I like it when Peach wears cute little outfits

Is it easy? Sure?
Is it short? Yes
Is it PEACHY? Fuck yeah it is.

pretty darn gosh fun, baby games stay winning

Princess Peach Showtime was a clever, cheerful, and entertaining game for the Switch late in its current lifespan. It’s a fun game aimed towards a younger audience, but my wife and I thought it would be fun to play together. We had a great time, and ended up really loving this little theater world. It took us about 4 days to play through it all, about 2 hours a day after work. It is a little short, but would be perfect length if it was made for a handheld like the 3DS. I can’t help but wonder if the people who made it were originally making games for the 3DS, and with the Switch being both handheld and a home console, sorta ended having to merge a handheld game into working as a home console game as well. It explains the short playtime, and Nintendo must have been so happy to have an excuse to slap a home console price right on top, too. That is really my only complaint, the pricing, but at this point I guess I should know that Nintendo is Nintendo… ugh lol.

Besides that, I had a very lovely time playing Princess Peach’s Showtime! It seemed to really know its audience as my wife was obsessed with seeing Peach in all her different outfits, and even getting to decorate her look when off the stage. I’m a bit more of a tomboy, but I still had fun! I like Peach (totalllyyyy wasn’t in love with her as a kid, what hm? Who said that?) and it was cool seeing her perform different roles when she’s often been typecast as the damsel-in-distress since day one. Plus, her outfits were pretty cute! I dunno, I liked it! But I can understand complaints people have had as well. Check it out if you really love Peach, but otherwise you’ll probably have more fun with something else.

3.5/5

This game had so much potential but it just fell flat for me. This is Peach's first solo game since the controversial Super Princess Peach but there just isn't much content here at all. The content it does have is enjoyable, despite it being extremely easy, but you're probably getting around 7 hours of playtime for a full-price game which, in my opinion, isn't worth it at all.

The concept of Showtime is cool because each world is like a different genre of game, some of my favourites were the more stealth-based ninja levels, the mighty mission levels where Peach becomes a superhero, and the kung fu levels which have awesome combat. However, there are some levels which bring the game down, and every level is mandatory to beat before fighting the final boss so there's no way to avoid them. For example, the detective levels were extremely slow and provided very little challenge to make up for it; you'll spend 10 minutes finishing the level just to feel no satisfaction at all because of how easy it was.

The boss fights were a highlight of this game though, they were surprisingly fun and occasionally provided a bit of challenge. Light Fang is the boss of the second floor and I think he was probably my favourite, and the Madame Grape fight at the end was really cool too.

Overall, I think this game is just fine. I definitely wouldn't recommend paying full price for it but if you can pick it up for cheap it's a somewhat fun game to kill a few hours.

One copy of Princess Peach: Showtime, please!

Jokes aside, this game was pretty fun for what it is, and I had a good time. It's nothing wild, but i'm glad we're getting some new first party stuff here on the last leg of the switch.

I give Princess Peach: Showtime a 6!

Boring and runs like shit. Might be good for very small children, but this feels like a low-tier Kirby game in how easy and unengaging it is. Not surprising that it's from the makers of Epic Yawn, because this game also made me feel like I had just taken eight thousand milligrams of Ambien. I passed the controller to the Hat Man and he agreed that this was a lot of wasted potential.

One of the things I often commend the teams at Nintendo for is how they're unafraid to experiment. Sometimes those experiments lead to groundbreaking innovations in gameplay, other times they lead to the occasional disappointing entry. But regardless of the level of success, they tend to learn from the experimentation and use that going forward to craft even better games.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is a mixed bag because it is a game of experiments. It dares to pose many questions: What if Peach was a superhero? What if she was a detective? A cowgirl? A mermaid? And so on and so forth. Some of these questions lead to really interesting answers. Others probably didn't need to be asked.

With such wide variety of mechanics and level design, it's only natural that some power-ups shine while others fall behind. Some are really fun and made me wish I was playing an entire game designed around them. Others were just plain boring. There are a few that are strikingly similar, with one being the clear standout, leaving me to wonder why the others were included to begin with. And still others were refreshingly innovative but lacked the opportunity to be fleshed out in any meaningful manner. As there are only three levels per power, there isn't much room for depth or challenge.

Don't get me wrong — this game is a lot of fun. It has possibly the best boss fight designs for any platformer in the Mario universe (why Mario can't seem to get good boss designs of his own is beyond me). The different transformations keep any one from growing stale, although the game's runtime is rather short to begin with. But at the end of the day, this game feels very much like an experiment. A test to see if there is any interest in Peach as a protagonist, and if there is, this is a chance for them to figure out what to do with her. It's a really good experiment, but I'm hoping whatever comes next for her is more finely tuned and focused.

If we're being honest, this is really a dress-up game. And Princess Peach is a fashion icon. I love it.

Well, here it is! After so many years, Peach has finally her own game.

First of all, I absolutely love the theater theming of the game. As an actor myself, it really spoke to me, plus Good Feel worked with it really well. All gameplay styles work because they're overall simple and stay just the needed time in the game.

It is, however, a really boring crusade to 100% the game if you want to do so. I completely understand why you have to complete the entire level again and again if you miss just one collectable, there is no possibility to backtrack levels. I mean, you can't rewind theater plays as you watch them, right? So I wish they did another form of extras instead. Maybe some tasks that went through the entire act instead of collecting things?

Graphically the game looks really beautiful, but I really didn't mind much the soundtrack.

Overall, Princess Peach: Showtime is good, nothing mindblowing but good, I'm really happy I played it. Hopefully they do a sequel on Nintendo's next console, maybe even incorporating Daisy, Rosalina, Pauline and who knows, even Toadette and Birdo somehow!

Great presentation, with all the care and attention of detail that's Nintendo's trademark, and with a bunch of original ideas, but it's so short and mechanically simple that almost none of them shine as they deserved to.

I didn't go for 100% (although I wanted to) because replaying levels is incredibly tedious due to how they're structured and part of the postgame is, essentially, replaying every level. And I'm not doing that.

I had fun with the main story itself, but it left me feeling they could've done so much more with this idea.

A good game, but not worth the full price. I love the music, the final battle and the overall style of the game.

The developers didn't put a whole lot of heart or QoL into this game. Because they have to have ten different styles of play, none of them get explored to anywhere close to their fullest potential. Dashing Thief is the best because it is a lot faster paced than the others.

A short and simple game, (maybe a little too simple), that was charming enough for me to find some fun in. It might be asking a little much but I think if there was an actual storyline with depth for the plays I think it would have made the levels a little more memorable IMO. Some other complaints I had were mostly related to a lack of QOL features like not being able to skip dialogue (since you have to replay every level for 100% anyways), and having to fully finish levels to keep collectibles.

Still, I especially enjoyed all the cute dresses to unlock and the boss challenges since they spiced things up a bit. I also love Peach's little catchphrases for her costumes, I stay saying Detective Peach's "AHA!" Overall Super Princess Peach still clears this game.

This game radiates the sort of unpolished nature of a Wii-era princess game, which is extremely odd coming from a first-party Nintendo release, is what I initially noticed. Then, I noticed that it plays that way too. The controls are a bit barebones and don’t feel like careful attention was taken to them, where Nintendo usually puts gamefeel first, this just did not meet the mark. Seeing Peach’s creative costume and animations was the best part of this experience, but the extremely easy and oftentimes bland-within-their-theme levels, and some of the worst Nintendo boss fights I’ve ever played just brought this experience down to the point where I didn’t feel much desire to keep coming back to finish it.

Really fucking funny that Mario has left Bowser off the hook time after time while Peach has ostensibly killed Grape in cold blood and left nothing to bury

Peach's second solo outing is a pretty unique concept, as Peach must perform the lead roles of many plays within a theatre invaded by the "Sour Bunch" hoping to enact their "ultimate tragedy". The story isn't deep, new characters don't get much spotlight and the animation isn't the best Nintendo has put out there.

But damn I do love the stage setting, the way the stages rotate, the background elements held up by strings and the spotlight focusing on Peach, it's all very stylised and when paired with this games very dreamy soundtrack, there's an almost Disney like nostalgia about the whole thing.

Gameplay is very scattered, as Peach must don 10 roles and therefore 10 gameplay styles. It's like a grab bag, we have stealth,
platforming, combat, cake making, a rhythm game, a detective game... the variety is there but none of these styles are particularly deep and never get more complex than the basics.

Each style gets 3 stages, which isn't enough time to flesh them out or introduce much new, and while some styles are better than others, nothing is outstanding.

There are collectibles in every level, they can be fun to collect, but if you miss one the game often locks you into the next section, forcing a replay, which in stages this long and linear isn't very fun.

It's a charming game for sure and the bosses are surprisingly good, but it could do with more consistency - 6/10

As a longtime Mario fan, I expected to love this game based on its theming. Unfortunately, what I got was the complete opposite of that. First of all, the framerate is not on par with the usual 1080p resolution on most Switch games. The price point is WAY too high at the usual $59.99 for this game. Based on the game only being a grand total of 6-8 hours, the price should be about half that at $29.99.

Not only are the framerate, length and price tag bad, some of the transformations lacked for me too. I did love the Mighty and Patissiere transformations, but everything else is average at best. However, the worst outfit in this game has to be Ninja Peach by a long shot. Plus, since it's ridiculously hard to 100% everything in the levels (not being able to go back), there's not really great replay ability and lasting appeal to be found here.

Overall, this game is a far cry from what I expected as a fan of the Super Mario universe. Due to that, I don't feel like you're missing anything special by not playing it. Instead, I recommend Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which also has Peach in it who you can play as. For this game though, I feel like I have to give a 1.5/5.

this game is just too cozy and charming not to love, truly a girlhood experience

For what it's worth, I actually enjoyed this game a lot. I thought it was extremely creative, and for god's sake, the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom hasn't had her own solo game since the DS era. I hope this does well enough to span a side series of Peach games. Not only are they the perfect amount of satisfying, but we also get to see more of the Princess herself; not just as the damsel in distress. My ONLY gripe with this game is that it's a completionist's nightmare. There should be a way to either backtrack during the level to find hidden sparkle gems (which in of itself is satisfying), OR once you complete the level, if you were to go back in, you can start from a different area. There's no need to do the entire level again, I think that's just extremely obnoxious.
My favorite costumes were Figure Skater Peach, Mighty Peach, and Swordfighter Peach! I'm super glad I played this.

It's a little easy and not being able to skip dialog on repeated play throughs does get annoying. But the charm elevates the whole game

So, I played the demo and watched a full stream of the game so I’m semi-qualified to talk about it. I think the gameplay/story was eh, but I this game earns extra points for all the heart and charm that are put into it. The presentation is stunning and it just feels like watching a sunny day, it’s very sweet. Overall, cute girl/10.

The developers are true to their name, they are called Good Feel and I found myself very often feeling good while playing this.

It's just so pleasant, filled with "it's the little things" moments every other minute because it's pouring with cute details. Never got dull for me either because of all the different gameplay types through Peach's many forms in this game, though I wish you got to play more of them as I felt you're actually not really given that much time with them.

Game's not hard, like whatsoever, but that's okay mostly, the levels are still charming to go through. I do wish enemies put a bit more effort into hitting you though. It does however have a large amount of collectibles hidden throughout the levels to keep you busy, that's the full extent of a challenge you're going to get here and hey it can actually be tricky.

I do wish the rewards for getting all the collectibles were a bit more interesting as it's mostly just other dresses for Peach and Stella but said dresses are more just changes in colors and patterns, would've been more visually rewarding if they got outfits based on the levels you go through.

Overall, just a lovely time, nothing crazy but something that had me smiling plenty during my time with it. It feels like it has the soul of a Kirby game so honestly if you're a fan of those, you may enjoy this quite a bit too.

You know, I think I'm a fair bit older than the target audience for this game.

It's a fine game. Pretty well polished, it has a lot of charm to it, and I really love the theater aesthetics through the whole game. Pretty solid music too. Most of it is your average orchestral stuff, but there are some fun exceptions. The Peach costume designs are all really solid too.

But the issue I guess is just that it's not really that fun or interesting. It just feels really sanitized and overproduced. I've played stuff so much better than this on all fronts.

This is where the target audience comes into play, cause I think someone near the age of 10 might enjoy this game a lot! It's very easy with some mildly tricky parts, and it's goofy enough that I think a kid would have a lot of fun with it. The different scenarios are imaginative enough too.

That being said, there are probably still better games you could give to a 10 year old. Ultimately, in my eyes, it's definitely a fine game, but it's just that. Fine. Nothing more, nothing less.

I played this game only during meetings at work and somehow it still bored me more or less as much as the meetings themselves.
If there will be any sequel, I hope they will focus only on some costumes because everything felt too gimmicky and some costumes were straight up boring and/or uninteresting (mhm baker and detective for instance).
Peach in her games: I am gonna slay everything
Peach in most of the Mario games: hehe guess I'll die
I know I am not the main target of this game but man do I feel old.

É um jogo bem fácil, o maior desafio apresentado é ter que refazer às vezes pra pegar todas as estrelas, mas você pega 95% das estrelas na primeira vez que tu faz a fase.

essentially the video game equivalent of that one south park production story about how trey and matt made an entire episode centered around baseball just bc they thought the idea of the cast in baseball uniforms was cute. princess peach as a cowgirl or a pastry chef is rlly rlly cute and it does kind of seem like the devs and artists behind this came up w cute looks for peach before actually designing the levels or their structure,,, and that’s perfectly fine w me lolol. idk obsessed w how often mario games mess w artifice and play in rlly cool ways,, possibly some of the better meta design elements in pop-game philosophy. cool stuff I love tonya harding princess peach,,, apjvff Ass game

personally I think more games should be eight hours long and allow u to wear cowprint dress and also only use one action button idk !!
