This game has given me Stockholm Syndrome every time I bring up how amazing some of the writing is like with Adachi or Kanji I get reminded about moments where characters just become unlikable for 10 minutes straight for the sake of #relatable moments

Persona 4 Golden is a masterpiece and is currently my favorite game in the persona series. The setting and aesthetic of P4G is top fucking tier, the gameplay is fun and challenging, the murder mystery driven story is cool and intriguing, the social links are arguably the best in the series, has what I believe is the best persona antagonist that is Adachi, and the main cast is damn near perfect. I’ve seriously never been so attached to a cast of characters like the investigation team. Some more of the things I love about P4G is how damn wholesome and heartwarming the game can be, it’s what gives the game its own unique charm and vibe to me out of the whole series I really love it.

There aren’t many huge problems I have with this game. There are some things that annoy me like the camping trip scenes cuz of Yosuke (still love yosuke but man he has some yikes moments) and Marie’s dungeon, I honestly don’t really like it. It’s fine story wise but I am not a big fan of the dungeon design personally. But despite some of those issues that I can name up on the top of my head they don’t completely take away how masterful I think the game is overall. It just goes to show how much I love and respect this game.

No matter how many times people misinterpret P4’s themes and core topics, or try to spawn extremely stupid and random controversy out of it, Persona 4 Golden will forever be one of my favorite games of all time and what I consider to be a JRPG masterpiece.

I am just about to finish this game for the 3rd time and even still it manages to remind how its the best game ever made and will forever be my favourite game of all time.

First off the story is absolutely amazing on this game and the twists in the story will really shock you and its one of the games that once you finish it you will be sad that the game is over. I will not spoil the story as you should go play it for yourself but it will constantly keep you guessing and its definitely the best story out of the persona games in my opinion. The combat is also alot more defined over p3 with smaller dungeons which i prefer as tartaurus from p3 felt very tedious towards the end and too grindy. The cast of characters is definitely a highlight as well as these are my favourite out of the persona series and i dont think 3 and 5 quite capture the magic of the crew in persona 4. As someone who loves all persona game i would definitely recommend this one as i think its much better developed on p3s style and its not as overwhelming as p5 is with its extremely long story and lots of gameplay mechanics. So definitely play this one first if you are interested as this was my first one and id do anything to go back to my first playthrough of this game as it was truly a magical experience. Lastly the soundtrack is also amazing and go listen to you if you havent because almost all persona osts slap

This is one of the few games i really cant think of any negatives i have for it i genuinely loved the entire experience from beginning to end and going into this i really wasnt sure if i was going to enjoy it or not but i was pleasantly surprised and now i cant not end up coming back to this game every so often as its just simply that good. A must play whether thats on psvita, xbox, steam or ps4 or 5 just play this game you will not regret it

awful game about how if you do not fit into The Heterosexual Family you WILL be corrected and you WILL be happy about that. propaganda in essence. its not really surprising since this is the game with the biggest emphasis on jung in the series.

Bonus Social stuff feels, you know, like a value-add. Bonus character and bonus combat feels like a value-subtract. Overall inherently more definitive version of an already good game.

Persona 4 Golden using the struggles of gay and trans people as a narrative device is like using the horrors of the Holocaust in order to portray the message of "Always be nice to others!"

Best Persona game. Characters are written excellently and the plot is well written and doesn't get ahead of itself. The group actually feels like real people instead of just caricatures or tropes (PERSONA 5). The themes and messages throughout are dealt with delicately and with respect (with the exception of Yosuke being a dickhead). Be warned: this game is VERY HARD.

My favorite Investigation Team member was Goku

Not a perfect game, but the characters and story is pretty pogchamp

Persona, persona, persona, what a difficult relationship I have with this series

I played P3P on my psp a couple of years back and had more or less the exact feeling to that game as well.

So let's make a list of bulletpoints

Hates:
1. Anime shenanigan - I still don't like all this typical anime shit: sexualizing under aged girls, always talking about having a girflriend/boyfriend like your life depends on it, some of the half-baked dialogues, characters and stories
2. Dungeons - Still not a fan of these dungeons. Ngl, the combat felt better in this game, but it's still super grindy and not my fav part of the game
3. Teddie - pervert jokes as the main character trait.
4. Empty days - there is a lot of days that are just empty. I understand that it's supposed to be like that, cuz irl you also have them. But the problem is that there are like a couple of month in the middle in the game where nothing really happens and you can't do much fun actives.
4. Getting clues about somebody - holy shit this is annoying. Absolutely not worth it doing it on your own, just google how to do it. In the end, it's just running around and talk to every NPCs every day, hoping that you somehow find the right one.
5. Social links - I'm not a fan of this system. Mainly because the main protagonist is a silent one, but even then, you can't choose a lot of dialogues options. It's mostly you listening to the monolugues of another character. And they gonna talk to you in a certain way, and you can't change it. So it's like you get the worst from the pre-made protagonist and the silent one.

The loves:
1. Music - shit slaps hard. Not as much as p3 tho, but still amazing
2. Vibes and settings - just looking at this game makes you feel comfy and somewhat nostalgic. And with the music is just 10/10. Also the old mobile phones, tvs, and so on. Nostalgia and cozy
2. Social links are more engaging - even tho I'm not a fan of this system, I like way more than p3 cuz now on some of the social links you will interact with other characters and also increase their social link. Cool addition and feels much more that they are a group of friends, and not just individual friends to the main character
3. Characters - characters are way more likeable, and they each of them has a somewhat unquie social problem that is pretty easy to relate tho. Great progression from P3. Kanji is the best girl
4. Story - I like it way more than p3. Much more down-to-earth story and also I like detective shit
5. Endings - I got the bad ending and for me, that's the best ending. It's much more tragic, yet it gives you consequences. While the other endings feel like "too good" for me. Also the final dialogue with Doijma in the bad ending is cool af

Overall, as P3, it's a love-hate game. I'm glad that I played it cuz it will bring me a lot of good memories of it, like it's right now with persona 3. Music will always stay on my playlist

Persona is a series that you enjoy feeling nostalgic over it more, than actually playing it

Whoever said this game was 70 hours lied to my face this was way shorter than I thought it would be. Honestly probably my favorite cast in a Persona game so far (haven't touched 5 yet) for the sole reason that everyone is an idiot and stupid and I love them for that. Fun story but that true ending twist honestly got on my nerves pretty bad. Still! I love the murder mystery aspects of the plot and honestly didn't hate a single member in my party... except Teddie obviously.

Gameplay... well it's not great to be honest. It's my fault for playing P3R and then starting the older game, but point still stands. Some enemies and bosses are like the easiest thing ever, and then you can come across a group of enemies that manage to get the jump on Yu and instakill him forcing you to restart the whole floor again. It's super annoying! And man do I miss having the shift mechanic.

Overall I recommend, the 50 hours go by pretty quick if you ask me.

If you like this game you should be considered a registered sex offender

The definitive version of the game. Great characters, great story, great music, addictive battle system, dating sim elements and tons of gameplay.

I have a billion things I want to say, but I'd never be able to talk about all of them in one sitting. All I can say is that I want to cry.

I started out thinking I wouldn't even finish this, now I wish it never ended.

My first introduction to the persona series and the Megaten series as a whole!!! :D

i'd unplug nanako's life support to charge my phone even if it had 100% battery

Persona 4 will always be special to me. The game isn't perfect, with a lot of flaws that were more apparent with this playthrough than my first time, but I still love what it does so well. Can't even fully express how special this game is to me. I will always live true to myself, even if it's sometimes painful path. That's what this amazing game has taught me.

you know what they say nothing like your first and Persona 4 was my first of this series
remember buying it on sale for the Vita thinking it would be a game I would play while I was going to have to be at my dad's for the summer and ended up finishing it the week after I bought it with a 70h save file
since then I have also platinumed it :)

There is something intriguing about a friend solving many murders and mysteries in a small town. P5 was my first Persona Game, so looking at the visuals for Persona 4 was hard. Despite this, everything from the plot, the characters, and world building was amazing. Definitely the best story driven game I've played from an SMT or Persona Title so far.

I might be super corny for saying this but this game has genuinely helped me change my perspective on life entirely and truly taught me how to accept myself no matter the flaws that I have within me; this game explores and captures the theme of “slice of life” so well and I definitely recommend playing this game to anyone that likes that kind of genre. The cast is extremely memorable, and sure, there are definitely several flaws in this game, like the cliche tropes and whatnot, but I will ensure you that it has emotionally touched me in many ways, and I don’t think I have ever related to any other characters other than the main cast from Persona 4. This game almost applies to anyone who would like to experience what it would feel like to have an amazing high school experience, while solving a murder along with your group of friends 👍

JoJos Part 4 meets Scooby Doo. I binged this at the beach on the couch one summer, and it may be one of my fondest gaming memories. It's absolutely a vibe through and through.

i was obsessed with it when i was like. 14 years old then I realized it kind of blows but I still like parts of it

it is genuinely the most insanely homophobic and transphobic game ive ever played still though LOL

não tem sexo gay 👎👎👎👎

This game is so cool I wish friends were real.

One of my favorite Persona games, right under Persona 3 Reload. The cast of characters in this game are by far my favorite in the series, and the story is pretty good! The setting is also a highlight in the series, and unlike being a big city like in Persona 5, it's just a small town, which, if you're coming from P5 to P4, is a welcoming change. The story, in my opinion, is better than 5. It's a fun story that engages the player, and it's not as predictable as I thought it would be. Gameplay wise, yes, it's not as good as 5, but it's still really good. The OST is my favorite soundtrack from a video game ever. I heavily encourage playing this through from beginning to end, and try to avoid spoilers too. This game is amazing when played blind.

Sucks how I can’t date yosuke but otherwise great game

Literally the greatest rpg ever made. The characters and story are perfection. The dungeons are fixed from persona 3 and are actually fun to play through!!!! Adachi is the goat and this game is the goat!!!

Persona 3 is my favorite in the series but P4G is the "coziest" game for me. Again, Vanilla P4 was my first experience with the story, but Golden just has better QoL. There is something really addicting about the shuffle time mechanic here. A running theme with games I like is that the characters are usually a standout. The Investigation Team is no exception, reminding me a lot of the friend group I had growing up. And I love the supporting cast (namely Dojima, Nanako, and of course Adachi). It's a game that always puts a smile on my face and that's truly all I could hope for.
