Reviews from

in the past

When I first put together this list of games I wanted to replay at some point, I thought of tossing in Portal 2 as well, I mean, it had been over 10 years (god I'm fucking old...) since I had last played through it. At this point, I must have forgotten how to solve at least a big part of it... right...? RIGHT...?

Well, in the first 2 hours or so I realized that, when it comes to hyperfixations I had in the past, my brain is better at preserving information about them better than I actually thought, because I found myself going from puzzle to puzzle with relative swiftness, with only a couple of them in the late game giving me trouble. So, why did I stay?

Because if there's something I didn't quite remember as well, was the humor being so phenomenal, it's great to see that after all these years, the comedy of this game still stands up to this day. Specially since this time around I caught on some jokes that as a kid pretty much flew over my head, like think about it for a moment, working for someone like Cave Johnson is like talking to a friend that always replies to you with the nerd emoji when you tell them something, the guy was a walking PR nightmare.

To anyone going for their first playthrough, you are in for a delightful experience, and I hope you enjoy solving these amazing puzzles while breathing in the amazing atmosphere of the game... unless you are breathing the asbestos of underground Aperture, in that case... I'm sorry about your lungs lol

I never played portal 1 but I remember trying Portal 2 years ago, completing it and thinking it was a good time. Just the other day, I decided to give it back a shot and..... OMG I have no idea what I was missing.
When it comes to videogames that are considered "perfect" by the masses, most of the time that definition can feel kind of overused: most title that a lotta people consider perfect are not my perspnal cup of tea.

Not in this case: Portal 2 deserves all of the praises it gets.
It starts without wasting your time, presenting an experience that perfectly mixes creative puzzle solving with physics that feel revolutionary to this day.
Glados, Wjeatley and any other minor NPC have such and amazing writing that you will warm up to them in no time, and a stpry that is able to narrative of a dystopic dark reality while also being extremely goody and enjoyable. You want to stay tp see what these frealy machines will say to you, or how the facility that kept Chell slowly unwraps its own secrets.

It's an amazong game that doesn't stop there: other than the campaign you got a fantastic coop mode (the little I played of it was enough to male it feel fantastic) that links to the main story, and one of the best level creation ever made.
The game is not that long, mostly slowed dpwn by some pf the tougher pizzles, but every second of this experience is enjoyable and absplitely worth it.

Portal 2 is a masterpiece. Everyone should give a shot to this one.

Meu irmão e eu salvamos a ciência! A campanha coop do jogo é bem boa e tem uns puzzles divertidos de se resolver em dupla. Assim como a campanha principal, recomendo pra qualquer um!
Agora sim estou pronto pro Portal 3!

Must play game for anyone who plays video games. Portal 2 is over a decade old and it still holds up as one of the best video games of all time, if you haven't played it then go buy it now and play through it. You will not regret it

This is a follow up review from after I finished the game. Right where it belongs, in my top 5. This game was nearly perfect, but was dragged down by performance issues. Other than that it’s amazing. Wheatley’s fight was a good challenge, the chambers in the past were actually really challenging, I want an incendiary lemon grenade now, and the comedy was really strong. I don’t think you can spoil a 13 year old game, so I can say that the turret choir really caught me off guard, and not to mention the animal king turret from one animation that played outside a test chamber from the very beginning of the game was a nice surprise. Next step would be the large scale mods such as portal revolution.

it took me 4 years to beat this

Ainda preciso terminar ele. Por enquanto é muito cedo para tirar uma conclusão, mas é bem divertido, principalmente jogando cooperativo online ou tela dividida.

my friend got more science collaboration points than me so i had to blast his head off with a cube laser

Pega tudo do primeiro jogo e faz elevado a 10. ESTUPIDAMENTE BOM ESTE JOGO, INCRIVEL, MARAVILHOSO, LINDO LINDO LINDO LINDO.

Ele conseguiu melhorar TUDO do primeiro T U D O.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.

gladdos became an amazing character

Top 10 game of all time. Incredible writing. Improved upon an already perfect game.

One of the best gaming experiences i ever had. Runs on a potato too.

One of the greatest games of all time.

An upgrade from the original in every way possible. The humor and back and forth from the main characters had me constantly chucking, the puzzles were more innovative and much more fun to figure out. I love these characters and the mystery of Aperture Labs that you start to unravel as the game goes on.

I can’t believe I waited this long to play these games, and I will definitely be revisited them in the future. I can see why this is regarded as one of the greats!

Video game sequels must be an improvement of everything that the first game did, and Portal 2 is one of the biggest examples of it. It took everything good on the first game and did it even better, at the same time, avoided all the mistakes of its predecessor.

The graphics have aged very well, the textures, the water, the art direction, everything is more beautiful than the previous game. the environments are more varied, you go through the classic test chambers and the gaps between them, seeing how the aperture laboratories work. you will also have moments where you will explore the old aperture facilities and learn more about its history.

The puzzles remain extremely creative and fun, becoming more difficult as the game progresses. They added more mechanics to the game, such as a liquid that increases Chell's jump, another liquid that increases your speed and a type of technology that allows she and objects to float.

the soundtrack in Portal 2 is better and more present, with futuristic electronic music tracks that match perfectly with the game's atmosphere. Just like the first game, this one also has a great song in the end credits.

Now the game has three active characters interacting with you, Wheatley, GLaDOS and Cave Johnson. They are all extremely charismatic and funny. Character interactions add a lot to the game's story.

If the first game was short and suffered from a lack of content, Portal 2 definitely doesn't make the same mistake. The game has a longer, more challenging campaign, as well as a fun multiplayer mode with lots of new stages to complete with a friend.

This game is incredible, one of my favorite games of all time. I definitely recommend it to everyone that likes puzzle games.

One of the greatest games ever. Improved upon the already very good original in every sense- better puzzles and funnier dialogue, and a longer game to enjoy it over. I absolutely loved the old Aperture Science levels in chapters 6-7, the condemned testing sites were a vibe and Cave Johnson is so fucking funny. It was also cool to learn who Glados actually is. The co-op mode is also fantastic. Not much else you could ask for from this game

Why I don't trust the British: The Game

Gameplay - 10/10
The puzzles are fun and can get quite challenging at times, which only makes them more fun. They are always new, apart from the first few that are the same to the first few Portal 1 levels, but that is on purpose and the levels have had quite a big visual change.

Story - 10/10
The story is very good and the characters are funny (specifically Wheatley, who is voiced by Stephen Merchant). The story has a nice twist in the middle and some comedic humour added in at the correct times. The levels and puzzles are twisted nicely into the story and actually have relevance.

Co-op - 7/10
The co-op experience is good and its the only game that me and my friend like consistently playing (at the time of writing).

Performance - 10/10
I could probably run this on a Microsoft Surface Tablet thing as my friend ran it on his 'craptop' as a consistent 20-30fps on low settings. But, I dunno what i expected tbh as its from 2011.

Graphics - 8/10
Not quite on par with games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Red Dead Redemption 2... obviously, bcoz its from 2011. But if Valve Release Portal 3 with these graphics today, i would be happy.

Overall, I recommend this game to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

- cool graphics
- funny story
- very good point for the logic that we must have to pass a level
- very fun
- refined

I think it is better than the first of the name, the same logic as portal 1, but more accomplished, more different and varied techniques.

Bring a friend and enjoy the most fun 3D puzzle game.

My favorite non-nintendo game ever prolly

Much like the first game, the story and humor are on point in Portal 2. Wheatley is a great counterpart for GLaDOS. The mechanics are substantially expanded from the first game with the various types of goo, and I enjoyed the variety of new puzzles that provided.

The intro to the game really drags on, though, with lots of incredibly easy puzzles and loading screens. I would have preferred if it jumped into more challenging puzzles much more quickly. I liked the general idea of the non-puzzle areas, but I did get a bit tired of hunting around for the little bit of wall that I could put a portal on.

Those are just minor complaints, though. While Portal 2 isn't necessarily a personal favorite, I can see why it's generally rated among the best games of all time.

funny little jokes here and there, more soulful than the first entry

THE GOAT THE GOAT THE GOAT THE GOAT

expands amazingly on the first game. plenty of story and entertaining puzzles. it feels like one of the essentials for any gamer(young or old)'s collection.

After 8 years I was finally able to play Portal 2 co-op with my best buddy. They carried despite never playing this game. I really need to get them to play the single player campaign. P-body and atlas are so sweet. This was more difficult than I was expecting it to be. I love silly robots, and mean ones.
