Decent rhythm game junk food. Good for a few hours but ultimately unsatisfying and not leaving a lasting impression. Songs and beatmaps are decent and short enough to not be annoying. Core gameplay is alright but everything added on top like the battles and trap doors hurt the experience while adding very little. The graphics are cute, the story and humor are very hit & miss, mostly the latter for me. Overall you can certainly do worse to get your quick rhythm gaming fix but it is far from a mustplay.

silly funky sprout knight go brrrrrrr
one of my biggest surprises of 2023 by far. I love rhythm games bit I'm also sadly not that great at video games so I really like Rhythm Sprout's stance on the matter of the difficulty of its gameplay : the bases are extremely simple but, if you wanna see everything the game has to offer, you'll have to work up for it. it doesn't exactly mean i was up for the challenge (that second to last level in the prequel campaign and all the extras BEAT MY ASS) but boy had i fun completing the game.
i don't know why but i got charmed by this cutesy food themed world, the simplicity and effectiveness of the artstyle juxtaposed to how both nonchalant and intense the writing and the jokes get creates a peculiar tone that honestly truly feels like its own. also the soundtrack has nothing but good tracks with some good variety thrown into the mix to make levels distinct enough. replayability is also on point with modifiers if you wanna spice your game up.
only thing kinda holding back the game is that my hand would hurt a lot after play sessions but that's probably more on me tha anything else. please play Rhythm Sprout if you can!!

Rhythm Sprout is an awful, awful game, except for the part where you're actually playing it. The difficulty curve, pacing, and writing (oh god the writing) are pretty abysmal. It lands exactly two solid jokes over its entire runtime but attempts hundreds. But it's a game that clearly understands how to map a song, and it does so on a soundtrack that's pretty enjoyable, if a little forgettable.

I played a pre-release demo of it a little over a year ago, and one of my fears back then is that the trashy jokes would be all over the full release which frustratingly turned out to be true.

I was ready to love this because it seems so rare to find a fun rhythm game that isn't about J-pop, or EDM, or rock, and Rhythm Sprout's song list is very eclectic, but the writing paired with the very inconsistent difficulty, with some songs becoming incredibly challenging out of nowhere then back to manageable, makes me not want to recommend it to others.

great game but unfortunately I suck at rhythm games which made some stage like power peppers absolute torture infact that made myself question why I decided to play this in the first place... oh yeah the art style looks great and I love indie games :D

A rhythm game lives by its soundtrack. And I feel the music in this game is a bit unexciting and bland. Which is too bad, because the art is very nice.

pretty much has everything a good rhythm game needs
the gameplay is simple but fun, and the music is good, better than I was expecting tbh
the more difficult stages and extra challeges you unlock after beating them adds to the replay value

the "story" is very silly, but more in an annoying way than a fun way, i found myself wanting to skip the cutscenes pretty often

Decent little rhythm game with some funny dialogue and references sprinkled through its self aware silly storyline that ultimately had a few too many irksome issues which prevented it from being as enjoyable as other games in the genre that I've played recently. The visuals are vibrant, the music is pretty good (though not something I'd listen to outside of the game,) and the story was funny. My issue is that the difficulty climbs up and down rather quickly and randomly, and missing a note is a little too disruptive causing you to miss entire chains if you hit one wrong button.

I can't recommend this, especially with a much better game in Melatonin having come out just a few months beforehand.

Cute little rhythm game! The visuals are cute and the writing is often hilarious, but the actual rhythm game parts are a bit eh. The soundtrack's a mixed bag and the gameplay's a little off. Still had a great time overall, though.

Just a run of the mill lane rhythm game, with some decent jokes and several less-than-decent jokes throughout the main story. Only 3 buttons, but some stages are deceptively difficult. I'm not really all that tempted to keep playing for high scores.

I haven't actually watched Lord of the Rings since the mid aughts.

Rhythm Sprout has excellent style, humor, and music. What more could you want in a rhythm game? The mechanics of the gameplay aren't anything new for rhythm games, but I think it executes the "Taiko no Tatsujin" kind of gameplay better than any other games I've played. It also offers a lot of replayability with its turbo-speed and randomized level options. Pick it up for a very fun 3-4 hours clearing the levels, plus however long you want to spend getting achievements and full combos!

Great soundtrack, good difficulty, though some of these tracks I can definitely see how it would turn people off from even trying to keep going and a hilarious story that I didn't expect made this a gem of 2023.

Feels like Parappa's Scandinavian zoomer son with a Beatmania influence.
Notably the only rhythm game I've ever played where the track is sequenced to loop if you don't FC which is rly interesting and makes a lot more sense for the bosses but makes actual stages end pretty anticlimactically.

The humor is very "love it or hate it" depending on your tolerance for what feels like a mildly modernized version of the late 00s-early 2010s let's play scene, the charm of it alone never made it cringeworthy though and there are some legit good bits in there.

For a game that looks this newcomer-friendly though, the skill ceiling does extend pretty far, about on par with Parappa 2 when you factor in the unlockable harder difficulty. It's incredibly generous with its health system but making mistakes at all (including any inputs that aren't on a note) obstructs your view and it's probably very easy to panic if you're not used to games like this.

This and the prequel sidestory took a swift 2.5 hours which if it appeals to you enough I'd say it's worth the full $15, 100% would def take at least 10 hours assuming you're more consistent with your fixation on rhythm games than me lol

Pretty Rad. I do not have the drive to get gud but I'm glad I played it.

This game is the definition of just havin fun totally recommend this game if you a fan of parappa the rapper since it's got sum really random an goofy stuff an is got this corny energy too it that the parappa games have idk how to explain it also music pretty solid too obvi since is a rythm game

Who doesn't want to commit genocide with some funky beats?

Nice rhythm game with a funny story. Some levels are pretty hard (specially the prequel)

The gameplay itself is fantastic - just 3 inputs means you're testing your agility straight away rather than just getting used to the controls. The charts are pretty good as well - there are some oddities, but it's a nice balance between sticking to enjoyable basics and finger twisters.

The music sometimes dips too far into goofy territory and it changes gears way too much without proper setup (like moving to another key without transition chords), but it's generally good and even when I didn't love it, it still did its best to hit hard, which is the most important in a rhythm game.

The main problem with the game is that it just doesn't get hard enough, and it's especially easy at the start. Sure, you do unlock a Turbo mode (and a random note modifier), but the game doesn't give you any motivation to play through all of the songs in that mode, so you won't even be able to tell which songs you've 100%ed on Turbo from the stats in the menu. Big waste.

Second issue is that it feels a little short. I think it's still tied to difficulty - the game starts off too easy, but when it throws some challenges towards you, it runs out of content. It took me 5.5 - 6 hours to 100% it including all but two achievements. I skipped the last pair because they're tied to repeatedly watching the cutscenes.

I know it's not a simple conversion, but I wish the cinematics were mostly cut in favour of at least a few more extra tough songs.

These are "I wish the game was great" gripes, not "the game isn't very good" type complaints. It's still fun and worth playing if it's your vibe, including people who aren't experienced with rhythm games.
Works better with a keyboard than a gamepad, but the latter is still fine with the possible exception of a couple of levels in turbo mode.

A great and fun rhythm game with an addicting soundstrack, charming story and funny visuals. Only real downside is how the game suddenly gets very hard.

My thoughts:
(+ = (mostly) positive; - = (mostly) negative)
+ Gameplay;
Addicting and fun. Caught myself replaying some levels because of how nice the beat felt with the notes you had to tap. As mentioned before, sadly the game suddenly gets very hard when you're at the halfway point. it gets so hard (for me atleast), that it took away a lot of the joy I had. The first half of the game is like 9/10, second half 3/10.

++ Music;
The music is very good, which is very important for a game like this. Almost all levels have fun tunes you want to listen to again and again. it also has a nice variation of songs. I'd recommend not listening to it before playing the game.

+- Graphics;
I like the visuals, it fits my taste. Other than that it's not really something special. Skins could be better.

+ Story/Characters;
Game has an actual funny story and funny characters. lots of visual gags and silly faces. Game might be a bit on the short side.

Recommend?
Yes if you're into rhythm games. If you're not into them yet I'd recommend playing rhythm paradise first.

overall fun rhythm game.

perfect length, great concept, banging tracks, unique charting in places too.

cutscenes/dialogue make me wanna tear my hair out, difficulty isn't very consistent, weirdly little customisation options.

Fun, short, little, indie rhythm game with absurd humour and catchy songs. But it's pretty ruthless when it comes to reaching the high score.

mt bom e gostosinho, ost muito boa
