just not my cup of tea. i actually prefer the 1998 & 2007 versions over this edition of mahjong solitaire. very much an aesthetic issue to me but also incredibly obnoxious that free pc gamepass premium does NOT carry over to other games in the microsoft "solitaire & casual games" collection. far too 'modern' in its graphics while also being swamped with the most obnoxious advertisements i've ever seen (except for in the 2012 microsoft jigsaw game, which is also in the same casual game collection.)

A great daily game of Mahjong. There are challenges and plenty of puzzles to complete with unlockable customizations for tiles & boards. You have to pay for a subscription to access older puzzles prior to the current month, but playing this every morning for over a year was still a fun experience.

Only slightly worse of a Mahjong simulator than Yakuza Kiwami (2016, Sega).

Microsoft Mahjong is pretty good, if you like mahjong you will most likely enjoy this. It has 100s of levels to do as well as a daily challenges making it the definitive way to play mahjong digitally

I was convinced that Mahjong and Mahjong solitaire were the same thing which led to a few embarrassing times in Japan where people were impressed that I knew what Mahjong was and invited me to play with them only for me to later look like an idiot foreigner who had no clue what they were talking about.

Interestingly, Mahjong Solitaire, the game westerners refer to as Mahjong, is actually only about 40 years old. It was developed solely for computers as a way to teach people how to use a mouse effectively.

This version is okay, but why does it show up on Xbox Gamebar as three separate games each with different achievements? Marked down for being annoying.

I wish the symbols were easier to decipher
