geralt carries this shit pretty hard. really great protagonist. His constant dryness often leads to pretty good humor and really makes the moments when he does show emotion hit that much harder. Story overall is really good, and there's a ton of fun and interesting side quests. Geralt and Ciri's relationship really steals the show, which is good considering it's the focal point of the main story. This goes for both DLCs, too. Hearts of Stone is a great smaller side story, with a fun villain in Master Mirror. Blood and Wine has so much content and gives Geralt some great closure. The combat is where it slightly falls apart, though. In most battles all I did was mash X until everyone was dead. Gets a little repetative after a while. I was also constantly overleveled due to doing all the side quests, so most encounters were fairly easy. Except that final boss in Blood and Wine, that dude sucks.

The story, writing, and characters carry some very eurojank-y gameplay. It's more fun to explore cities, track monsters, talk to people, and unravel mysteries than it is to actually fight stuff, to the point where I legit just used cheats so I could get on with the show. Geralt's dry wit and humanity, combined with Doug Cockle's iconic voice acting transform our Witcher into a legendary video game protagonist, and the supporting cast is similarly fantastic. Too bad about his Gwent addiction, though.

When geralt unsheathed his sword and said "it's witching time", I shat my pants

December 2023 I started replaying The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on death march difficulty. After more than 6 months of playing this game, I have finally completed the game with a total playtime of more than 145 hours, which includes the base game and the 2 major expansions, heart and stone and blood and wine. Even though the game has been out for over 9 years, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is such an incredible experience from start to finish. The game has so much content that it will keep you entertained for such a long time, and the game's greatest achievement, in my opinion, is how all of the game's content comes together to create a sense of scope and magic that very few open-world games manage to achieve. Visually, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is stunning to look at, with beautiful locations to explore, whether that's exploring the bustling streets of Novigrad or riding your horse across the bright and colorful European countryside of Toussaint. The music in this game is just outstanding, with so many memorable tracks to listen to while exploring the game. The Story is excellent with plenty of twist and turns during the main story even the quality of the side content is outstanding. The characters that you meet along the way during the game are fantastic the game makes you want to spend time and get too know them better.
The only negative thing is probably the combat is pretty basic even though there is plenty of variety in terms of different enemies you encounter during the course of the game. The controls are occasionally clunky especially heading into the games menu and while riding your horse across the open world.
