i used to not think this was the sickest game of all time, boy what a fuckin idiot i used to be huh

good butts too

I'm taking out half a star because I find the character named 'V' not only a shitty plot device (who the hell didn't saw that coming?) but also a shitty character to play as. The level design can be really repetitive too.

But, to this day I keep coming back to the Bloody Palace, months and months after release. The gameplay just towers above any of this game's failures. It's just that good.

The Good:
+ Superb gameplay. I dare to say it's one of the best of any action game I've played.
+ Amazing and challenging boss fights.
+ Enemies and bosses have unique mechanics that brings some depth to every fight.
+ Allow for different routes at some points
+ Three unique characters with different play styles
+ Good OST
+ Customization
+ References to previous Devil May Cry
+ Accessibility through providing many Yellow Orbs. Use if you wish.
+ You can control the camera
+ High replay value

The Bad:
- The story is pretty bad. They waste so much time going back to show how things escalated that in the end it goes nowhere. It's also too predictable.
- Characterization doesn't come near DmC 3. Some characters are pretty disposable and doesn't impact the game at all
- Playing V is so safe it gets too easy
- The environments get repetitive
- Inexistent level design. It's too straightforward for its own good: no real puzzles, platforming or anything that could bring more diversity to the table.
- IMO toned down character design
- Repetitive and uninteresting "puzzles". They're too simplistic to their own good.
- You can't choose the character you want to play on every mission
- Strange difficulty spikes

The Ugly:
The story constantly rewinding. Definitely destroyed the pacing and any chance of progression

talvez seja o melhor dmc, salvo pelas fases c/ o v

Might complete it one day, idk. Lots of fun but also very long and repetitive.

Despite following the main continuity of DMC, it feels like a fresh take on the series. The combat is unnecessarily fun, and the only thing that I could really list that I disliked about the game was camera angles in certain segments.

Love the camp, love the combat, love that the story has a sense of basic coherence and isn't a total clusterfuck, really there's just a lot to love here.

The legendary franchise returns, made all the more stylish by the power modern gaming has to offer. Outstanding combat styles but weaker story.

Plays the best of any game in the series. While the V segments are good on their own, they are not what I want from the game. Certain narrative beats are great, but the overall story feels very secondary (just as in the other DMC games.)

um 4.5 pela gameplay preguiçosa do V

This game is so fucking cool. If you watched the opening scene where Nero's killing all those bug things and weren't hype, then I'm going to assume you're the guy in your friend group that everybody dunks on cause you're such a schmole. This game is fun. When I hit a guy he doesn't just die, he has his insides torn out by two motorcycle swords. Combat is masterfully crafted. In this game your moves feel like they've got some real weight behind them, and the desire to string moves along to build up combos makes you feel like a real badass. Each of the 3 characters have unique and upgradeable skill sets, and while some may prefer some characters over others, I found all 3 to be pretty fun. The only part of this game that sucks is when it's not letting me be a badass, like during these awful loadtimes or when it needs to remind me on the second to last level what a blue orb is. Also the whole Gold Orb situation and paying for power is kinda lame, but their completely optional and I don't think impact the games in any seriously negative ways. This game is the ultimate power fantasy, and if you like action games you've either already played this game, or you're a schmole.

Good action combat, good graphics and sound design, but everything else falls flat, weak story, poor worldbuilding, boring characterization. gets half the score for the combat and the visuals.
5/10

I picked this up after loving DmC so much. I guess I should have done more research because it's a completely different game. It never really clicked with me the way DmC did. Oh well.

papa itsuno saves the franchise, part 2

More or less the best character action game ever made.

Doesn't have quite the endless depth of DMC3, but it's combat system is so much cleaner and more refined, with the most insane variation of Dante to date. V's style is probably not to everyones taste, and it took me awhile to get used to myself, but it was refreshing seeing Nero finally come into his own gameplay wise instead of being the context sensitive button masher he was prior.

The camera is better than 3's or 4's, but not by much, though, and the microtransactions on release put a bad taste in my mouth. But whatever. Great game.

Granted this is the only DMC I've ever finished but the only thing stopping this from being the best in the series is lack of playable Vergil, Trish, and Lady imho (and that the latter two only show up to job to the former and Be Nude which, hey, I'm gay as shit and here for it but c'mon lol).

AND THIS BIG DICKED MAN ITSUNO, SWUNG HIS GIANT COCK ONTO THE CEO'S DESK AND SAID

"IM THE CEO NOW. GET OUT."

polished action, great visuals, and a solid soundtrack. need to play more of it though, never got the chance to run it on higher difficulties
