Played on the Duckstation Emulator on PC using an Xbox One controller. The physics and handling model aged much better than I had expected them too. Fun car selection. I'm pretty fond of the lack of tracks, it actually allowed me to learn them all and start to master them. Disparity in AI car difficulty is races is pretty rough. Also, putting a big turbo on a car makes it take over 10 seconds to get out of 1st gear? There had to be a more elegant way to do that, extremely frustrating. All in all a pretty amazing first effort when you consider the landscape of racing games at the time of its creation. It's pretty barebones but does everything you want it to do rather well.

Compared to racing games on the Genesis, this seemed like the coolest shit in the world at the time. I didn't really stick with the series after 3, as racing games in general started to lose me, but the detail on the cars was pretty great, and I loved having to earn higher licenses to enter races
Primeiro GT, esse jogo é uma masterpiece.
Good game but why play this one while GT2 is right there, I would rate this little higher if it was the only game in the series though.

É muito doido pensar que lá em 1997 um certo japonês - que muito facilmente vai virar um dos meus favoritos quando o assunto é criar jogos - junto da sua equipe implementou mecânicas de customização absurdas, centenas de carros e gráficos estilosos pra época em um hardware com 2MB de RAM e 1MB de VRAM.
It can make the game feel less "classy" than its sequels, but the heavy focus on tuning makes more sense when you're mainly driving JDM cars
I'm sticking to Mario Kart for now...
Probably one of the most influential racing games to exist and it's still just as fun to play as it was 20 years ago. It was perhaps made a tiny bit redundant by its masterpiece of a sequel, but it still remains very special to me.
Classic, but it was great at the time
Great first entry into an excellent sim racing franchise. Loved the hi res mode at the completion of the game. The only thing holding it back are it’s shorter length than most other sim racers
Really addicting gameplay loop and fantastic aesthetics. There isn’t a ton of content, but what is here is so solid. The driving feels great and upgrading your cars is extremely satisfying.
This game had Lose Control by Ash on the soundtrack and I think I gave it an extra half a star there just thinking about that song because come on it's quite a banger.

This game historical importance can't be denied, I played it a few weeks but decided to shelved it to pick it up again when I finish Gran Turismo 2, but it gave me a first good impresion, I truly appreciate that runs more smoothly than its sequel. I would not recommend this as an entry title in the series, but for I have seen online you can complete this game faster than other main games on the series.

All I remember about playing this game was, driving in reverse and causing as much chaos as possible.

I love how the cars handle and I like that you can upgrade them you can even make them think every single one of them looks like full-on race cars! and I think you can have a nice relationship with the cars you choose since there's not that many. lastly, the most expensive cars that cost like 500k from each dealership are fast af and cool that's all thanks :)

Zamanına göre gerçekten müthiş bir başarı. Kontroller ve fizikler zamanın ötesinde fakat şuan değil. Fizikler özellikle frenleme ve viraj alma konusunda çok hassas. Özellikle early gamede araç fizikleri puding gibi.
