Wonderful game. Great action, great humour, great story. What I wouldn't do for a good strudel.

Horrendous physics, annoying movement, terrible aiming, incredibly stupid and unfair at points. It made me rage quit many times. Yet was also one of the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time. I'd always come back to it even though it's certifiably janky ass. Good game. Would buy.

It is incredibly satisfying to beat people up in this game; it may because it's so natural to the Indiana Jones setting, but it also could be tied to the excellent foley work tied to the punches. Honestly however, I don't remember much else about this game besides some frustrating boss fights. Definitely tempted to refresh my memory, though.

Definitely one of the better licensed games of its era. Very simple in its design and mechanics but everything feels satisfying enough to be rewarding and just bullshit enough to keep you humble. Genuinely shocked by how much I enjoyed it. Damn shame that these guys never got to finish their original trilogy game.

Its the long forgotten younger brother next to Fate of Atlantis and the Infernal Machine. It gets the vibe perfectly and is fun to play,. Well mostly fun, I do often stop playing when I actually get to the Emperors Tomb. Some of those platforming challenges will drive you into a early grave.

The perfect Indiana Jones gaming experience in my eyes.

Nails, not just the narrative tone and visual aesthetics of Spielberg's cinematic adventure serials to a T, but the game's combat.

The way the game's combat works is what sells the entire thing. Fights feel dirty and scrappy. Indy's hat can fly off during fights and you can pick it up again after you've defeated your enemy. It's the little touches like that which make "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb" so special imo.

Shockingly good for a licensed game! Janky in all the ways you'd expect, but it captures the feeling of the movies amazingly well.

I decided awhile back that I would rewatch the Indiana Jones series in timeline order starting with Young Indy and ending when I see the fifth film in cinemas.

But having watched all of Young Indy in January that left me with a lot of time and I decided to also play the three main Indy video games, starting off with Emperor's Tomb as its set before Temple.

I enjoyed a lot of my time playing this game, the fighting was really fun and I loved the soundtrack by Clint Bajakian but unfortunately many parts of the game were sometimes ruined by the controls not being up to scratch, the swimming sections were painful and the section where you are chased by von Bec was a literal nightmare, but apart from those two instances and perhaps the puzzles before the finale, it was a decent experience.

I liked that we got to see Wu Han if only briefly though I found it a bit odd that there was no mention of short round, perhaps the two meet during the events between now and Temple. The actor playing Indy was... well he tried his best and did a decent enough job at playing Harrison Ford.

Overall yet another great adventure for Jonesy and I am excited for the next few following!

I know Indy's seen some pretty wild stuff but the guy straight up fights the Kraken in here and shrugs it off

It's not even the final boss, it's like 1/3 of the way through the game and he never just says, "oh by the way I fought the Kraken in an undersea temple, that's pretty wild right?"

And this is before any of the theatrical films, mind you

surprisingly decent, was not expecting that when i picked it up for 50p at cash converters in 2010

I didn't find any reason to stick with this game, as there's not much that drew me in. The combat was repetitive (enemies took way too long to take down), the checkpoints were pretty cheap, and for some reason Indy sounded out of breath at any slight movement throughout the game.

Despite its problems, Emperor's Tomb is probably for better or worse the best Indiana Jones action game, not counting Fate of Atlantis. The fight controls, the uses of the whip, along with its artstyle, as well as its sound effects and music give off a very professionally made presentation that isnt stinking of a low budget title. It truly feels like care was taken to make this - for the time - a true Indiana Jones title.

However, the game isn't a well oiled machine. Everything about the movement and physics of the game is very janky. Even when playing with the analog controls properly set up, Indy somehow can't walk in a straight line. The game is also sometimes finicky about whether or not the whip can reach its whippable point. There are also no checkpoints aside from the level load in, so there are the general annoyances of dying near the end of a large level and having to start over again.

With everything set up though, this old windows game is able to be played pretty well on the Steam Deck despite the graphical issue that appears only if the level is outdoors.

There are some parts that do not match reality, they bother me from time to time. But it made my childhood beautiful. When I was little, I wanted to be an archaeologist because of this game.

The best thing about this game is the hat physics I love how much attention they paid to how the hat falls off. The rest did not grab me

I tried to complete this game for over 10 years. But with 17 I defeated it, and it felt great. Also this game is so good for a license game. It really feels like classic spielberg Indy

It definitely has all the elements that make up the attributes of the film. There's surprisingly impactful brawling, some gun play, exotic vistas and archaeological ancient platforming.

Whilst it has all these things, it masters none. It's all quite janky, but for a game of this period juggling so many elements, you forgive it. With all the things Indiana Jones has, you're just glad to see that they tried to include them where they could. And you appreciate that it feels like a relatively natural extension of the IP into the gaming space, even though its not the greatest game.

Exact type of game I'm always avoiding.
Awful hitboxes, awful jumping physics, awful "parkour". Indi feels so fucking slow and heavy.
At least the fighting being "Souls like" is quite satisfying and nice.

Aside from some dated controls and platforming, it does an amazing job at capturing the film’s feel while having fresh ideas and music.

This one's a classic. First couple of levels in the jungle are slow, but it rapidly gets better and better from Prague onwards. When you get to China it's awesome, there's new enemies who aren't just reskins but actually behave and attack differently and have different weapons. New items, mechanics and consumables are introduced, etc. The last third of this game has the most love and care put into it unlike a lot of games out there.

I recommend playing the Steam version as it has way better textures than the console counterparts and you can config widescreen and 60 fps settings which will make the game look and feel incredible.

Combat is interesting and addictive, ammo is not that abundant so you can't really cheese your way through the levels. You can chain combos if you time them right, can dodge and block attacks, etc. You can also throw chairs and wine bottles at people, grab them and throw them into crocodile/shark infested waters or cliffs, or beat them with a table leg or throw a hand granade at them from afar if you want (They have an insane damage radius so be careful)

Environments are surprisingly gorgeous and atmospheric for such an old game. From Instanbul to the sunken Greek city, the Chinese fortress, the Netherworld and beyond, it's really a marvel artistically. If you also like history you'll enjoy it greatly. You never quite expect what you'll encounter in the next room. Music is superb as well, it has this mystery undertone to it which I really like.

Bosses are actually fun and interesting to fight, puzzles are easy but engaging too. Many good things to say about this game.

It has a major problem though.

You can spend upwards of 30+ minutes clearing and carefully exploring a single area, only for Indy to slip and die to fall damage at the last moment, and then having to do EVERYTHING all over again from the very beginning of the area. Wastes way too much player time. The fact that some platforming sections are very slow and drawn out (some even with multiple cutscenes) doesn't help much.

Just needed a better checkpoint system. Everything else is amazing.

Highly recommended.

Bar none, The best game adaptation we’ve gotten of the beloved Whip cracking, Treasure Hunting World Explorer. It has great combat mechanics, exotic locations and an engaging story.

100% with all artifacts, with a total equal to or greater than 7 hours. It had been closed for a while. It's funny how Indy heals, drinking water (what is it?) or healing items. It has similar mechanics to "Infernal in the Machine", less buggy as it seems, the penultimate boss is more interesting than the last boss.

Considering it has the word 'Tomb' in the title, I'm sure you can guess the main point of reference. It's an ok platformer adventure but isn't particularly remarkable beyond a couple of set-pieces. The alligator segments were pretty tense and the final boss fight is pretty whacky if I remember correctly.
