Outstanding blend of humor and horror, surprisingly good at building tension and has quite a few great scares! The writing is super fun and dialogue doesn't outstay its welcome, and the levels are all so very unique.
Does a lot with very few and simple mechanics (mostly just picking up stuff and throwing it) by implementing them in very creative ways.

When I saw this, I thought "this is 100% my type of game", and well, this is probably one of the best games i've ever played and i'm not even joking. All characters are AMAZING, has a great humor and still manages to scare you a lot of times, the ost is really cool, graphically and artistically is great and really unique, and the story is really confusing and ends really open, but man, IT'S INCREDIBLE. In level desing sometimes does some weird things, but you never feel bored playing. And man, 8 EUROS MAN BUY IT RN, if u liked Lethal Company this is basically where a lot of ideas came, LC is like a The Upturned online. So yeah, buy it asap, this is great.
(Tbh I didn't found something bad in this game, just things like how the story ends, the spam of escaping a lot of spammed enemies that wasn't a problem for me bc didn't feel repetitive, or things like Shrimp isn't real. But in general, it's perfect, at least for me.)

This is the first time in a while I've laughed at a game that was actually trying to make me laugh (though that didn't last the entire runtime). Honestly this would've made a great show on cartoon network or something. The artstyle and music are such a vibe and the horror sections are very creative and go hard as well. I definitely ran into a few glitches here and there and I wish there was a little more variety than just the pick and throw physics/platforming gameplay. They also introduce some really interesting enemies later but just for one floor which is too bad but overall I had a blast.
A lovely little horror comedy game with lots of unexpected moments! Gameplay is simple and effective, a perfect vehicle for a lot of variety. It's fun to grab any objects in my vicinity and throw them at anything to get by, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Story is also surprisingly compelling, I wanted to see where it was going. Presentation is excellent, with charmingly janky animations and mix of elements that come together so well. I highly suggest giving this game a shot, it's a wonderful little game.
Absolutely loved it. It's inventive with its tool set and keeps thing moving while pacing its drip-fed of story pretty well. Nothing over stays its welcome and it manages to give you surprises all the way up (or down?).
All while being just adorably funny with a bit of light-hearted cynicism sprinkled in and wrapped in a solid atmosphere akin to an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

An absolute hidden gem that blends comedy and horror masterfully. With it's atmosphere and physics based gameplay I find it easy to describe as "if valve made a horror game".
Each level is extremely varied in both design and appearance, with new enemies that change the way you play showing up constantly. It manages to induce severe panic in the player without feeling frustrating, a feat easier said than done. Do yourself a favor and try it out, I have a feeling it will blow up in popularity soon.

Watched a playthrough of it as I'm too much of a wuss to play horror games myself, but I do genuinely want to play this myself sometime because it is such an incredible game that I think is wayyy too underrated. The blend of humour and horror is so good, the story gets shockingly sincere and i miss Ik every day. i miss him.
The Upturned was an enjoyable experience. The game off the start screws with you and lets you toy around with stuff.
The "puzzles" are logical and some have different approaches how you engage them. You throw stuff all the time, you rip doors off, you flip switches by throwing objects at them.
For its story, it keeps a mystery from the player to learn what's going on and how you died, thus keeping the player engaged with it. As well you know exactly how far you are from the end of the game with its writing. I found the story flawed and the ending odd but it doesn't end on a cliff-hanger, it just ends. The music welcomed its stay.
The most note worthy of the game is the consistency, how you throw and what to expect from the enemies or levels, the goal is always exactly the same. The only time something new is introduced is gliding and its only used once. My only annoyance was how the camera behaved sometimes, the mannequins getting in the way and Vsync option not working correctly on first try (can overheat the GPU).
I wish the game had levels that were entirely goofy or complete serious to mix things up. Notably the game would of benefitted if there was more things to make side-tracking rewarding.
I can't recommend this game on it's own, you'd have to some what like multiple of its aspects like comedy, puzzling, horror. For example, I can recommend Portal series to someone who likes puzzles but not to someone who only likes comedy. The comedy for portal 2 is an added bonus, not something it relies on.
