SMB has problems with reading inputs, which may spoil your succesful attempts to beat levels, but otherwise the game is really pleasant and challenging with so much content to see.

I don’t have the patience for this type of game usually. But Super Meat Boy had me perfecting the Fly Guy secret levels for HOURS.

Few games have made me feel the level of pride I felt when I finally beat Super Meat Boy. The platforming in this game is absolutely insane. Every press of the button has to be precise. Your reaction time almost perfect. It leaves no room for error. I died A LOT; again and again. Some levels were worse than others. What feels to me like masochistic game design usually leaves me abandoning a game quite quickly, but I was racing a friend while playing this. The competition kept me committed and I'm glad I stuck with it. I'll always feel accomplished saying I managed to beat Super Meat Boy, and even more so knowing that I won the race against my friend too.

Very challenging, one of my favorite platformers.
I wanted to give this game a serious chance but I was frustrated by it rather quickly. I absolutely see the charm in this game but after about half an hour, I thought I had enough :D I don't feel like picking it up again.

Super Meat Boy is part of the Newgrounds "flash game that became a massive commercial hit" collection. So it's essentially a browser game with extra development and polish. The story is a complete nothingburger, the music is meh, and annoyingly repetitive in later stages where you are doing attempt after attempt. But the fundamental gameplay mechanics and level design are both very good, going for a very hard, but very short level, with great controls, intentionally difficult but fair level design, and very fast resets. I'm happy for it to sit among my 2D platformers in company of games such as nSMB(s), Rayman Legends and DK Tropical Freeze, a testament to just how good this game is, for what it is.
I bought it for $2.15aud, it goes down to this price on steam pretty much ever major sale, so buy it then. Well worth at that price. Otherwise, it is not worth the full $21.5.
