It's not funny, the combat is dull, it doesnt utilize the las vegas setting to good effect and the unfinished build from 2001 has more interesting ideas and content. This game just feels like it was finished to keep a promise from 1998 rather than actually because the people behind it were passionate
Precisely as bad as everyone says, but it's also just dull as hell. It's like the slacker kid who waited til 5 minutes before the class project was due to hand it in. In fact, if this had been a student project (or a fan game), I might've been more charitable toward it. It's also amusing how much better "Serious" Sam Stone is at being Duke Nukem than Duke himself; Duke is essentially an entirely unoriginal hack, with zero charm to boot. In fact, DNF may be one of the defining Hack works of art of our age.
Arguably the greatest disappointing in gaming… this was developed over a decade. And it went through one of the worst productions in anything not just gaming.
And this is what we got… which is a shame. So much potential with the iconic dialogue and fun interactions and heck you can pick up and fight with a turd😂. But everything else is painfully bad. And just a slog. It’s a shame, hopefully Gearbox comes back and gives Duke the respect he deserves.

It has own its reputation.
The good ideas are parts where you're shrinked at a tiny size. That's it. And they're not even really good ideas. They're much more "less bad" ideas than the rest of the game.
Kudo to the submarine boss. Submarine gameplay is a thing every player loves in every game (it isn't), they decided to conclude it by a boss. It features an attack where he swallows water which drags you toward its mouth. Unfortunately, you have to face him to shoot at him, which prevents you from running aways from this attack. If you rotate to run aways, escape from this attack and get amunition situated at the farthest point from the boss, you won't be able to shoot at him. You have to choose between two undoable bad options : either run aways and do nothing except hoping you have enough time to refill your ammunitions, either shoot at him without enough ammo and compromise your survival. Brilliant.

This was my first Duke game and while I understand the stigma on this title I still love it. Duke was such a relic character to me as a kid that I just kept playing to hear him talk more. The Doctor who Cloned Me was definitely the best thing to come out of this. Also I still see the girls hand as his on the cover.
I remember for years I thought this wasn't all that bad, but the thing is I never got halfway into it. And it is just ok at best if all you're doing is checking it out. Just once you actually decide to beat it, that's when it sucks. Experiencing the whole game for yourself just isn't ideal imo. Play like an hour at most, then watch the rest if you really want to. Please don't suffer.
