and what if i said best pokemon game ive ever played kevin hart with his hands up jpeg

I like this game. The fact that they released it in such a buggy state is crazy. The fact that they proceeded to release 2 DLCs without bug fixes is crazy. Like unforgiveable kinda crazy, even Cyberpunk didn't do that and that's saying a lot because they systematically torture their workers.

But it's fun. I think it's maybe a warning sign that they shouldn't split up their workforce to work on two games at one time, though I do admittedly think it's kind of funny that Legends came out working and feeling great and then this came out and good god. It's funnier because a lot of the things people think are bugs are just design choices to make sure the game actually runs.

I'm talking about the performance a lot because I just think the game is good. Not as good as Legends, but the fact that they decided to actually try something non-standard with this one and it kind of worked was really cool for a series that only ever wanted to change when the writers were...well, the writers of Legends. I like the sandwich making, it feels a lot more fun and fresher than the food-related minigames in pokemon's past, the music in this game is some of my favorite in the series, like it's crazy that it took this long for us to get multiple wild battle themes but they did it.

I admittedly did sort of play with my own restrictions but they made the game a lot more fun for me. Putting off beating it but I've already logged so many hours ALSO OH MY GOD

OHHHH MY GOD PAWMI PAWMO ARE THE CUTEST WHY ARE POKEMON IN THIS GAME SO CUTE LIKE THE WAY THEY LOOK UP AT YOU AND STUFF I LOST MY MIND THIS IS WHY I NEEDED POKEMON TO TURN 3D EVERYTHING JUST LOOKS SO CUTE

conseguiram estragar pokemon

Had about 100 hours of fun playing this game. First time I ever completed the pokedex. First time I ever fully EV trained my team. First time I ever wanted to kill time in the game so bad that I willingly hunted for shinies —— sucessfully! And yet I literally do not think it is a good game. idk. Disillusioned with the pokemon company now

Elongated sigh of mediocrity.

Pokémon Violet opened my eyes to how I truly feel about the franchise. I no longer feel the same exhilarating rush I used to get when I would play an entry I hadn’t experienced yet.

Why is this? Maybe I simply just grew up, maybe my preferences changed, or maybe Pokémon simply no longer tries. Remember Gen 5’s groundbreaking DS graphics? The 2.5D to give a pseudo 3D effect that really landed? Remember the outlandish sprite designs that we laughed at then, but wish we could go back to? This is just no longer what Game Freak is about.

Of course the semantics of why Game Freak isn’t like this float around the discourse of every Switch exclusive Pokémon game, but I just feel as if they aren’t truly trying their hardest. Especially after a game like Legends Arceus, even if it was full of uninteresting, uninspired dialogue. Gen 9 suffers from the same thing, but there’s somehow even more. Like, please brother, shut the FUCK up every once in awhile. You can’t go more than 5 minutes without wandering into a full on yap session.

I would give them credit of the open world design, if the world didn’t look like a late era Wii game. There are so many beautiful looking games on the Switch, and this just isn’t one of them. Textures feel flat, cities look identical, environments look colorless. There are 2 open world Zelda games on the Switch that not only look better, but run better as well. Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild are 7 years old and absolutely blow new Pokémon out of the water, both stylistically and graphically.

I love the ability to progress how I please, but levels are already set instead of scaled. That means I don’t truly have a choice, I just have the option to go to higher level areas where I’d get my ass kicked trying to train.

Let me go back to the pointless dialogue thing I mentioned, because Pokémon has actually had great storylines before. Black and White, Ruby and Sapphire, Platinum, all memorable. I legitimately just played this game, like, today, for hours, and can’t remember shit. A huge reason for this is the ungodly amount of dialogue that just does NOT matter, so I may have ended up skipping important sections.

This game is also on the verge of being broken. Constant frame rate drops, human characters and Pokémon sprites popping in and out of existence, getting stuck on terrain, 2022 did not ask for this.

The music does slap though. Top tier Pokémon OST.

There are so many better, similar games on the Switch than this, and there’s even a better Pokémon game on the console too. Pokémon Violet succeeds at nothing but the basics, being a somewhat playable game that sounds good, with almost zero memorability to make up for the dreadful gameplay you’ve forced yourself to get through. A good idea, a very bad execution. 3/10.

Is this game perfect? No. But it’s great! Look obviously the graphics are ass and most of the new Pokémon are forgettable but this is the one and only Pokémon game I’ve 100% so I have a soft spot for it. The story is the best since black and white, and the characters are the best they’ve ever been. The DLC adds some much needed challenge and is much better than sword and shields. Crazy how this came out in 2022 and needed a HD remake at release. Hopefully they make that one day.

This game is absolute dogwater. Even if I left out all the glitches and performance issues i encountered, there'd still be way too many issues to list here.

runs like shit but gameplay was kinda fun, way too easy and story was boring

I think this game got a bad rep. It definitely has its flaws but I appreciated the openness of the region and had an absolute blast shiny hunting. This game is buggy and slow at times which does take away from the fun. The Ed Sheeran song is garbage and its on my workplace's playlist for some godforsaken reason.

The best plot on recent releases, which saves the mess of a game it is, at least gaves us professor Turo, Sprigatito and Fuecoco

boring ass game only to be defeated by valorant being a fucking shitty video game

Despite it releasing in a state worse than most early access titles everyone gives it a pass, what a shame.
