While I do hate RTWP, the greatness of this game is undeniable. The definition of ahead of its time.

I enjoyed Baldur’s Gate a lot—I feel like I need to replay the game to really collate my thoughts on it, though, especially given how dense it is. Definitely recommend, however.

Made by and for AD&D sickos, which means the combat is entirely weightless while also being mostly chaotic bullshit if you aren't playing the Literal Invincibility Mode added by the new versions. The story works just fine, and you can see the early prototypes for the BioWare formula that would be iterated on in KOTOR 1 and perfected in the Mass Effect games, but it's pretty barebones in terms of, y'know, actual roleplaying. Here's hoping the sequel's better?

This game is really great, but it hadn't quite hit the heights of Baldur's Gate 2 yet. The combat was always the weakest part of these games, but lower level AD&D feels less annoying than higher level play, making it slightly less annoying here than in 2 atleast.

One of my favorite games.

The game faithfully brought the world of the Forgotten Realms using 2nd edition D&D rules.

This low level adventure uses a Real Time with Pause combat system that is extremely tactical. At the start of the game a lone wolf can easily dispatch a character in one hit.

As you level up you will have the opportunity to take on stronger opponents.

There is a good story here, but it is a lengthy game that rewards exploration so it is a slow burn.

The isometric view is perfect to show off the hand drawn backgrounds.
