain in them. Genuinely why did they do that time shit, I know that we know what the end of the champions are in BOTW, but having the time travel affect it is stupid, now there is two different timelines, the Age of Calamity timeline and the BOTW timeline, must unnecessary shit ever, atleast the what if scenarios are cute, like adult Sidon and Mipha
This was my first warriors game. I don't know if every single warriors game is like this, but I was not really enjoying it. It felt repetitive and boring. On top of that, the game runs terribly on the Switch. With how bad the FPS dipped at times, and how bad the resolution looked, it really took away from my enjoyment and just led me to dropping the game. I do not recommend this, even if you're a BOTW or TOTK fan.
