all time classic, beware the fast UFO's

A simple early arcade game with a satisfying difficulty progression, giving you ramps of tension followed by little moments to breathe. Not much to it, but it certainly set the stage for so much to come.

Simple and effective at what it does, but far surpassed since. Space Invaders is sort of the Seinfeld of arcade games: revelatory and groundbreaking at release, but everything in it has been done so much better by its successors that the original can seem a little too simplistic for its own good.

I mean its impact for the gaming industry is enough really,

Just play one or two screens. It's extremely easy, so it drags on and on, and gets boring very quickly. If you play a little it is quite fun though.
