I was in middle school when the first version of this game dropped and remembered everyone talking about the first person “L3 + R3” prompt with Poseidon at the beginning, so finally getting to play it for myself was a full circle moment

Also there are more nips in here than Mardi Gras in a beaded necklace factory

I'm not gonna lie, I haven't even beaten the game yet. But from what I've played? This is one of the best games to be ever made.
The combat is so simple yet so addicting, the story is so stupid yet engaging. The shots are so phenomenal and awe-inducing, this game genuinely has better direction than most mainstream movies right now. The kills??? Holy shit, so gruesome and awesome.
I've yet to beat the game because I knew I had to save my raw reactions to the latter half of it for a video, but my god is this game so good.

Great ending to the trilogy. Can’t wait to replay the Norse games.

crazy action and even crazier gore

A phenomenal crafted game a story of revenge and the results of it kratos in the end when trying to get vengeance for his family only caused more death and destruction and this game is truly why the new gow games Are so good its a perfect Segway into those games where we go from the vengeful powerful god to a suffering father a man trying to come to terms with his past actions that is why god of war is such a beautiful series and this game itself is just a triumph in storytelling and game design. Just quick end or review thing T.C. Carson and Christopher Judge are both such talented dudes they embody Kratos in such different points in his life and their so good at what they do anyway end of review these games are amazing.

A good finale for the original trilogy.
Smoothened up the combat a bit up again and cranked up the audio-visual prentation by a huge amount, especially for the bosses. The bosses also felt like the main focus of the game. So for me it felt like some segments between bosses fell a bit short and it seemed more like jumping from setpiece to setpiece. Still a very good experience.

But 1 or 2 dives less down or up the mountain also would have done it.

It is awesome, it is every arcade hack and slash gamers dream. It has great, huge scale boss battles with high stakes, quick and satisfying gameplay with a surprising emotional story bit to conclude the original God of War saga. I love going back to this game and playing through it simply because of how fun it is to destroy everything in your path.

It has aged really well. The last boss was tough.

Tonally bizarre with an ending I never liked, but great combat and amazing spectacle.

The fact that Kratos goes into a tantrum, killing literally everything in Greek Mythology,
Is the funniest thing.

This is a pretty mediocre remaster that adds little besides a new photo mode. Everything that looked good in the PS3 original still looks great, while some of the character models could've used an overhaul. I also encountered two minor graphical errors during my playthrough, although those might be due to the PS5 backwards compatibility mode.

Luckily, God of War 3 is still as much fun as it was on the PS3. Combat has a wonderful flow, the game is lengthy but without any filler content, and there's just so much variety here. The previous games left a surprising amount of gods and titans alive for Kratos to battle, which he does in a series of incredible set pieces, wielding a ton of different weapons.

However, what keeps me from fully recommending this game is the way it treats its female characters. The God of War games were always edgy, but to a point where it's so stupid you can't help but laugh. Ripping off a god's head to use as a flashlight is metal as fuck, and Kratos interrupting his quest for vengeance to sleep with Aphrodite has to be one of the dumbest QTEs ever.

Unfortunately, God of War 3 doesn't seem to know the word restraint. Roughly in the middle of the game, Kratos encounters a half naked and chained up woman. The game heavily implies that the woman has been abused and most likely raped by her former lover Poseidon. Kratos grabs the woman, shoves and throws her through half the level all while she screams for mercy, and ultimately ends up throwing her into a mechanism, crushing her to death - all of this to open a door btw. I don't mind Kratos being an edgelord, but the scene is never reflected upon and seems insanely cruel. I don't even want to imagine how female devs working at the studio felt when their superiors came up with this scene.

All in all God of War 3 is still fantastic game - just be aware what you're getting in terms of some of its more problematic content...

Honestly, this game plays and looks perfect on PS5. I still think my only real issue is the story. There are so many awesome moments, but the whole hope plot line and pandora's role feel meh.

For what I would like to call the black sheep of the Greek trilogy, it still holds up and hones down to a T the hack and slash gameplay. The buildup to the final game was great but the ending leaves much to be desired.

I believe that Kratos ended his life was due to thinking that if that "hope" was released into the world, it would lead to that peace and the end of all things but in the end it well it did nothing! I think that's such a crap shoot way to end a game. When I played the game in 2015 it didn't sit right with me and it still doesn't.
