Odd changes that did alter how the game went, but the gameplay was fun nontheless, ost didn't bang tho.

Seamless experience but lost the charm of the series.

Dijeron que no podían romper más al Free Range y se lo tomaron como reto los hijos de puta

significant fall off due to some weird changes but this series went fucking crazy i would kill for a revival of this series

As a big fan of the games on the mighty Sega Genesis/Mega Drive the franchise makes the similar mistakes like V on Saturn and goes out with a whimper. Even with the harder difficulty settings it is still an easy and a short game especially for a 6th gen console. You can unlock 2 more ships and they play all differently so that is a nice addition. But unfortunately there is not much to keep me coming back here.

Much stronger stage design than V but no drip - you can't have limp sound in a Thunder Force game, man!!

A love letter to the Thunder Force series with all the callbacks and a couple genuinely cool moments, shame that it feels half-baked though. Stages ended in a blink of an eye, playing it on harder difficulties only made it worse and pretty much unfun, despite it making the stages last slightly longer. It feels more like a tech demo for a supposed Thunder Force VI, which has a novelty to it if you want to enjoy the spectacle. I think Thunder Force VI has an appeal to it that emerges outside of the game itself, with the development history. The cancellation of the version on Dreamcast titled Broken Thunder with the amazing unreleased soundtrack from Hyakutaro Tsukumo, the Doujin game with the same title that literally used music from that unreleased soundtrack, and especially how Sega and Twenty-one Company(who acquired Technosoft) developed this, it's all fascinating.

Seamless experience but lost the charm of the series.

Probably the worst game in the series (aside from the first of course). The graphics look okay, but the presentation, sound, and animation create the impression of a budget title, which is extremely unfortunate considering the pedigree of this series. The biggest issue here is that it's simply boring and unchallenging for a game of this genre (and this series in particular), and coupled with a short runtime, this leaves an underwhelming and unmemorable impression once you've completed it.

Any other game in this series from 2 onwards is leaps and bounds more imaginative and fun, so it's a real shame that this was the swan song (for now) of this otherwise stellar series. Play one of those instead.

A truly great shmup. Quite forgiving to be honest, so it is easier to travers it's intricate and grandiose levels. Almost every weapon has a function (and there are 5!!), and adjusting the speed can be tricky at first, but once it settles it is a JOY to play
