I remember liking this one more

The quickest one I've gotten through because it's the simplest one as well. The final NES Mega Man does not innovate as much as its predecessors making it an entry that will not stick out in my mind as much.

For the most part, I have no qualms with how the levels are structured. There were hardly any times when I felt frustrated with the level design or the Robot Masters. This is partly due to the game being stuck on "Easy" mode for me while experiencing it. I am not sure how this difficulty compares to the original, but from my experience, it felt a little too generous. The few additions this entry includes are incorporating a few of Rush's abilities into different forms of your suit. There are also levels with multiple routes adding a sliver of replay ability especially if you want to unlock Beat as a companion again, though he is not nearly as powerful.

There is not much else to say. This one is wonderful to play but it doesn't stick out as much as previous entries. Not a bad game by any means but one that showcased it was time for the franchise to go in a new direction.
