Fortnite is becoming Roblox, in the sense that it's a platform to host various experiences, and I'm actually all for it lol. Aside from the OG season, I haven't had much interest playing Fortnite as of late, so this has been really cool alternatives that still enable me to make use of all the skins I've accumulated over my "prime" years on the game.
Lego Fortnite is cool, it's basically Minecraft but all your skins turn into Lego versions (some skins don't work, which kinda sucks; either because they're "too violent" and not for kids, or because they haven't had enough time to make every Fortnite skin compatible with the mode yet. Some skins have "low-detail" generic appearances).
Fortnite Festival is really cool, a lot of the songs are charted well. The bass solo on Kendrick Lamar - i is really fun to pull off on Hard mode. The Weeknd's songs are well-charted as well. Default controls aren't great, so rebind to ASDF from DFJK if possible. Expert increases the amount of lanes to the traditional five-lane charts found in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
Rocket Racing is also surprisingly well-designed. I'm slowly climbing in ranked so I can unlock the skin you get for reaching Gold and not only are the tracks fun, but the matchmaking is solid too. Once I was out of Bronze, I felt like I was being matched against people that took decent effort to beat, and your rank gains are fair given the challenge. I played maybe 16 games of mostly 1st place wins got me to Silver II, so you rank up fairly fast all things considered. People can get REALLY sweaty in this game mode, and that makes it kind of unfun, but that's to be expected in a game type that encourages being the best in your lobby to outrace everyone. I'm sure Bronze players felt the same way about me going fast enough to pass the guy in last place, so if you enjoy the competition and don't get annoyed easily by not being good, this one's fun.
After having played the BR this season, I have to say, aside from the humor found in there being a Peter Griffin boss fight, it's not great. I'm not sure if it's just me being burnt out on these kinds of BR shooters now, but I probably won't be playing BR again until they bring back the Ch. 1 map as a perm game mode. In the meantime, these extra experiences are a great way of quickly levelling up in a low-stress way.

In early 2019 when the Minecraft revival started, I never ever expected the same thing to happen to Fortnite, a game that was lambasted as a "cringe clickbait kids game" far more than Minecraft. From 2021-22 I treated it as a 'guilty pleasure' that I pretended I didn't put 100s of hours into. It was interesting, however, to see a slight bit of positivity for the game when Dragon Ball and Zero Build were added. A year after that, Fortnite Season OG became the perfect setup for getting the game back into internet culture, as people flocked to the game for the nostalgia (ironically, the internet started to hate on Fortnite while the Chapter 1 Map was still live).
Chapter 5, to my surprise, has kept the hype train going. Ever since late October my feed has been filled with Fortnite memes. Now, with a map way better than Chapter 4, and the 3 new game modes, Fortnite is turning itself into a viral Roblox-esque platform. The new modes are interesting for about 5 seconds and are more basic versions of existing games. Still, it's nice to see people not shitting on the game anymore. Peter Griffin Fortnite 10/10
Season 2 edit: Item shop has been ass this whole chapter and I'm convinced Lego Fortnite is a factor. Also it's really funny that they gave up on the season theme in two weeks and replaced the loot pool with Avatar/Star Wars lmao

the solid snake skin has singlehandedly pulled me back into fortnite and i'm glad it did because this shit is very fun, there's so many cool additions, i like gun customization the most cause me likie guns :)
it's great to have lego fortnite as a secondary mode to dump big time into along with BR, and the other modes serve well to cool off after a while on the important ones
fortnite is so back

Fortnite Chapter 5. They changed the game more than ever before, and I know the series needs to move forward, but damn do I miss OG. Weapon modding and riot shields were two things I was GLAD Fortnite didn't have. The AI bosses and bots are super annoying. Medallions are stupid as well. The map is pretty good, but I'm still learning about it. The movement is way worse than before, which I thought Chapter 4 perfected. Chapter 5 could be worse, but the Battle Royale leaves a lot left to be desired. 5/10
I reinstalled this game for the first time since early chapter 2 entirely because they added my sweet angel Peter Griffin as a playable skin. And to my suprise not only did they add Peter himself, but also the iconic Petercopter, Peters' dapper black tie suit, an additional cosmetic that shows Family Guy clips on the player's back AND you can find Peter during a match, kill him (Sadly this step is important as much as I wish it was avoidable) whereupon Mr Griffin will clutch his knee and breath a deep sigh of pain, referencing the incredible Family Guy joke which needs no introduction. Truly gaming does not get better than this.
cant fully rate this one because im stuck on cloud gaming with a deck controller but i do really like what ive seen. battle pass is really good, the new jonesy is absolutely amazing. tmnt in week 2 is a great collab already spent all my leftover vbucks from when i forgot to unsub from crew on donny.
The bosses being a lot easier for a nifty little reward and permanent glowing target on your back is definitely nice but nothing will beat hitting darth vader with a bus and your duos shooting him with a cannon midair only for him to kill you with that same bus by throwing you at it repeatedly when you get out to actually damage him.

Pretty great season honestly. The Italo map is up there with the strongest the game has ever had, I don't even mind that I'm playing it on max settings and hitting 40fps because it's worth the lumens. Not keen on mods as someone who thinks games keen out too much on firearms as is, and all its implementation here really accomplishes is making half of the sniper rifle drops useless. The medallions are cool because they’re something of a bluffing game. Is this dude carrying the medallions around because he’s a huge badass who can handle multiple players knowing where he is on the map, or is he just an incompetent iPad 9 year old being kept alive by the stock market value of Peter Griffin Coin. I know the additions of Rocket Racing, Lego Fortnite & Festival are technically counted as entirely new standalone games but it's funnier to consider them as just little distractions/cooldowns for after you and your friends have wrapped up a Battle Royale sesh. Like when it comes down to it the Harmonix skeleton crew created a gamemode that is no better than an Only Up obstacle course map. Rly fun, I've been strapped into the Tim Sweeney metaverse electric chair since 2017 and I don't see myself breaking free any time soon, why should I when the Butter Barn's got butter plate specials that'll treat ya right?
While the season is yet to conclude, I feel like sharing my thoughts, having hit level 103 in the current pass.
This season, all of the game mode additions have been a blessing to take a break from the far more competitive and often annoying shenanigans in the basic battle royale. While the collaborations, loot pool, map design, and traversal have seen major improvements from the OG season, the number of sweaty players compared to other seasons makes it hard for me to want to keep playing the solo zero build mode (where I spend most of my time) compared to other seasons. It's still fun to run around and cause mayhem in the battle royal, but this season's massive popularity increases the number of people with wild skill gaps from a majority of players. Never have I had so many subsequent games where I am not even finishing in the top 75 players unless I have at least one other friend to try and coordinate with.
As much as I whine about my "skill issues" and the like, I will continue to play especially to get my boy Solid Snake despite the fact they ROBBED him of his dummy thicc ass just like Omni Man, Leon Kennedy, and many more sexy boys before him.
