hes raping but better in this game

Why did they replace Katy Kat's voice actor?? Her voice was perfect before!! But the game finally lets you know your timing for each input, so I know whatever I do wrong. But sometimes when the input turns gray, I still get points. This game was so easy compared to the previous two. Or maybe Gitaroo Man was more difficult?
It's so nice to see all the characters move so smoothly, and the jokes are even funnier. But I'm unsure if this game has the best songs in the series. Although it's Parappa's game, I wanted Lammy to be involved more...

This sequel was wayyy better than the first game and had a much wacky noodle plot. I wish there was more content in the game that lasted more than two hours, but the songs were really great and catchy to play, and the crazy characters made this experience very memorable! I love the practice tutorials that happen each song, it seriously helps with preparing you on what's going to happen with the actual stage. The timing of the notes still bothered me like in the first game but it wasn't terrible. They added a few more things in the game like ranks and vs player/computer, which I found really cool.

Toasty Buns, 6/10
This was a really good start to the game, Parappa wanted some burgers due to having to eat noodles just to see the burgers are noodles too. The son's dad suddenly comes back from the dead and then challenges Parappa to a rap battle?! It was very random but that's part of the charm to the game. The song was alright and easy but kind of forgettable.

Romantic Love, 7.1/10
This was more fun than the first song, Parappa and his friend are dancing to a show displayed on TV where Sensei talks and dances about romance and... being a taxpayer? He really is the lover of the law wanting to take someone to heaven wearing their best dress.. This was also very easy but of course, we're only at the beginning of the game. The things happening at the background were very silly and nice to watch! Parappa and PJ dancing together and kissing (Damn doing more things together than what Parappa does with Sunny Funny the entire series) was very funny.

BIG, 11/10
Oh boy, this song really hooked me up, I already know this will be stuck to my head for a while! Now that everyone's the size of ants after being hit by Papa Parappa's shrink ray, a mysterious ant appears right before them like a god and teaches Parappa how to be big again... but after becoming as huge as the earth, he has a mental breakdown and then gaslights Parappa into thinking he wasn't scared. This song is amazing, I love the part where they're in space, it sounds very unique! I also love the beef Guru Ant has with Ma-San for constantly shrinking and making them big.

Sista Moosesha, 9/10
Right off the bat this song is instantly catchy!! Parappa and his friend PJ are enlisted in the army to be trained by Moosesha that is actually the sister of Instructor Mooselini in the first game?! This was a lot harder to play and I kept clicking on random buttons to keep up with the pace but I still managed to beat it first try. She really is a tough teacher to Parappa but a lovable character!

Hair Scare, 8.6/10
This... was absolute hell.. It took me a few tries at the middle of the song but I still liked this stage. Right after PJ destroys the gym equipment, they have to save their friends that got kidnapped in the barber shop. There were so many different notes you had to remember and the timing was fast that my brain just shut off at different parts of the stage LOL. At least the barber turns back to normal, he really was a hellish character...

Food Court, 9/10
I wish I could eat noodles for the rest of my life! Papa Parappa now found the source for this noodleization and Parappa encourages himself that he could play the virtual reality helmet even if his friends can't help him. This scene really shows Parappa's character development and how much he cares for his teachers that taught him along the way. This stage is way different from the other ones, probably the most unique one out of the entire series. You get to fight all the teachers in a 8-bit game and they sing their own songs in a slightly different element. This was also tough to play but if you remember some of the notes in the previous stages, you could play this with ease.

Noodles Can't Be Beat, 7.1/10
This was a bit fun and easy to play, right after all the chaos and stopping the noodle invasion, they were hit by an army of noodle lovers taking over the city just to find out it was a bunch of dummies being controlled by none other than the son of the burger restaurant?! He then drops some lore that the reason for all of this is because he was sick of eating burgers his entire life and thought noodles were superior than everything, at least Parappa changed his mind and showed him other yummy foods. This stage is also iconic from that one video from 11 years ago made by drunk dudes.

Always Love!, 8/10
The world is now saved, yippe! The gang is now having a picnic and Sunny song starts playing and oh my god, it is such a banger. Apparently Sunny Funny saw this whole chaos unravel with the gang figuring out how to stop the noodle invasion. Yes, that includes Parappa and Guru Ant growing and shrinking next door. This made me feel bad for Sunny a bit since she wasn't able to join them and was upset by it but then Parappa and everyone got the chance to perform in the end, does this sound familiar with the previous game? Well, they do get to sing the same song, "I gotta believe!" but with different lyrics and more fun to it.

This ending felt very refreshing and I wish that they made a 3rd game to the franchise, but Sony does hate fun so we probably won't get it anytime soon.

this game is like if parappa 1 was good

it's like the first game with way more stuff and more interesting music choices

Have not been able to finish a game recently man either due to finishing up my sophomore year in college or my dogshit time management or getting bored of stuff quickly but I am so glad I gave Parappa 2 a shot out of nowhere cause once I played the first level I basically played the entire game in one sitting

While I am still fond of the original especially stylistically I could not wrap my head around the timing on whatever platform I tried it on this one in comparison is a lot easier as I beat every level 1st try or so because of how many chances it gives you to pick up the slack, however, it makes up for the general lax difficulty by giving you some genuinely insanely quality songs, of course, the lyrics are those charming and childish bars about doing mundane things but the instrumentals paired with everything on screen bumping to it really brings it to life for me. People told me I'd love this game but holy damn I really do.

Generally, I'd say I have problems in the very few-and-far-between variety it's a little annoying having the practice round come up every time and the 6th level is a very far outlier in quality but you can always skip the practice thing and the 6th level is still enjoyable I will say this game also doubled down on cutscenes but me personally I love the hell out of Parappa's humor and oddball character animation so really a problem for people who don't yk

Writing 2 paragraphs about a game that's maybe 4 hours long is a little crazy but to sum it up nicely into a package Parappa the Rapper 2 reminds me of a cartoon I would have loved as a kid with a banging ass soundtrack and weirdly addicting gameplay as I replayed the game already before writing this.

With this current beef between Drake and Kendrick, PaRappa is the only one who can step in and demolish both of them without even trying

Hot take, songs in this game are better than the original. Plus, I kinda dig the more out their plot of this than the more simple of the original.

Imcredibly fun rhythm game with a unique art style, story, and characters. I am surprised how well this holds up, and my main complaints are it is not long enough, and some strange issues I was having where notes would not register as on-time when they were. Like honestly we really don't get games like this anymore. Great.

This game made me feel like a kid again.

It's one of those games like Ratchet and Clank or Psychonauts where I really wish I grew up with it/ played them as a kid. Although the game is almost 25 years old at this point, the cartoon art style and simple gameplay aged beautifully. I forget how much I love rhythm games although I'm not good at them.

This is my first Parappa game and it left me a great first impression. Some of the songs like the 1st level burger guy and 3rd level ant guru songs are absolute bangers and I found myself bopping my head to many of them while playing. The story is just nonsense and I love it, random cartoon stuff like noodles taking over the world and trying to impress your crush, stuff I would see in shows I used to watch as a kid.

The game can be pretty challenging at times, the controls are not the best and so its easy to miss notes because of what I assume to be an input delay. The final act in the very last level is also stupid hard, normally a beat plays then you repeat it with the buttons shown but in this part, the button prompts pop up super quickly with no beat to follow that even if you did have the reaction time to do it, the input delay would screw you over. I had to redo this level countless times due to this, the others I had no challenge with. Although it seems impossible to get a perfect score in the levels because of this input delay, there looks to be a lot of replay value.

This game made me want to check out the other games in the series, it was super fun and I do like that you can play the whole thing in one sitting.

Growing up surrounded by all the Parappa memes (chinese), all the music (Big, Toasty Buns, Noodles Can't Be Beat, etc), and the colorful artstyle... I guess you can say I've been Parappa pilled since I was very young. However, I only recently got my hands on a copy Parappa The Rapper 2 (so expensive... oh man) and finally experienced the game for myself.

Before this, all I had played was the brutally unfair first stage of Umjammer Lammy (on an old PS1 Jampack demo disc) and maybe tried the PSP version of Parappa 1, but I was blown away at how much this game helps the player adjust to the button mashing playstyle. Practice mode is extremely helpful and fun, and having the inputs get simpler during a song when you're ranking BAD/AWFUL feels less like an insult (like in the older entries) and more like the game itself is trying to help you. It makes it so much easier to pick up and play.

The soundtrack is, in my opinion, easily better than the first game. Whereas the first game did have some bangers (❗️❗️) I feel like a lot of those songs' lyrics emphasized actions (kick punch chop crack crack left right Blah blah), something that they do a whole lot less in here. I find that it makes the songs WAY more listen-able and they stand strong even as standalone songs. The instrumentals are genuinely godlike, the production is so good that even the BAD/AWFUL versions of each track are worth listening to.

The whole noodle story is so goofy, I wouldn't have it any other way. 2 player mode is so much fun, even if it is just button mashing. I really really miss when games were this colorful, silly, groovy, and fun.

being one of my first BIG hyperfixations, this series shaped who i am as a person. this game helped me meet my best friend of all time alongside many other people. sentimentality aside its a very fun rhythm game that immensely improves upon the first game with more replayability and more challenge involving getting cool ranks.

Anything goes even CHINESE

Needed a palate cleanser game, and played this because it's something that I had on PS Plus and could be finished in less time than it takes to watch a film. Sort of lacks some charm compared to the original or Um Jammer Lammy, and there seems to be a bit of an input delay so you basically have to learn to press everything slightly ahead of time. Still a decent time though.

A review of this game was eaten by a rapper dog who must believe himself. Believe me.

A littttle lackluster in comparison to the first

I find this much easier than the first game.

made me believe. one of the best things ive played in my piece of shit life.

catchier songs than the first game

A straight up improvement in every regard from its predecessors, PaRappa 2 easily lands its place as the best game of the trilogy. I love a lot of the PlayStation 2’s early offerings as they almost represent the end of an era, back when short, sub-20 hour games were commonplace in your console library alongside your 40+ hour behemoths. In less than two hours I finished the main game while having pure groove injected into my veins. The game overall just strikes that specific hip-hop chord for me especially compared to the first game. I’m also happy to say that PaRappa 2 unironically has great gameplay! It’s extremely easy on the default difficulty but I love the looseness of the freestyle system and the input interpreter feels just right. This is a fantastic game, emblematic of my favorite era of games and the attitude surrounding their development. It’s short, fun, and worth your time. Play this!

I played through this with my girlfriend and It was a very fun time. Much better than the first
A little short but it has some replay value

Solid rhythm game with a solid story.

Wow, this game is really, REALLY funny, I can't look at it with a straight face, and I mean it positively— among the simple yet challenging gameplay, colorful visuals, the zany characters and the head-boppin' tunes, I've been hooked on a feeling with this game! I'd totally recommend for anyone who's like, looking for a rhythm game to play in an "in the moment" type-beat. Also BIG is a REALLY good song you guys have no ide—

I’m so relieved Master Onion isn’t homeless anymore.

While the first game may have more memorable jams and moments, this is an overall improvement in every other way. The input delay problem is mostly gone and there’s still plenty of funny songs that will be stuck in my head forever now. Lammy deserves a sequel too.

PaRappa the Rapper 2 is one of those sequels that takes everything that was good about the previous games, and just makes it better!

The presentation has seen a boost thanks to the PlayStation 2's power, with more detailed environments, and slight shading on the 2D characters, which is nice to see.
The songs are also really well made, and are probably my favourite in the series, just because I was groovin' to most of them.

And they fixed the biggest issue that I had previously, the timings are now not nearly as weird as before. I was also able to improvise more on the fly now, compared to before, and get away with it, which made the gameplay feel more interesting.
I know the improv. mechanic was in previous games as well, but this time, because of the looser timings, I was able to pull it off better.
There is even a bonus game that you play a few times during the game's story, just to add more variety, and I appreciate it.

The story also is a bit more "epic" than last time, as the gang has to fight off a noodle invasion, and there's an actual antagonist now, which is interesting.

Even Lammy shows up a bit here and there in the story, and it's cool seeing PaRappa and Lammy interact, even for how small those interactions are.

Overall, PaRappa the Rapper 2 is an improvement over what came previously, and it's just a really fun rhythm game! Go check it out if you're curious.
